Technical safety

Unauthorised installation, maintenance and repairs can causeconsiderable danger for the user. Installation, maintenance andrepairs must only be carried out by a Miele authorised technician.

A damaged wok can be dangerous. Check it for visible signs ofdamage. Do not use a damaged appliance.

Reliable and safe operation of the wok can only be assured if ithas been connected to the mains electrical supply.

The electrical safety of this wok can only be guaranteed whencorrectly earthed. It is essential that this standard safety requirementis met. If in any doubt please have the electrical installation tested bya registered electrical worker.

To avoid the risk of damage to the wok, make sure that theconnection data on the data plate (voltage and frequency) match themains electricity supply before connecting it to the mains. Consult aregistered electrical worker if in doubt.

Do not connect the wok to the mains electricity supply by a multi-socket unit or an extension lead. These do not guarantee therequired safety of the appliance (fire hazard).

For safety reasons, this wok may only be used after it has beenbuilt in.

This wok must not be used in a non-stationary location (e.g. on aship).

Never open the casing of the wok.Touching or tampering with electrical connections or componentsand mechanical parts is highly dangerous to the user and can causeoperational faults.

While the wok is under warranty repairs should only beundertaken by a Miele authorised service technician. Otherwise thewarranty is invalidated.

Miele can only guarantee the safety of the appliance whengenuine original Miele replacement parts are used. Faultycomponents must only be replaced by Miele spare parts.

The wok is not intended for use with an external timer switch or aremote control system.

Connection to the gas supply must be carried out by a registeredgas installer. The wok may be connected to the electrical supply by afused plug and switched socket. If you wish to connect it to a fusedspur connection, or if the plug has been removed or the connectioncable is not supplied with a plug, the hob must be connected to themains supply by a registered electrical worker.

During installation, maintenance and repair work, the hob must bedisconnected from the mains electricity supply. The gas supply mustalso be shut off. Depending on territory this is done in one of severaldifferent ways:

– the mains fuse has been disconnected, or

– the screw-out fuse is removed (if applicable), or

– switch off at the wall socket and withdraw the plug from thesocket. Pull by the plug and not by the mains connection cable todisconnect from the mains electricity supply.

– the gas inlet valve is closed.

Danger of electric shock!Do not use the hob if it is faulty. Shut off the gas supply and contactMiele.

If the wok is installed behind a furniture door, do not close thedoor while the appliance is in operation. Heat and moisture wouldbuild up behind a closed furniture door, potentially causing damageto the appliance, the furniture unit and the flooring. Wait until theappliance has cooled down completely before closing the furnituredoor.

Correct use

The wok gets hot when in use and remains hot for some time afterbeing switched off. Do not touch the appliance if there is a possibilitythat it could still be hot.

Do not use the wok to heat up the room.Due to the high temperatures radiated, objects left near the wokcould catch fire.

Overheated fat and oil can ignite and catch fire. Never leave thewok unattended. Do not attempt to extinguish burning oil or fat withwater. Switch the wok off and carefully smother the flames with a fireblanket or a damp tea towel

Flames could set the grease filters of a cooker hood on fire. Donot flambé under a cooker hood.

Spray canisters, aerosols and other inflammable substances canignite when heated. Therefore do not store such items or substancesin a drawer under the wok. Cutlery inserts must be heat-resistant.

Do not heat an empty pan.

Do not heat up food in closed containers e.g. tins or sealed jarson the wok, as pressure will build up in the container which couldcause it to explode.

Do not cover the wok, e.g. with a cover, a cloth or protective foil. The material could catch fire, shatter or melt if the appliance isswitched on by mistake or if residual heat is still present.

When the wok is switched on either deliberately or by mistake, orwhen there is residual heat present, there is the risk of any metalitems left on the wok heating up, with the danger of burning.Depending on the material, other items left on the wok could alsomelt or catch fire. Do not use the wok as a resting place.

Page 12: Operating and installation instructions Gas wok burner · Operating and installation instructions Gas wok burner To avoid the risk of accidents or damage to the appliance it is essential

Warning and Safety instructions

12

You could burn yourself on the hot wok. Protect your hands withheat-resistant pot holders or gloves when handling hot pots andpans. Do not let them get wet or damp, as this causes heat totransfer through the material more quickly with the risk of scalding orburning yourself on steam. Be sure to keep all textiles away from thegas flames. Do not use oversized cloths, tea towels or other similarmaterials.

When using an electrical appliance, e.g. a hand-held food blender, near the wok, ensure that the cable of the electrical appliance cannotcome into contact with the hot wok. The insulation on the cablecould become damaged.

Plastic and aluminium foil containers melt at high temperatures.Do not use plastic or aluminium foil containers on the hob.

If a cooker hood is installed above the wok, ensure that theburners are always covered with a pan when in use. Otherwiseflames could reach the cooker hood, parts of which could then bedamaged or even set on fire.

Only light the gas burners after all burner parts have been properlyassembled.

Pans must be the correct size for the burner they are used on (see"Pans"). A pan which is too small will be unstable on the pansupport. If the pan diameter is too large, flames can spread out tothe sides and damage or burn the worktop, wall claddings orsurrounding units and also parts of the cooktop. Miele cannot beheld liable for this type of damage.

Ensure that the flames from the burner do not spread out beyondthe base and up the sides of the pan.

Do not use pans with very thin bases on this hob, and never heatup empty pans as they could get damaged. This could also damagethe appliance.

Page 13: Operating and installation instructions Gas wok burner · Operating and installation instructions Gas wok burner To avoid the risk of accidents or damage to the appliance it is essential

Warning and Safety instructions

13

The pan support supplied with the appliance must always beused. Never place a pan on the burner itself.

Replace the pan supports carefully to avoid scratching the surfaceof the hob.

Do not use or store flammable materials near this appliance.

Remove all grease spatters and other combustible (food) residuesfrom the wok burner as soon possible. They are a fire hazard.

Avoid allowing liquids or foods containing salt to spill onto thehob. If salty foods or liquids do get on the hob, they should beremoved as soon as possible to avoid the risk of corrosion.

The use of the wok creates heat, moisture and combustionproducts in the room where it is installed. Make sure that theappliance is installed in a location with sufficient ventilation. Naturalventilation openings should not be blocked. Alternatively, amechanical ventilation device (e.g. a cooker hood) can be installed.

Prolonged intensive use of the wok may require additionalventilation of the room, e.g., by opening a window, or by operatingthe cooker hood on a higher setting.

If the wok has not been used for a longer period of time, it shouldbe thoroughly cleaned before it is used again. It is also advisable tohave it tested by registered gas installer for safety. This should bedone at regular intervals.

Where several CombiSets are installed side by side:Hot objects can damage the seal of the cover strip between theappliances. Do not place hot pans near or on the cover strip.

Calculating the worktop cut-out

The frames of the CombiSets overlap the worktop at the outside right and left by8 mm on each side.

Add up the widths of the CombiSets and subtract 16 mm from this figure.

Example:288 mm + 288 mm + 380 mm = 956 mm - 16 mm = 940 mm

The CombiSets are 288 mm, 380 mm or 576 mm wide depending on model (see"Building-in dimensions").

Spacer barsWhen building-in several CombiSets a spacer bar must be fitted between eachCombiSet. The position for securing the spacer bar will depend on the width of theCombiSet.
