WHATISTHEHISTORYOFMAPICANDHOWDOESITREMAINTHEINDUSTRY'SPRE-EMINENTEVENT?
The concept of MAPIC seems simple and obvious today, but when it was launched in 1995, it was both audacious and visionary. The idea of giving international retailers a large overview of sites where they could develop on an international scale, not only in shopping centers but also in cities, factory outlets, leisure areas, and transit zones, anticipated the massive development of retail beyond the traditional high street. MAPIC keeps increasing thanks to its strong internationalization and to the dynamism and creativity of the retail real estate players who are always ready to move forward to find new opportunities to develop. Over the years, the retail real estate industry went through many ups and downs but MAPIC remained at the forefront of the industry, welcoming a large number of new retail brands and developers from around the world.

MAPIC is a marketplace where participants are doing business. The retail real estate industry is evolving fast as new trends are changing consumers’ habits. These changes generate new opportunities for retail real estate players and we do our best at MAPIC to keep showcasing them to our clients.The impact of digital on retail, with topics such as omnichannel and the collection and processing of data, but also which brick and mortar solutions can suit digital players’ needs, will be key topics at this year’s MAPIC. It will be particularly discussed and analyzed at the MAPIC Innovation Forum, an area of the exhibition hall dedicated to innovation, where delegates can attend conferences and presentations to learn about the use of innovative technologies and solutions to increase footfall and retail property value.A strong focus on entertainment in shopping centers or retailtainment will be done at MAPIC, highlighting the fact that shopping centers are increasingly becoming leisure destinations and not merely places to “shop and go.” A dedicated pavilion will bring together new market players from the retailtainment industry and experts in this industry will speak in the official conference programme.The efficiency and return on investment of pop-up stores, which are developing fast and can take multiple forms, will be discussed in a dedicated conference session. The IFLS (Institut Français du Libre Service) ran a study on pop-up stores for MAPIC whose conclusions will be presented during the show.

The United States is a pioneer in the retail industry and has been represented at MAPIC since the first edition. The United States has always been dynamic and creative whether in the field of shopping centers, retail brands, retailtaiment or digital. That is the reason why we chose the USA as the Country of Honor at MAPIC 2015. A pavilion dedicated to key North American players in the retail real estate industry and several sessions of the conference programme will focus on the US retail market and its specificities.

Filippo Rean joined Reed MIDEM in October 2010 as Director of MIPIM and MIPIM Asia, the leading international real estate tradeshows and conferences. Since September 2014, he has become Director of Reed MIDEM’s Real Estate Division, hence is in charge of supervising all MIPIM & MAPIC markets.
He started his career in the marketing department of Procter & Gamble in Italy and then joined Bain & Company where he focused his activity on the financial sector and real estate. He joined the European headquarters of GE Capital Real Estate in Paris in 2005 and held various roles in strategic marketing and product development.
Filippo Rean has an engineering degree from the Politecnico di Torino, holds an MBA in Business Administration from Harvard and is fluent in Italian - his mother tongue - English and French.

After 3 years involved in the Real Estate management and investment industry, Nathalie Depetro joined Reed MIDEM in 1995 as sales manager for the launch of MAPIC "the international market for retail real estate." Then she moved onto the position of MAPIC Sales Director in 2003 and subsequently became Director of MAPIC in 2010.
Nathalie has also worked on the creation of Global City "the international forum for sustainable cities" in Abu Dhabi.
As Director of MAPIC, Nathalie launched the first MAPIC event in Shanghai, China that took place in June 2015. She is also involved in the launching of a MAPIC event in Italy, the first edition of which has been announced for May 2016.
Nathalie Depetro graduated with a Masters in Real Estate Law.

homepage of the website, where you will see a link to activate your account.о If you have already activated your account, you can
access the login page by clicking on ‘Logintodatabase’ on the homepage of the websites. о If you have forgotten your password, click on the
proper link ‘Activate your account or reset yourpassword’
Browse through the Database for the company/attendee you are interested in contacting.
You can downloadthelistof companies and registered participants from your database homepage. For anti-spam reasons, the participant’s emails are not available in the Excel file.
You can freely access all the Press Releases in the Online Database without being logged-in. Just click on the tab My Mapic then My Database and Press Releases.
