Education at WillowsOur experienced guides provide many learning opportunities with a choice of curriculum-linked activities or a more informal guided farm visit with a packed programme of fun.

There’s so much to doDemonstrations: Included in your visit are demonstrations and fun activities including Animal Racing.

Adorable Animals: Meet rabbits, goats and pigs in our under cover barn plus bigger farmyard friends such as sheep and cows in our paddocks.

Tractor Tour: Take a ride on Tristan the Runaway Tractor to see the countryside and enjoy the bumps along the way!

Growing Patch: See many varied crops and vegetables and guess what’s growing above and below ground (Subject to weather and time of year).

Willows Guides: Our friendly guides lead the themed activities and ensure that children gain the maximum benefit from their visit. Guides are free (subject to availability) when requested for bookings of £145 or more. For bookings under this value, guides can be booked for a fee.

O An under cover lunch area is available and there are also shaded picnic areas.

O Health and Safety advice sheets provided to teachers/group leaders.

O Willows Group Risk Assessment available plus free familiarisation visit to complete own assessment.

O Teachers/group leaders have the option, at their discretion, to take their group into Woolly Jumpers indoor play barn. Guides are not responsible for the group should they enter Woolly Jumpers. Height restrictions apply, socks must be worn and arms and legs must be covered to ride the slides.

Early Years (Pre-School)A visit to Willows Activity Farm offers a safe and secure environment for young children to develop their skills. Choose one option (on the booking form) from the following:

O The Wonder of Willows. Our structured tour helps meet many of the early learning goals to build confidence and develop imagination with story telling and animal encounters.

O Farm animal families and feasts. A real life version of the popular matching game – matching the animal to their young, diet and produce, supporting development of communication and language and understanding the world.

O Count your chickens! A simple counting game in a real life setting, helping children’s mathematical development while having fun.

O NEW Know your rabbits. Inspired by our friend Peter Rabbit, a multi-sensory, interactive look at rabbits and their care as pets.

Key Stage 1 (5-7 years)Choose one option (on the booking form) from the themes below, each linked to the curriculum:

O Being alive! What tells us an animal is alive? On your visit look for clues of animals moving, reproducing, growing, eating, having senses, breathing and pooing! (Science; Literacy)

O Animal homes. What are the five needs that all animals have? Should we look after our pets in the same way? Find out how the animals at Willows are cared for. (Science; Literacy; Citizenship; PSHE)
