2 Important InformationThis section lists important information that affects the OpenStage 60/80 TDM product.

Because of a critical error in V2R0.95.0 there is the only possibility to bring other SW(upgrade or downgrade) on a phone where V2R0.95.0 is installed when using theinstallation via memory stick. (See chapter V2.1 / V2.1.1)

Start-up: Sporadically, the phone may perform two reboots after a power cycling or forced restart (byupdate or otherwise) before coming in service.

Timestamps in the tracelogs will not reflect the actual time and date.

Usage of the new delivered prepare.img is important for phones with new displays, when you will update SW via USB-Stick.

    2.1 Installation

The software can be installed via USB method, via HiPathManager SW-transfer at H3K and via TSDMat H4k.Some USB memory sticks will not be indentified as an USB memory stick by the phone, if that is thecase try another stick type or manufacturer. Advisable and tested USB memory sticks are:

2.1.1 Manual USB Method- Copy the official SW bind (OS_..._TDM_V2_R1_4_0.bin) and the file prepare.img to the root

of the USB stick. The memory stick should contain no other files and be new formatted withFAT.

    - Remove USB stick from PC.- Power off the phone.- Connect USB stick with USB master port of the phone. You might need a standard USB

extension cable to connect the stick with the phone.- Power on the phone. If the phone does detect the USB stick correctly, you will see the

following output on the LCD:SLBL: 1.1.0_001x_hs (x depends on production)Boot: 1.3.1_001x_hs_nand128 (x depends on production)

    - Enter update code using the FPKs. Update is only starting if the correct FPK sequence isentered: 0167. FPKs are counted from top to bottom: the topmost FPK is refered as 0 andthe lowermost as 7. When you do not press any FPK or enter a wrong code the phone willcontinue with booting the phone application.

    - If the correct FPK sequence is entered, the USB update starts. Update progress can beobservered on the LCD.

    - Update progress finished when you see the following text:Update script succeeded.Copy logs to USB sick directory log//Copy logs to USB stick done.Unmounting USB device and exitPlease remove USB device to reboot!

The update process copies some log files to the USB stick, that you will find in the log-directory of the stick.

    - Disconnect USB stick from phone. If update has been successful in the previous steps thephone will do an automatic restart. It will start up with the new SW bind.

2.1.2 HiPath 4000 TDM Software Download Manager (TSDM)Additional to HiPath4000 Assistant TSDM documentation following information is very important:

When using TSDM for SW deployment in B-Channel replication modus, following steps aresuggested:

1.) add column "Alt Firmware" at the TSDM Main Page via "Devices" -> "Column Selection",choose "Alt Firmware"

2.) choose a device as source for the replication with the "Alt Firmware", you want to download tothe destination endpoints (if "Alt Firmware" field is empty, no Firmware for replicationavailable)

3.) if there is no source device with the correct "Alt Firmware", download the SW with source"file", you want to replicate

4.) after download from file, "Alt Firmware" and "Firmware" are that from the SW file and you maystart the B-channel replication

Important for SW upgrade at HiPath 4K via replication for scenarios with OST phone adapters:Slave Phone can't be used as source for B-channel replication, if the bind of the slave phone is older thanV2R0.81.0.In such cases we propose to make SW upgrade of the bind from system via D-channel.

For software installation at H4K in special scenarios H4K Patches are necessary (see chapter 5.6)

    2.2 Upgrade / Update

    2.5 Special settings and instructions

2.5.1 Creation of Logo FilesFrom version V2R0.65.0 onwards the background from the Skin Display changed and logo files needsa new background.

In the following, the creation of a transparent image suitable for use as a logo in OpenStage 60/80 isdescribed. This description is based on Adobe Photoshop, but any similar graphics software can beused as well.

Because of performance issues, half transparency in the alpha channel of the PNG files is not allowedon OpenStage phones. Therefore only 100% transparency or no transparency is used in the phonesUI elements.

  • Release Note page 9 (of 16) OST 60/80 T V2R1.4.0

Select the Background ColorFor production purposes, we set the background color to the background color of the skin currentlyselected on the phone. Later, the background color will be replaced by transparency, which facilitatesplacing a logo on a gradient background. The following table lists the hexadecimal values, as used inHTML:

    AdobePhotoshop:Click on theBackground Color

icon on the Color palette group, then type the color code without leading "#" into the # field)

2.5.2 Usage of power supplies (PSU)One PSU at the phone is necessary (otherwise the phone will come up in emergency mode).

    2.5.3 HeadsetsAt HiPath 4000 the headset should be set with indication as standard for the subscriber.AMO: change-sbcsu:stno=xxx,opt=opti,headset=withind;

The user has to set the kind of headset that is connected at: Settings User Audio SettingsHeadset socket. (Bluetooth headsets are not affected by this configuration parameter.) It is importantto set the parameter correctly. DECT headsets have to be set to Cordless headset, while the wiredheadsets have to be set to Wired headset. The third parameter Conference unit is for the Konftelconference unit.

Supported headsets can be found under:

    http://wiki.unify.com/index.php/OpenStage_Headsets

2.5.4 Conference unitSupported is only the Konftel 60W conference unit, for wired connection only together with theconnection cable (Konftel articlenumber: 900103403) for Konftel 60W and Unify OpenStage phones.

The user has to set following parameter to Conference unit: Settings User Audio SettingsHeadset socket.

2.5.6 OpenStage ManagerConnecting the OpenStage Manager to the phone manually:Connect the phone with an USB cable to the PC. A RNDIS-driver is needed on the PC to have anUSB-networkinterface. The USB-networkinterface needs an IP address in the same range like thephone. In standard the phone has the IP address 192.168.200.1 with subnetmask 255.255.255.0 butis changeable in the adminmenu. A userpassword has to be set in the usermenu at the phone. At theOpenStage Manager you have to enter the IP address of the phone and the before givenuserpassword to connect it.

2.5.7 KeymodulKeymodules are not hot plugable. One or two OpenStage 60 or 80 keymodules are supported.

2.5.8 Web-based Management (WBM)Only the trace configuration feature is supported for TDM at the WBM.

2.5.9 Memory monitorThe memory monitor under Admin Maintenance is activated as standard. The memory monitorreboots the phone in two ways, when the phone memory reaches the set values.
