ACTION PROGRESS COMMENTS: The Shire allocated funding to the Margaret River Surf Pro, the Augusta Adventure Fest, the Augusta River Festival, The Margaret River Tennis Pro, Emergence Creative Festival, Tour of Margaret River Cycling, Open Studios, NBL presentation game, State Mountain Biking Championships and the Cape to Cape Mountain Bike event. The CEO authorised further payments to the Fun Run, Readers and Writers Festival and Illuminate. The icon events budget is now fully allocated. Open Studios, Emergence and Surf Pro events are still to be executed.

ACTION PROGRESS COMMENTS: The Communication Strategy and Marketing Plan has been reviewed as part of an organisation wide branding audit. The communications plan was updated and endorsed by Exec to ensure ongoing messaging in the interim but will be subject to further review upon completion of the branding exercise. Implementation of the outdated marketing plan is also ongoing in the interim. Staff across the organisation have participated in a branding workshop to determine future direction. The finding of the workshop will be presented in the following quarter.

ACTION PROGRESS COMMENTS: Regional Branding project was reviewed by an outside consultant and the results published on 18 August 2014. The amalgamation of the AMRTA and the GBTA was achieved by majority vote on 14 November 2014.

GBTA and AMRTA have requested proposals from providers to complete the branding for the Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association (the new, merged organisation). The appointment is expected in the following quarter. The Shire is working with GBTA and AMRTA to ensure aligned marketing messages where appropriate.

ACTION PROGRESS COMMENTS: Changes to the layout included inserting the Annual Budget and two extra columns to capture information about Capital Budget allocation and key funding partners. Operational Plan 14-15 has been completed by all Managers. There was a significant delay in completion of this document due to several individuals on leave. There have also been significant changes to actions in the Operational Plan that will need to be discussed with the working group. The Operational Plan 14-15 was adopted by Council at OM 22 Oct. There are a total of 282 planned activities for the financial year, a 2.2% increase on the 2013-2014 delivery programs. Of these 282 activities, 53 are priority projects and 31 are new actions. Preparation for the 2015-2016 Annual Operational Plan is under way. Business Unit planning templates are being developed, the LTFP review has commenced with project specific meetings under way to better align the two corporate documents.

Patrons are being supported towards greater independence in using the catalogue and managing their memberships, with one-on-one training sessions provided as needed. Completion of shire website content for libraries included a new 'widget' for customers to search our catalogue from the shire site if they choose to do so. Numerous processes and procedures have been updated to ensure staff and customers have the latest information at hand. SLWA new stock has been ordered for this quarter. There has been a reduction of $17,000 in funding from state government for AMRSC and this has impacted on selection rates.

ACTION PROGRESS COMMENTS: Children's activities at the Shire libraries in Quarter 2- October school holidays included children learning all about the wonderful work worms do in our gardens. Both workshops at Margaret River and Augusta Library were full, with 40 children attending in total. Vicki Power from Wonderful Worms Waste entertained children and parents were informed of the benefits of worm farms. November was a busy month at the Shire libraries with 93 Better Beginnings packs being delivered to kindergarten and Pre-Primary students at this time. Better Beginnings is a program that works in partnership with the State Library of WA, Rio Tinto's Future Fund and our local shire libraries. Another successful annual Reading Rabbits party (held for year one students who participate in our reading rewards program) was sponsored by Rotary Club of Margaret River and the Margaret River Bookshop. We also hosted a very well attended Teddy Bear's picnic for a storytime session at the Margaret River Library and children enjoyed stories outside the library with their picnics. On the 22nd of December we held our first school holiday activity at Margaret River Library whereby children decorated candles with coloured wax, just in time for Christmas.

ACTION PROGRESS COMMENTS: The library hosted the Sarah Drummond author during October. She travelled from Albany to talk about her book Salt Story. Margaret River Bookshop was on hand to sell copies and the event attracted 40 people with 100% satisfaction. $565 of funding was sourced for this author talk from Writing WA. Thursday 4th December the library hosted Claire Bolton to present her talk "Candle to Kindle". 25 people attended and of those who responded to the feedback form 100% were satisfied. Lifelong learning has been advertised this month in the Council for Community to draw new students to the computer training sessions conducted by our volunteers Seniors morning tea was well attended in November with all enjoying cuppa and cake and the viewing of some short films by Michael Wise and one of his students from the film editing

tutoring he conducts weekly. Artist Astara L'Kesh exhibited in the Cocoon with some acrylic paintings and a charcoal drawing. Ruslan Kulkin from the ABC radio in Bunbury used the library space to conduct 3 writing sessions over 3 Fridays.

Events ranged from club and community events to Shire’s largest icon events (Cape to Cape MBT (1300 competitors), Augusta Adventure Fest (3000-4000 competitors), Tour of Margaret River and Gourmet Escape (around 10000) October – Cape to Cape MBT had 1300 entries and The Agricultural Show , orienteering WA ran a couple of Events in the area, and the VW car club also brought a leg of their annual event to Margaret River.
