The opening of the "Order No. 00485. Anti-PolishOperation of the NKVD in Soviet Ukraine1937-1938" exhibition - New York - 17 November2019, Clark – 20 November 2019
The Archive of the Institute of National Remembrance and the PamięćUS Assosiation opened the "Order No. 00485. Anti-Polish Operation ofthe NKVD in Soviet Ukraine 1937-1938" exhibition as part of the VIIIedition of the IPN’s History Point in New York.
The opening of the exhibition took place at the St. Stanislaus Bishop
and Martyr Parish Church in Manhattan in New York – on 17 November2019. A few days later, on 20 November at 7:00 p.m., the exhibitionwill be presented at the Polish Cultural Foundation in Clark. The officialopening of the exhibition will be accompanied by lectures.
Workshops for teachers of Polish students abroad dedicated to the so-called NKVD anti-Polish operation will take place on 19 November at6:30 p.m. at the Polish Cultural Foundation in Clark.
The exhibition, prepared by the Archive of the IPN, consists of 16boards presenting the fate of people persecuted as part of the "Polishoperation" carried out by the NKVD in the Soviet Union in 1937-1938.
The first five boards show the situation of Poles after the Treaty of Rigaand the course of the "Polish operation" in the USSR. The following
ones portray the personal stories of the repressed. Additionally, 3boards present photographs of the reenactment of arrests,interrogations and shootings.
The exhibition is based on photos and documents from the collectionsof the Ukrainian State Regional Archives in Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi andOdessa as well as documents obtained from the Memorial Society andthe Center for Polish-Russian Dialogue and Understanding.
So far, the exhibition has been presented in Vinnytsia and inKhmelnytskyi and Odessa.
