3. Device Description

ThereferenceD2isadigitalpressuregaugewithdis-playofactualandMIN/MAXvalues.Itisusedforsta-tionaryormobilepressuremeasurement.

Itisequippedwitharobustcasemadeofzinccastingwithrubberprotectioncap .Theelectronicunit,the41⁄2 digit LC display , the control panel and thereplaceablebatteriesarehousedinsidethedevice.Thereferencehasanaccuracyof±0.1%,referringtotherespectivefullscalevalue(FS).Theapplicationaspressurereferenceallowsforeasychecking,adjustmentandcalibrationofotherpressuremeasuringequipment.

3.1 Intended Use

The digital pressure gauge D2 shall only be usedfor checking, adjustment and calibration of pressuremeasuringequipment.DonotusethereferenceD2beyonditsspecificationorcontrarytotheoperatinginstructions.

WARNING! No safety component! ThereferenceD2isnosafetycomponentin

compliance with the directive 2006/42/EC(MachineryDirective).Æ NeverusethereferenceD2assafetycomponent.

Theoperational safetyof thedevicesupplied isonlyguaranteedbyintendeduse.Thespecifiedlimitvalues(chapter4“TechnicalData”)mustnotbeexceeded.Thisparticularlyappliesfortheadherencetotheper-missiblefullscalevalueandthepermissibletempera-turerange.

IMPORTANT! Risk of injury or material damage due to overpressure!

Exceeding the maximum overload valuesmay lead to material failure of the digitalpressuregauge.Thismayalsocauseseri-ousdamagetohealth.Æ Ensurethattheoverloadvaluesareneverexceeded.

5. Display, Functions and Measuring Process

For inspection, adjustment or calibration, the digitalpressuregaugeD2mustbeconnectedtoapressuregenerator and the pressure measuring equipment,whichistobetested.Theparagraph “Measuringprocess” isanexemplarydescriptionofthecalibrationwiththehandtestpumpBHP700orBHP40aspressuregeneratorandame-chanicalpressuregaugeastestitem.

ThedigitalpressuregaugeD2isequippedwithanLCdisplay with additional elements and a graphic bar-graphindication.Themeasuredvaluesareindicatedasnumbersinthe41⁄2 digit display . The set measuring unit (bar,psi,kPa,MPa,kg/cm2,mH2O)isindicatednexttothemeasuredvalue.The bargraph indication represents the pressurerangeof0–100%ingraphicblocks.Thedragindica-torfunctionshowspressurepeakswithasingleline.Inthestatusline ,thebatterysymbolindicatesthecurrent battery level. Next to that, depending on thedefaultsetting,MIN,MAXorFSvalueisindicated.Themeasuringmode(chapter8.1)andthemenufordevicesettings(chapter8.1.1)areoperatedviathefourbuttonsofthecontrolpanel .

Function of the reference:Thesignalsofthepressuremeasuringcellarerecord-edwithasamplerateof10ms(100measurements/s),convertedintopressurevaluesandindicated.Withthehighsamplerate,dynamicpressurepeakscanalsobemeasured.ThesearesavedintheMIN/MAXmemory,whichispermanentlyupdated.The referenceD2supports thedailypressuremeas-urement due to useful features like MIN/MAX indi-cation, display filter, zero function, adjustment of thepressureunit,lighting,batterylevelindicationandpro-grammableautomaticswitch-offfunction.

Connect the reference D2 and the test item tothehandpump .Itisimportantforthemeasuringprocessthatthesamepressure is applied to reference and test item. ThisisguaranteedwiththehandtestpumpBHP700andBHP40.ThereferenceD2isscreweddirectlytothehandpumpviathemaleprocessconnection .Connectthetestunitwithaflexiblepressurehose .Then,usethehandpumptogeneratepressureandsettherequiredtestpoints.Measuringvaluesandadditional informationare indi-catedintheLCdisplay ofthereferenceD2.Operateandsetthefunctionsviathemembranebut-tonsofthecontrolpanel .Assoonasthepressurestabilisedat thetestpoints,thecurrentmeasuringvaluesare read.Themeasur-ingvaluesoftestitemandreferencearerecordedandevaluated.

6. Connection and Battery Replacement

ThedigitalpressuregaugeD2hasaG1⁄4"(BSPP)malethreadandissuppliedincludingbatteries.Thedeviceisreadyforoperationafterswitchingon(chapter7.2).

IMPORTANT! Material damage and risk of injury!

Pay attention to the nominal pressure specifications of measuring connectionand adapters!

Theconnection(WAF27)isapproveduptoanominalpressureof1,000bar.ÆObserve thenominalpressurespecifica-tionsoftheintegratedmeasuringconnec-tionsandthespecifiedsafetyfactors.ÆComply with the instructions in this op-erating manual! Especially an improperinstallation of the pressure gauges andtheappropriateadaptersmightcausethetearingofthepressuregauges.

AdheretothefollowinginstructionswhenusingtheD2:• Operationandcontrol shall onlybe carriedout byauthorisedpersonnel.

• Theinstallationlocationshouldbesufficientlybrightandeasytooperate.

• Takeappropriateprecautionstoprotect thedevicefromdamage.

• Pay attention to adequate protection againstweather.NotethedegreeofprotectionaccordingtoDINEN60529(chapter4“TechnicalData”).

6.1 Connection

1.Prepare themeasurement setup for connection totheG1⁄4"maleprocessconnection.

Use adapters with corresponding nominalpressurespecificationsonly!

2.Ensure that the sealing is correctly seated in themaleprocessconnection.

3.Carefullyturnthereferencebyhandintothemeas-urementsetupthread.

4.Tighten the male processconnection with an open-endwrench(WAF27).

Theassemblingmustbeexecutedwithatorqueof25Nm.

5.Align the reference for yourapplication.

Ensure rotatability!ThecaseoftheD2canberotatedonthemaleprocessconnection.Duringdirectassembly,makesurethatnoattachmentpartsimpedetherotatability.

6.2 Battery Replacement

The battery capacity is constantly monitored by theelectronicsof theD2and indicatedbythenumberofbars(0–5bars)withinthebatterysymbol.The batteries should be replaced if no bar is visibleanymoreandthebatterysymbolflashes.TheD2isstillcompletelyfunctional.Thebatteriesmustbereplacedassoonas theaddi-tional notification “LobAtt” appears. The D2 is nolongeroperational.

CAUTION! Observe battery type and polarity!

Usingdifferenttypesofbatteriesorinsertingthebatteriesincorrectlyduringreplacementmaydamagethedevice.ÆOnlyusenewbatteriesofthesametype(LR6-AA)whenreplacing.ÆWhen inserting thebatteries,makesurethatthepolesareconnectedcorrectly.

Adhere to the following instructions when replac-ing the batteries:1.Switchoffthedevice.2.Pressthetopsectionoftherubberprotectioncapback-wards over the case andremove it in thedownwarddirectionoverthemalepro-cessconnection.

3.Openthecasebyremovingthe screws from the rearcover. Put the rear coverandthescrewsaside.

4.Removetheoldbatteries.No domestic waste!Thebatteriesneedtobedisposedof.

5.Insertthenewbatteries.Pay attention to the POLARITY!

6.Check the seating of thesealinthebackofthecaseand inspect for signs ofdamage.

7.Carefully attach the rearcoverwiththescrewstothecase.

8.Tighten the screws on thebackofthecase.

9.Pull the rubber protectioncapoverthecaseagain.Hereby,ensurethatthere-cessoftherubberbulgeonthe front isunderneath thebuttonpanel.

7. Commissioning, Switching On and Off

The digital pressure gauge D2 is supplied includ-ing batteries. The device is ready for operation afterswitchingon(chapter7.2).

7.1 Commissioning

BeforeswitchingontheD2forthefirsttimeandwhenchanging the measurement setup, please follow theinstructionsbelow.Checkif• allcomponentsofthemeasurementsetuparecon-nectedtoeachother.

• all connections are carried out properly and pres-sure-tight.

7.2 Switching On and Off

TheD2canbeswitchedonandoffwiththeON/OFF button.

Switching on:First,thedeviceperformsaself-testandafterwards,itisinthemeasuredvalueindicationmode.ÆBrieflypresstheON/OFFbutton.• All segmentsof thedigital dis-playappearbriefly.

• After that, the pressure range(FS) of the device and the re-cently used pressure unit aredisplayed.

• Thecurrent settingof theauto-maticswitch-offfollows(Po):“on”=activated;“off”=deactivated.

• Finally, the serial number andtheinstalledsoftwareversionofthedeviceisdisplayed.

• Now, the device is ready foroperationandindicatesthecur-rentmeasuredvalues.

Switching off:ÆBrieflypresstheON/OFFbutton.• The device is switched off and the display isblank.

Automatic switch-off:Withactivated“Po”function(on),thedeviceswitch-esoffafter5minutes(chapter8.3).

8. Measuring Mode and Operation of the Functions

Afterswitchingonandcompletionofthestartingpro-cedure,theD2isinthemeasuringmode.Thecurrentmeasuredvalueisindicated.

8.1 Measuring Mode

Figure1 illustratestheoperationandfunctions in themeasuringmode.

Inthemeasuringmode,youcanactivatethedifferentfunctions(chapter8.2)oraccess themenuforde-vicesettings(chapter8.1.1)oftheD2.

ON/OFFbutton:TheON/OFF button is used to switch thedeviceonandoff(chapter7.2).

Additionally, the ON/OFF button can beused to switch on the background lightingfor20s(chapter8.2).

MIN/MAX/FSbutton:Use theMIN/MAX/FS button to switch be-tweenminimumvalue(MIN),maximumval-ue (MAX) and pressure range (FS) in thestatusline(chapter8.2).

The selected range is again displayed thenexttimethedeviceisswitchedon.

MENU/ZERObutton:The MENU button is used to access themenufordevicesettings.

UsetheZERObuttontoperformazeropointadjustment.

RESET/OKbutton:WiththeRESETbutton,thecurrentMINandMAXvaluescanbedeleted.

TheOK buttonisusedtoconfirmtheselec-tioninthemenu.

Thedevicefunctions“automaticswitch-off”,“units”and“displayfilter”aresetinthemenufordevicesettings.Figure2 illustrates the procedure for the device set-tings.

AccessthemenufordevicesettingsviaMENUbutton.ÆPresstheMENUbuttonfor2s.• “Menu”appearsinthedisplay.

TheindividualfunctionsandtheavailablesettingsarecontrolledwiththeMENUbutton.ÆPresstheMENUbuttonrepeatedlyuntilthefunctionwiththedesiredsettingappears.ÆPresstheOKbuttontosavethesettingofthefunc-tion.• Theselection is savedand thedevice switchesbacktothemeasuringmode.

Automatic return! Ifnobuttonispressed,thedeviceswitches

backtothemeasuringmodeafter10s.

8.2 Operation of the Functions

Theoperationofthefunctionsinthemeasuringmodeand in themenu fordevicesettingsaredescribed inthefollowingparagraphs.

Background lighting:ÆPresstheON/OFFbuttonfor2s.• Thedisplaylightingisswitchedon.• Thelightingautomaticallyswitchesoffafter20s.

FS (FullScale) indication: The indicationof the fullscalevalue(FS) isused forbetter readability of the bargraph indication. The fullscalevalueofthepressurerangeisdisplayednumeri-callyinthestatusline.ÆPress the MIN/MAX/FS button to switch betweenMIN,MAXandFSindication.• In sequence, MIN, MAX and FS are displayedwiththeircorrespondingvaluesinthestatusline.

MIN/MAX indication: TheMIN/MAX function is used tomeasure pressurepeaks.IntheMIN/MAXmemory,thelowest(MIN)andhighest(MAX)measuredvaluesaresaved.ÆPress the MIN/MAX/FS button to switch betweenMIN,MAXandFSindication.• In sequence, MIN, MAX and FS are displayedwiththeircorrespondingvaluesinthestatusline.

TheMIN/MAXmemory isdeletedwhenthedevice isswitched off. If different pressure tests shall be per-formedsuccessively,theMIN/MAXmemoryneedstobedeletedaftereachmeasurement.

DeletionoftheMIN/MAXvalues: ÆPresstheRESET/OKbuttontodeletetheMIN/MAXvaluesandthedrag indicatorof thebargraph indi-cation.• TheMIN/MAXvaluesaresettothecurrentmeas-uredvalue.

Pressure range overstepping / “oFL” indication:The“oFL”indicationappearswhenthe current pressure is exceedingthe pressure range (≥110% FS)oftheD2.Assoonasthepressurefallswithinthepressurerange,thecurrentmeasuredvalueisindicatedagain.The MAX value continues to indicate “oFL” andneedstobereset.

If the indication“oFL”appears inanunpressurisedstate,amalfunctionoccurred.ÆPleasecontacttheARMATURENBAUGmbH.

Zero point adjustment (ZERO): Incaseofundesireddeviationsintheunpressurisedstate (atmosphericpressure), thezeropoint canbecorrectedmanually.

Measuring errors! Thezeropointadjustmentsetsthecurrent

ACTUALvaluetozero.IftheZEROfunctionisactivatedwhenpressure isapplied, thepressuremeasurementisnolongercarriedoutagainstambientpressureandmeasur-ingerrorsoccur.ÆOnly activate the ZERO function in anunpressurisedstate.

ÆPresstheMENU/ZERObutton.• “2Ero on” appears in thedisplay for 2s. The ZEROfunctioncanbeactivated.Æ Press the RESET/OK but-ton to perform the zeropointadjustment.

• The indication and the MIN/MAXvaluesareresettozero.Or

• “oFL 2Ero” appears in thedisplayfor2s.Themeasuredpressure(0bar)ishigherthan5% of the pressure range.TheZEROfunctioncannotbeperformed.

• The device switches back to the measuringmode.ÆRestoreanunpressurisedstateandpresstheMENU/ZERObuttonagain.

Resetting the zero point adjustment: The zero point adjustment is activated until the de-viceisswitchedoff.Afterswitchingonagain,thezeropointadjustmentisnolongeractivated.

8.3 Functions in the Menu for Device Settings

The following functions can be changed within the“menufordevicesettings”(chapter8.1.1).ÆTodothis,presstheMENUbuttonfor2s.• “Menu”appearsinthedisplay.ÆPresstheMENUbuttonrepeatedlyuntilthedesiredfunctionappears.

Automatic switch-off:Theautomaticswitch-offservestoextendthebatterylife.Ifthefunctionisactivated,thedeviceisswitchedoffautomaticallyafter5minutes.Ifthefunctionisdeactivated,thedeviceisinthecon-tinuousmodeandneedstobeswitchedoffmanuallyviatheON/OFFbutton.

ÆSelectthedesiredunitwiththeMENUbuttonandsaveyourselectionwiththeOKbutton.• Theselectionissavedandthedeviceswitchesbacktothemeasuringmode.

Filter setting (damping):Themenuitem“FiLt” isusedtodampentheindi-cation.ÆPresstheMENUbuttonrepeatedlyuntilthemenuitem“FiLt”appears.• “FiLt 0” appears, and tothe right of this the currentvalueisindicated(--).

Valueselection:0–5 (0=nodamping).

ÆSelectthedesiredvaluewiththeMENUbuttonandsaveyourselectionwiththeOKbutton.• Theselectionissavedandthedeviceswitchesbacktothemeasuringmode.

Indicating the serial number:Themenu item displays the serial number and thesoftwareversionofthedevice.Thesedetailsarenec-essaryforqueriesincaseofservice.Furthermore,youcanexit the“menufordeviceset-tings”viathisitemwithoutmakinganychanges.Æ PresstheMENUbuttonrepeatedlyuntilthemenuitemappears.• The serial number and thesoftwareversionappears:

9. Maintenance / Cleaning, Storage and Transport

Anymodificationsorinterventionsinthede-vice,madebythecustomer,mightdamageimportantpartsorcomponents.Such inter-ventionleadstothelossofanywarrantyandmanufacturer’sresponsibility!ÆNevermodify thedeviceor performanyrepairsyourself.

Maintenance:The digital pressure gauge D2 is maintenance-freeandcannotberepairedbytheoperator.Incaseofadefect,thedeviceneedstobereplacedorreturnedtothemanufacturerforrepair.Only the batteries are to be replaced regularly.Werecommendreplacing themwithnewonesafter11⁄2yearsatthelatest(chapter6.2).

Cleaning:• Clean theD2withadryorslightlydampened lint-freecloth.

• Donotuseanysharpobjectsoraggressiveagentsforcleaning.

Storage and transport: HANDLE WITH CARE! Electronic components!Thedeviceisequippedwithsensitiveelec-troniccomponents.

• Use theoriginalpackagingorcomparablepacka-gingfortransport.

• Avoidimpactsorstrongvibrations.• Protectthedeviceagainstmoisture.

Remove batteries!If thedevice isnot inuse forextendedperiods, thebatteriesshouldberemovedfromthedevicetopre-cludeanyleakingdamage.

10. Dismounting and Disposal

WARNING! Risk of injury!Never remove thedevice fromasystem inoperation.

Make sure that the system is switched offprofessionally.

Before dismounting:Checkbeforedismounting,whetherthesystem• isswitchedoff,• isinasafeandcurrentlessstate,• isunpressurisedandcooleddown.

Dismounting: Æ Payattentiontopotentiallyleakingmedia.Takeap-propriateprecautionstocollectthem.Æ Loosenthemaleprocessconnectionwithanopen-endwrench(WAF27).Æ ManuallyturntheD2outofthemeasurementsetup.

Disposal:Incompliancewiththedirectives2011/65/EU(RoHS)and2012/19/EU(WEEE),thedevicemustbedisposedseparatelyaselectrical andelectronicwaste.Pleaseregardlegalregulationsofthecountryofdistribution.

NO DOMESTIC WASTE! TheD2comprisesvariousmaterials.Itshall

not be disposed together with domesticwaste.
