1.4 Safetyprecautions

CAUTIONInstall the system in full accordance with this installation manual. Incorrectinstallationcancausebursts,personalinju-ry,waterleaks,refrigerantleaks,electricshocksandfire.

Pay attention to the measurement values before working on the cooling system, especially when servicing in small rooms, so that the limit for the refrigerant’s concentration is not exceeded. Consultanexperttointerpretthemeasurementval-ues.Iftherefrigerantconcentrationexceedsthelimit,theremaybeashortageofoxygenintheeventofanyleak,whichcancauseseriousinjury.

Use original accessories and the stated compo-nents for the installation.Ifpartsotherthanthosestatedbyusareused, waterleaks,electricshocks,fireandpersonalinjurymayoccurastheunitmaynotworkproperly.

Ventilate the working area well – refrigerant leak-age may occur during service work.Iftherefrigerantcomesintocontactwithnakedflames,poisonousgasiscreated.

Install the unit in a location with good support.Unsuitableinstallationlocationscancausetheunittofallandcausematerialdamageandpersonalinjury.Installationwithoutsufficientsupportcanalsocausevibrationsandnoise.

Ensure that the unit is stable when installed, so that it can withstand earthquakes and strong winds.Unsuitableinstallationlocationscancausetheunittofallandcausematerialdamageandpersonalinjury.

The electrical installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician and the system must be connected as a separate circuit.Powersupplywithinsufficientcapacityandincorrectfunctioncancauseelectricshocksandfire.

Use the stated cables for the electrical connec-tion, tighten the cables securely in the terminal blocks and relieve the wiring correctlyto prevent overloading the terminal blocks. Looseconnectionsorcablemountingscancauseab-normalheatproductionorfire.


Do not install the unit where corrosive gas (for example nitrous fumes) or combustible gas or steam (for example thinner and petroleum gases) can build up or collect, or where volatile combus-tible substances are handled. Corrosivegascancausecorrosiontotheheatex-changer,breaksinplasticpartsetc.andcombustiblegasorsteamcancausefire.

Do not use the unit where water splashes may occur, for example in laundries. Theindoorsectionisnotwaterproofandelectricshocksandfirecanthereforeoccur.

Do not use the unit for specialist purposes such as for storing food, cooling precision instru-ments, freeze-conservation of animals,plants or art. Thiscandamagetheitems.

Do not install and use the system close to equip-ment that generates electromagnetic fields or high frequency harmonics. Equipmentsuchasinverters,standbysets,medicalhighfrequencyequipmentandtelecommunicationsequipmentcanaffecttheunitandcausemalfunctionsandbreakdowns.Theunitcanalsoaffectmedicalequipmentandtelecommunicationsequipment, sothatitfunctionsincorrectlyornotatall.

Do not install the outdoor unit in the locations stated below.

● Locationswhereleakageofcombustiblegascanoccur.

● Locations where carbon fibre, metal powder orotherpowderthatcanentertheair.

● Locations where substances that can affect theunit, forexample,sulphidegas,chlorine,acidoralkalinesubstancescanoccur.

● Locationswithdirectexposuretooilmistorsteam.

● Vehiclesandships.

● Locationswheremachinesthatgeneratehighfre-quencyharmonicsareused.

● Locationswhere cosmetic or special sprays areoftenused.

● Locationsthatcanbesubjectedtodirectsaltyat-mospheres.Inthiscase,theoutdoorunitmustbeprotectedagainstdirectintakesofsaltyair.

● Locationswherelargeamountsofsnowoccur.

● Locationswhere thesystem isexposed tochim-neysmoke.

Check, after completed installation or service, that no refrigerant leaks from the system in gas form. Ifrefrigerantgasleaksintothehouseandcomesintocontactwithanaerotemp,anovenoroth-erhotsurface,poisonousgasesareproduced.

Switch off the compressor before opening/breaching the refrigerant circuit.Iftherefrigerantcircuitisbreached/openedwhilstthecompressorisrunning,aircanentertheprocesscir-cuit.Thiscancauseunusuallyhighpressureintheprocesscircuit,whichcancauseburstsandpersonalinjury.

Switch off the power supply in the event of a ser-vice or inspection. Ifthepowersupplyisnotshutoff,thereisariskofelectricshocksanddamageduetotherotatingfan.

Do not run the unit with removed panels or pro-tection. Touchingrotatingequipment,hotsurfacesorhighvoltagepartscancausepersonalinjuryduetoentrap-ment,burnsorelectricshocks.

Cut the power before starting electrical work. Failuretocutthepowercancauseelectricshocks,damageandincorrectfunctionoftheequipment.

CARE

Carry out the electrical installation with care. Donotconnectthegroundleadtothegasline,wa-terline,lightningconductorortelephoneline'sgroundlead.Incorrectgroundingcancauseunitfaultssuchaselectricshocksduetoshort-circuiting.

Use main switch with sufficient breaking capacity. Iftheswitchdoesnothavesufficientbreaking capacity,malfunctionsandfirecanoccur.

Always use a fuse with the correct rating in the locations where fuses are to be used. Connectingtheunitwithcopperwireorother metalthreadcancauseunitbreakdownandfire.

Cables must be routed so that they are not damaged by metal edges or trapped by panels. Incorrectinstallationcancauseelectricshocks, heatgenerationandfire.

Do not install the unit in close proximity to loca-tions where leakage of combustible gases can occur.Ifleakinggasescollectaroundtheunit,firemayoccur.


If the bottom frame of the outdoor section is cor-roded, or in any other way damaged, due to long periods of operation, it must not be used. Usinganoldanddamagedframecancausetheunittofallandcausepersonalinjury.

If soldering near the unit, ensure that solder residue does not damage the drip tray.Ifsolderresidueenterstheunitduringsoldering,smallholescanappearinthetrayresultinginwaterleakage.Topreventdamage,keeptheindoorunitinitspackingorcoverit.

Do not allow the drainage pipe to exit into channels where poisonous gases, containing sulphides for example, can occur.Ifthepipeexitsintosuchachannel,anypoisonousgaseswillflowintotheroomandseriouslyaffecttheuser'shealthandsafety.

Insulate the unit's connection pipes so that the ambient air moisture does not condense on them.Insufficientinsulationcancausecondensation,whichcanleadtomoisturedamageontheroof,floor,furni-tureandvaluablepersonalproperty.

Do not install the outdoor unit in a location where insects and small animals can inhabit.Insectsandsmallanimalscanentertheelectronicpartsandcausedamageandfire.Instructtheuser tokeepthesurroundingequipmentclean.

Take care when carrying the unit by hand.Iftheunitweightsmorethan20kg,itmustbecarriedbytwopeople.Wearsafetyglovestominimisetheriskofcuts.

Dispose of any packaging material correctly.Anyremainingpackagingmaterialcancauseperson-alinjuryasitmaycontainnailsandwood.

Do not touch any buttons with wet hands.Thiscancauseelectricshocks.

Do not touch any refrigerant pipes with your hands when the system is in operation.Duringoperationthepipesbecomeextremelyhotorextremelycold,dependingonthemethodofopera-tion.Thiscancauseburninjuriesorfrostinjuries.

Do not shut off the power supply immediately after operation has start. Waitatleast5minutes,otherwisethereisariskofwaterleakageorbreakdown.

Do not control the system with the main switch.Thiscancausefireorwaterleakage.Inaddition,thefancanstartunexpectedly,whichcancauseperson-alinjury.


1.5 Serial numberYoucanfindtheservicecodeandtheserialnumber(PF3)ontheright-handsideofL…Split.

1.6 MaintenanceofL…Split

RegularchecksYour HSV Split only requires minimal maintenance.Thecondensationhoseshouldbecheckedtoensurethatcondensationcanrunouttoadrain.Ifthereisanysuspicion of leakage, pipe connections on L…Splitshouldbechecked.

NOTEInsufficientoversightcancauseseri-ousdamagetoL…Splitwhichisnotcoveredbytheguarantee.

CheckinggrillesandbottompanelonL…SplitCheckthattheinletgrilleisnotcloggedbyleaves,snoworanythingelseregularlythroughouttheyear.

Youshouldbevigilantduringwindyconditionsand/orintheeventofsnowasthegrillescanbecomeblocked.

Alsocheckthatthedrainholesinthebottompanel(three)arefreefromdirtandleaves.

Regularlycheckthatcondensationisroutedawaycorrectlythroughthecondensationpipe.Askyour installerforassistanceifrequired.

CleaningtheoutercasingIfnecessarytheoutercasingcanbecleanedusingadampcloth.Caremustbeexercisedsothattheheatpumpisnotscratchedwhencleaning.Avoidsprayingwaterintothegrillesorthesidessothatwaterpene-tratesintoL…Split.PreventL…Splitcomingintocon-tactwithalkalinecleaningagents.

PreventsnowfrombuildingupandcoveringthegrillesanddrainholesonL…Split.

SilentmodeTheheatpumpcanbesetto"silentmode",which reducestheheatpump'snoiselevel.ThefunctionisusefulwhenL…Splitmustbeplacedinnoisesensi-tiveareas.Thefunctionshouldonlybeusedforlimit-edperiodsasL…Splitmaynotreachitsdimensionedoutput.

SavingtipsYourheatpumpinstallationproducesheatandcool-ingand/orhotwater.Thisoccursviathecontrolset-tingsyoumade.

Factorsthataffecttheenergyconsumptionare,forexample,indoortemperature,hotwaterconsump-tion,theinsulationlevelofthehouseandwhetherthehousehasmanylargewindowsurfaces.Thepositionofthehouse,e.g.windexposureisalsoanaffectingfactor.

Alsoremember: ● Openthethermostatvalvescompletely(exceptinthe rooms that are to be kept cooler for variousreasons, e.g. bedrooms). The thermostats slowthe flow in the heating system, which the heatpumpwants to compensatewith increased tem-peratures. It then works harder and consumesmoreelectricalenergy.

● Reduceor adjust the settings for heating in anyexternalcontrolsystems.

1.7 RecoveryLeavethedisposalofthepackagingtothe

installer who installed the product or tospecialwastestations.

Donotdisposeofusedproductswithnor-malhouseholdwaste.Itmustbedisposedofataspe-cialwastestationordealerwhoprovidesthis typeofservice.

Improper disposal of the product by the user resultsinadministrativepenaltiesinaccordancewithcurrentlegislation.

1.8 EnvironmentalinformationThisunitcontainsafluorinatedgreenhousegasthatiscoveredbytheKyotoagreement.

Theequipment containsR410A,a fluorinatedgreen-housegaswithaGWPvalue(GlobalWarmingPoten-tial) of 2088. Do not release R410A into the atmos-phere.

2 Deliveryandhandling

2.1 TransportandstorageL…Splitmustbetransportedandstoredvertically.

NOTEEnsurethattheheatpumpcannotfalloverduringtransport.

2.2 Assembly ● PlaceL…Splitoutdoorsonasolidlevelbasethatcantaketheweight,preferablyaconcretefounda-tion.Ifconcreteslabsareusedtheymustrestonasphaltorshingle.

● The concrete foundation or slabsmust be posi-tionedsothattheloweredgeoftheevaporatorisattheleveloftheaveragelocalsnowdepth;how-ever,aminimumof300mm.

● L…Split sollte should not be positioned next tonoisesensitivewalls,forexample,nexttoabed-room.

● Also ensure that the placement does not incon-veniencetheneighbours.

● L…Splitmustnotbeplacedso that recirculationof the outdoor air can occur. This causes loweroutputandimpairedefficiency.

● The evaporator should be sheltered from directwind,whichnegativelyaffectsthedefrostingfunc-tion. Place L…Split protected fromwind againsttheevaporator.
