• Go to: http://www.openfoam.com/download/install-windows.php
• Download software by clicking on the link

Before installation
• Check the BIOS/EFI if virtualization is enabled. If not, turn on virtualization and reboot the PC.

• The correct configuration of the virtualization setting is checked• for Win8, Win10:
• Task manager (see picture)

• Check PowerShell version• Start PowerShell
• Type „get-host“ (no quotation marks)
• If the Version is ≥2.0, proceed to next step
• Update PowerShell if necessary

• We also recommend uninstalling the following Software (if present)• Git
• Docker
• Older Versions of OpenFOAM®

• Open the downloaded file and continue clicking through the prompts.
• We recommend using the default installation directories to avoid problems

Configuring the virtual machine
• Start Oracle VM VirtualBox

• Choose the „default“ virtual machine
• Click on the yellow gear to access the options

• Set the amount of RAM
• We recommend leaving some RAM to ensure the stability of the Windows host system (approx. 1GB)

• Increase the number of CPUs to the desired amount.

Changing the shared directory (optional)
• If required the directory that links the virtual machine and the host system can be changed
• IMPORTANT: Name must be „c/users“ (no quotation marks), or you will get writing permission errors!
• The virtual machine will always create a new folder with your username inside the one you specify!

First start of OpenFOAM®
• Download test case from following the link:• LINK
• Unpack the folder into shared directory

• You now have 2 Shortcuts on your desktop:

• Right-click „OF_Env_create“ and run „as administrator“
• IMPORTANT: This must only be done once after installation!

• Start OpenFOAM® by double-clicking the shown icon
• Type: • cd workingDir
• cd mvrc_testCase2share
• bash runCase.sh
• The case should run and .log files should be generated in the shared directory

Done!If the test runs successfully, you are ready to install MantinumWFlow!
