3. Configuration/Illustration

The machines of this series consist of a high pressure inline plunger pump, driven by a low-emission 4-stroke engine. In case of poor oil level a low oil level cut-out stops the machine, so protecting the engine. An oil-greased reduction gearbox flanged between pump and engine reduces the high pressure pump speed and as a result extends the maintenance intervals of the pump. The feed water is directed via a pre-filter to the high pressure pump which – in connection with the required spray nozzle – boosts it to the stated/adjusted working pressure. Downstream of the high pressure pump a locked and sealed safety/control valve is installed which opens as soon as the operating pressure is exceeded by more than 10 % and returns the water which cannot be taken by the nozzle into the suction line of the pump. By opening the adjusting knob at the double lance the working pressure can be adjusted as required. The machine is equipped with a circulation shut-off system and additionally with a thermo valve in order to protect the pump against overheating. After closing the spray pistol the safety/control valve opens, and returns the circulating water back into the suction line. If the temperature of the circulating water exceeds 60 °C, the thermo valve opens, releases small amounts of hot water and allows cold water to enter. Re-starting and immediate generation of required/adjusted working pressure is achieved by opening the spray pistol again, allowing to continue the cleaning task without delay. The range of applications can be extended by a variety of accessories available. Contact your local distributor.

4. Start-up / Shut-down

Before Start-up: Read and observe operation manual.

In order to guarantee proper function and trouble-free operation, the following checks to be carried out before, during and after work:

• General condition of the unit (connections, gaskets, etc.). • High pressure hoses, hose pipes, whether damaged. • Air supply, fresh air grill must not be covered. • Filling of consumables. • Correct oil level of high pressure pump (sight glass/dip stick). Correct oil

level of Diesel engine (dip stick). Only oil qualities approved by OERTZEN to be used. High pressure pump: special pump oil OERTZEN OSP, reduction gear: special pump oil OERTZEN OSP, Diesel engine: OERTZEN special motor oil OSM.

• Pump/pump connections whether leaking. • Machine only to be run with absolutely clean water. Before connecting

the water supply hose, rinse it thoroughly. Depending on feed water quality, regularly check water filter in short intervals, replace if needed.

• Machine only to be run horizontally (+/- 5°). • In order to extend the lifetime of the Diesel engine, engine to be

warmed up for a few minutes during starting procedure and to run out during shut-down for cooling purposes.

In order to guarantee proper function and trouble-free operation, the following checks to be carried out during working:

• Observe function of indicator lights/monitors. • Observe pressure variations • Observe leaks at high pressure pump, hose pipes, connections. • Observe excessive exhaust formation/smoke development. • Observe abnormal noise.

In case of malfunctions immediately stop machine, eliminate cause according to chapter „Trouble Shooting“, call qualified service. Water Connection The water inlet (6) of the unit to be connected to the water distribution network by means of an internally clean, min. ” water hose. For connections to the potable water distribution network DIN 1988 to be considered (for short-time connection a back-flow preventer with non-return protection and ventilation to be used). The unit can take water out of vessels open waters, etc. with a max. suction height of

1 m. Do not feed machine with polluted water, as this would damage pump, safety valve and spray pistol.

Poor water supply may cause severe damages on the pump unit

(cavitation).

High Pressure Connection

High pressure hose to be connected to the high pressure water outlet (11) by means

of the hand nut without using tools.

Fuel Supply

Fuel tank (37) to be filled with unleaded petrol (min. octane 86). Petrol and its vapour

are highly flammable and explosive. Fire and explosion are hazardous/ lethal. Fuel never to be handled close to hot engines.

Fuel to be handled with care. Observe engine manufacturer’s instructions and applicable safety regulations.

Operation

When starting engine observe engine manufacturers operating instructions! Turn hand wheel of safety/control valve (3) counter-

clockwise, in order to ease engine start.

• Fully open water source, respectively dip in suction hose with strainer. • Open fuel cock (37 a).

• Put ignition switch (50) into position "ON".

Start Procedure – cold Engine – Rope Start: • Put choke (51) into start position.

• Put gas pedal (49) into position "FULL LOAD".

• Take handle of starter rope and pull it out up to resistance. Strongly pull starter rope in order to start motor.

• Slowly open choke during warm-up of engine in order to avoid dying

down of the engine.

• Increase pressure by turning the hand wheel of the safety/ control valve (3) clockwise up to max. pressure.

Start Procedure – hot Engine – Rope Start: • Do not use choke (51).

• Put gas pedal (49) into position 3/4 respectively FULL LOAD.

Detergent Dosing Only detergents approved by OERTZEN to be used. Use of hazardous detergents or detergents not approved by OERTZEN ceases warranty and product liability. Put detergent hose/strainer into vessel with detergent solution. Turn rotary handle on the double lance counter-clockwise. Detergent is drawn in at low pressure mode and applied it onto the surface of the cleaning object. Detergent to work in, but must not dry. By turning the rotary handle of the double lance clockwise detergent dosing is stopped. Cleaning object can be washed with high pressure beam.

After use of detergents, operate the machine with clean water for a couple of minutes, in order to completely flush all detergent residues out of the system.

High Pressure Pipe Cleaning (Option) During pipe cleaning aerosols may be generated, a protecting mask to be worn. Push pipe cleaning hose with rocket nozzle to be pushed into the pipe until the mark (approx. 50 cm) is reached. Open stop valve (51) and start high pressure cleaner by means of the ON/OFF switch (2). The recoil effect automatically draws the nozzle into the pipe. As soon as the nozzle reaches the blockage, carefully draw back pipe cleaning hose and let it move in again. Work carefully in sections and gradually remove the blockage in order to avoid clogging of the pipe cleaning nozzle (risk of further blockage). If the pipe is totally blocked, close stop valve (51), remove high pressure hose and replace rocket nozzle by a rocket drill nozzle (with front bore). Carry out procedure as described before. When removing the pipe cleaning hose, stop machine as soon as soon as approx. 50 cm of the hose are still in the pipe (mark), in order to avoid uncontrolled flapping of the hose which may cause severe injuries. If there is no mark can be detected, it should be fixed with tape or paint.

Never run the machine in circulation mode for more than 5 minutes in order to avoid overheating of the high pressure pump. Switch it off by means of the ON/OFF switch (2) during extended working breaks respectively after completion of work.
