1 General information
Before installing the NTP read these instructions carefully. It is the basis for any action when dealing with the NTP, and may be used for training purposes. The instructions should be subsequently stored at the operation site.
The target group for these instructions is technical staff, who have basic knowledge in pneumatics and mechanics.
Therefore, only staff who are trained in these fields may work on the NTP.
The NTP may only be installed, put into operation, maintained, troubleshot and disassembled by persons authorised by the operator.
This documentation is protected by copyright.

2 Safety
The NTP are intended for installation in machines.
General applications are: loosening, conveying, compacting, separating bulk materials and reducing friction. NTP are used for emptying bunkers and as drives for sieves and vibration tables.
The NTP may also be operated in dusty and wet environment, but not in water or in other liquids.
The NTP B+C may only be operated clocked.
Any other use is considered improper.
Installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of the NTP may only be performed by authorised qualified personnel.
All handling of the NTP is the responsibility of the operator.

NetterVibration assumes no liability for personal injuries and material damages if technical changes to the product were made or the notices and regulations in these instructions were not observed.
WARNING
Falling parts
The NTP, construction parts as well as fastening screws can come loose due to vibration. Falling parts lead to severe personal injuries.
➢ Check the fastening screws after one hour of operation and thereafter at regular intervals (generally monthly).
➢ Retighten the fastening screws, if necessary.
➢ A safety device with a safety cable is mandatory for criti-cal mounting situations.
WARNING
Compressed air
A loosened hose which is under pressure can lead to personal injuries.
➢ Screw the hose lines on carefully.
➢ Check the hose lines and connections after one hour of operation and thereafter regularly (generally monthly).
➢ Retighten the hose lines, if necessary.
➢ Ensure that the compressed air is disconnected from the supply lines during all work on the NTP.
➢ Prevent the NTP from being switched back on during all work.

WARNING
Sound level
Near the NTP or in the vicinity of the constructions connect-ed with the NTP, the sound pressure level may exceed 80 > dB(A). The human ear can be permanently damaged by the high sound level.
➢ When working in the noise area, use ear protection if 80 > dB(A) is exceeded.

3 Technical data
Drive medium
NTP must be operated with clean, lubricated compressed air or lubricated nitrogen according to the following specification:

NTP L versions are suitable for operation with oil-free, dried com-pressed air according to the following specification:

IMPORTANT
NTP B + C may only be operated clocked.
A duty time of max. 60 s must be followed by a pause of at least 60 s. Al-ternatively, with a short duty time (≤ 12 s) a pause factor of 5 may be used (e.g.: duty time 5 s - pause time 25 s).

The type designations of the NTP differ as follows:
NTP B have no impact plate, the piston swings against an air cush-ion.
NTP B+A have an impact plate made of steel in the base plate (hard-hitting with high noise level).
NTP B+C have an impact plate (elastomer disc) that is inserted in the base plate.
NTP B+C is the standard version.

The technical performance data changes over the service life (wear and contamination).
The sound emitted by the NTP can be dampened by covers (on request). This is only worthwhile if the impacted sheet metal is also insulated (e.g. by heat insulation material).

The vibrations are generated by a free-swinging differential pressure pis-ton (5).
In the standard version NTP B+C the piston (5) strikes against an impact plate (9) made of elastomer, thereby achieving a rubber hammer effect.
The version B has no impact plate, the piston (5) swings quietly against an air cushion.
If the NTP is to produce hard strokes, then either insert an impact plate (9) made of steel into the base plate (8) or completely remove the base plate. The result is hard strokes on the surface on which the NTP is attached.
The NTP generate linear vibrations.
The momentum of the freely oscillating piston (= mass x distance) deter-mines the amplitude.
The amplitude is set by throttling the exhaust air, the frequency is infinitely variable via the operating pressure.

5 Transport and storage
Special conditions of transport are not required.
The NTP are packed and ready for assembly. Accessories and add-on parts are delivered unmounted, unless otherwise agreed upon.
The packaging protects the NTP from transport damage. The packaging material has been selected from an environmentally safe and technically disposable point of view and is therefore recyclable.
The return of packaging to the material cycle conserves raw materials and reduces the amount of waste.
When storing the NTP, observe the following conditions:
• Store the NTP in a dry and clean environment.
• The storage temperature is between -20 °C and +60 °C.
• Close all openings when re-storing.
• Preserve all NTP apart from the NTP L before storage:
1. Add anti-corrosion oil to the air inlet of the NTP.
2. Actuate the NTP briefly when mounted.
3. Then close the supply air connections of the NTP.
If the NTP L are stored for longer than 6 months, then the NTP L must be checked by NetterVibration before anewed start-up.

6 Installation
IMPORTANT
Observe the safety instructions in Ch. Safety, page 5.
For operation of the NTP a 3/2-way valve is provided,
• to ensure a faultless start in any installation position.
• in order to achieve an immediate standstill when switched off.
Use a maintenance unit for all installations.
The maintenance unit should consist of a filter, a regulator and a mist lu-bricator (see Ch. Technical data, page 7; "Drive medium"), the NTP L a filter und regulator.
Connect the NTP with a pneumatic hose according to the following pneu-matic circuit diagram shown.

Information regarding tightening torques for screws as well as cross sec-tions for valves and hoses can be found in Ch. Technical data, page 7.
Depending on the type of NTP, NetterVibration supplies suitable fas-tening sets for tapped holes (NBS G) and through-holes (NBS D) for se-cure and permanent attachment of the NTP on the weld-on console.
When installing the NTP carry out the following steps in succession:
1. Mount the NTP with the fastening screws on a clean and even surface (± 0,1 mm) without paint residues or burn-ins. The NTP must be fully in contact with the surface so that no tension in the housing occurs when tightening the fastening screws, which could cause mechanical dam-age.

NetterVibration recom-mends mounting the NTP on a weld-on console. Weld the weld-on console to the on-site mounting surface so that the vibration energy is opti-mally distributed.

2. Observe the recommended values for screw size and tightening tor-ques.
3. If necessary, additionally use a medium-strength liquid safety agent to secure the screw connections.
4. Observe the recommended cross-sections for valves and hoses. For the air supply, preferably use screw connections with integrated seals or a liquid sealant. Avoid sealing tape. Do not use longer screw-in threads for the air supply than intended (e.g. no pipes with external thread). Otherwise the housing may be deformed and the piston there-by jammed.
5. Fasten the compressed air supply securely.
The air resistance increases with the hose length. The nominal diameters in Ch. Technical data, from page 7 on, apply to hose lengths up to 3 m. Longer supply lines require larger cross-sections.
If necessary, the escaping air is diverted through a hose, which must be installed as follows:
1. Remove the silencer.
2. Fasten the exhaust air hose directly to the exhaust air connection.
3. Mount the silencer at the free end of the exhaust hose.
If the NTP is to achieve full performance, then the exhaust hose must have a larger nominal size than the supply hose.

Check that the following steps have been carried out:

Specifications on kind of hose, hose length and nominal width observed?

NTP secured against falling by means of a safety cable in criti-cal assembly situations?

Please refer to Ch. Technical data, page 7 for permissible operating condi-tions.
The frequency of the NTP should be set or regulated with the pressure regulator of the maintenance unit. Use a 3/2-way valve.
The frequency is reduced by lowering the air pressure before the NTP.
The centrifugal force is hereby also reduced. At the same time the ampli-tude remains almost constant.
If required, install a throttle valve in the exhaust air line in order to regulate the amplitude of the NTP by throttling the exhaust air.
Notice: Reduced cross-sections already throttle (observe the nominal di-ameter).
By throttling the exhaust air, the centrifugal force is reduced. The frequen-cy hereby remains almost constant.
Recommendation: Reduce the amplitude only up to approx. 50 %. This can cause start-up problems if below.
Set the mist lubricator to the smallest safely adjustable number of drops while the NTP is running. The NTP is ready for operation only after ad-justment and correct functioning of the mist lubricator.
NetterVibration recommends setting the following number of drops on the mist lubricator depending on the type of NTP:

Check that the following steps have been carried out:
Screw connections checked before installation?
Desired frequency set on pressure regulator?
Desired amplitude set by throttling the exhaust air?
Mist lubricator set?
After one hour of operation: hose supply connections, fastening screws checked, retightened, if necessary? Then follow the maintenance plan.

IMPORTANT

To clean the NTP, proceed as follows:
1. Close the supply air and exhaust air openings.
2. Clean the NTP externally with pressurised water.
3. Activate the NTP briefly.
Maintenance of the NTP must be carried out as follows:

Empty the filter of the maintenance unit, if necessary, clean the filter insert (wash out) and replace, if necessary.
* Observe the recommended tightening torques (see Ch. Technical data, from page 7 on).
The maintenance intervals depend essentially on the service life and how clean the drive medium is.
Unfiltered compressed air leads to high wear, silencer clogging or com-plete failure of the NTP.
If you notice loss of performance or standstill of the NTP then have the NTP checked at NetterVibration.

9 Troubleshooting
In the case of disturbances of the NTP proceed as follows:
Disturbance Possible cause Corrective action
No start Silencer polluted Clean silencer.
Compressed air supply
Check if there is enough pressure at the NTP. Check valve. A 3/2-way valve is recommended, so that the supply line to the NTP is vented.
Cover loose A leaky cover leads to standstill of the NTP.
Tighten screws.
Wire cross-sections Observe recommended cross-sections (see Ch. Technical data, from page 7 on).
Line too long be-tween valve and NTP
Leads to a slow start and an eventual standstill of the piston in the middle position.
If necessary, put controlled 3/2-way air valve before the NTP.
Exhaust air throt-tled too much
Open the throttle valve further. Clean silencer.
Thread of grommet is too long
Check if the housing is deformed. Have NTP
checked for deformed housing by NetterVibration.
Tension during installation
Ensure a flat contact surface.
Rattling Screws loose Checkfastening screws.

11 Disposal
All parts of the NTP must be properly disposed of according to the material specifications. The valid disposal costs of the NTP are available on request.
