Operation Athena will take drivers from
Edinburgh through the Scottish Highlands
and back to Edinburgh and is in aid of The
Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity and
HMS Prince of Wales Welfare Fund
It will include a visit to this iconic warship,
one of her Majesty’s flagships, just days
before it is due to leave on its sea trials.
The ship will be commissioned in December.
Your journey will start with dinner and
accommodation on board Fingal the new
luxury floating hotel, which is moored
next to the Royal Yacht Britannia. Over
dinner you will be presented with sealed
orders, which will set you off on a drive of
a lifetime.

On the first night of Operation Athena you will stay on board Fingal a former NorthernLighthouse ship, which after a £5 million refit,has been transformed into a luxury floatinghotel offering beautiful cabins, great dining and the Moët Hennessy Champagne bar.
Developed by The Royal Yacht Britannia,Fingal’s carefully considered design offers thehighest specifications of craftsmanship andfinish, with nautical touches and polishedwoods. Sumptuous Scottish leathers and thefinest linens are in colour palates inspired by the ship’s journey.
On the second night you will visit East HaughHouse, a 4 star boutique country house hoteland Scotland’s hotel of the year.
This 17th century private country house waslovingly converted into a luxury 12 bedroomhotel and restaurant, and has established itselfas a popular destination for guests from the UKand overseas. Renowned for its locally sourcedseasonal food, specialising in seafood and game,Chef Patron Neil McGown was recentlycrowned Scotland's Game Chef of the Year.
On the third night you will enjoy a stay at The Fife Arms, a victorian coaching inn whichhas been rewoven for the 21st century by itsnew owners, Iwan and Manuela Wirth.
With 46 bedrooms and suites infused withstories, a restaurant overlooking the rushingRiver Clunie, a jewel box of a cocktail bar, andwonderfully original public spaces, The FifeArms’ renovation has brought together anextraordinary cast of architects, designers,craftspeople and artists, many with deep ties toScotland, to create an experience which fillsvisitors with a sense of delight and discovery.
On the fourth night you will be going back toFingal where you will receive a personalisedinvitation to dinner on board the Royal YachtBritannia. You will change into formal eveningattire before making your way to the Royal YachtBritannia where you will be piped on board viathe Royal Brow, an entrance previously reservedfor Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family.Once on board there will be a champagnereception before dinner in the wardroom withofficers from HMS Prince of Wales.
After dinner you will return the short distance toFingal for your final overnight stay departingafter breakfast the following morning.

• An overnight stay at the recently refurbished Fife Arms in Braemar;
• A trip to the Highest village in the Highlands.;
• A red carpet ~ black tie dinner in the wardroom on board The Royal Yacht Britannia as guests of the Commanding Officer and the Naval engineer in charge of the build process, with a personalised exclusive tour of The Royal Yacht and champagne reception;
• A final night back on board Fingal.

The visit to HMS Prince of Wales will
include a tour of the ship, which is in the
final stages of its build and is the largest
warship ever to be built for the Royal Navy.
It will include a briefing from the Captain
who originally led the build process, which
has recently welcomed its first crew.

The Tour, which has been designed for just
six cars, includes breakfast, lunch and
dinner on each day including wines and all
gratuities and a number of unique
mementoes.
This is a one off experience which cannot be repeated.
