Service Portal Server Prerequisites (Server 2008/R2)
Prior to installation of the FIM 2010 R2 Service Portal Server, there are several pre-requisites that must be met. To begin, as with the Synchronization Engine Server, run Windows Update to completion. Once finished, ensure that Microsoft .Net 3.5.1 is installed. To install:Navigate to the “Server Manager”
Select “Features”
Click on “Add Features”

Select “.Net Framework 3.5.1 Features”
This will notify you that you must also add the required IIS role service. Select “Add Required Role Services” to continue.
Click “Next”

Leave the options default and click “Next”
To install, click “Install”

From here, you may wish to re-run Windows Update, as new updates may have become available. Once complete, it will be necessary to install the Microsoft SQL Native Client. Ideally I usually recommend that you install the Version of SQL Native Client that matches the Version of your SQL Environment that the FIM Service Database will be installed on.
To install, download the SQL Server Native Client that matches the version of your SQL Environment, and double-click to begin. This will open the installer:

After reading and accepting the End User License Agreement, click “Next to continue:
Enter the “Registration Information” as required, then click “Next” to continue:

You may leave the defaults and click “Next” to continue:
Click “Install” to begin the installation:

Once complete, click “Finish”
From here, you must now install the Microsoft Sync Framework Runtime Version 1 SP1. To begin, download and double-click on the package to open it, then click “Run”

This will open the Microsoft Sync Framework Runtime v1.0 SP1 Setup Wizard. To continue, click “Next”
After reading and accepting the End User License Agreement, click “Next”

To begin the installation, click “Next”
Once complete, click “Close”

After completing the Microsoft Sync Framework Runtime v1 SP1 installation, you must now install the Microsoft Filter Pack v 2.0. To begin, download and double-click on the package. This will open the Microsoft Filter Pack 2.0 Setup Wizard. To continue, click “Next”
After reading and accepting the End User License Agreement, click “Next” to continue:

Once the installer has completed successfully, click “Close”.
From here, it is not necessary to install the Microsoft Windows Identity Foundation. After downloading, double-click on the package to open the update. To continue, click “Yes”
After reading the End User License Agreement, click “I Accept” to continue

Once the installation is complete, click “Close”
We are now ready to begin installation of the final pre-requisite, Sharepoint Foundation 2010. To begin, download and double-click on the Sharepoint Foundation 2010 installation package. When prompted, click “Run”

This will open the SharePoint Foundation 2010 installation wizard. Before installing SP Foundation 2010, it is necessary to install some prerequisites. To do so, under “Install”, select “Install software prerequisites”
This will open the Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products Preparation Tool. To continue, click “Next”

After reading and accepting the End User License Agreement, click “Next” to continue
This will begin the prerequisites installation. Please note that this process may take a while. Once complete, verify status of each prerequisite step. Once you verified each step was either configured successfully or skipped due to already being installed click “Finish”. For any Component that did not install you may want to view logs and / or download the component manually.

Now, from the SharePoint Foundation 2010 installation wizard, under “Install”, select “Install SharePoint Foundation” to begin

After reading and accepting the End User License Agreement, click “Continue”
If SharePoint Foundation 2010 will be installed in a farm (either new or existing), select “Server Farm”. Otherwise, please select “Standalone”

Ensure that that box next to “Run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard now” is checked, the click “Close”
This will launch the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard. Click “Next” to continue.
