Primary Challenges
1 - Innovation & Integration – systems and technologies... must be further expanded and integrated into PORs to achieve levels of effectiveness, efficiency, affordability, commonality, interoperability, integration
2 – Economics – downward economic forces will continue to constrain Military budgets
3 – Changing Threats / Environments – changing national security environment poses unique challenges

As the (DoD) roadmap made clear,..the Pentagon is increasingly looking for ways to cut spending on logistics and maintenance.
Military Taking Larger Role In Drone Sustainment
As the conflict in Afghanistan draws to a close, the Defense Department finds itself having to maintain unmanned aircraft fleets with less money and fewer resources.
(funding for) the U.S. Military drone market – which includes procurement and research, development, testing and evaluation funding..will be flat for the next five years.
DoD Unmanned Systems Integrated Roadmap (2013-2038)
“While the demand for unmanned systems continues... a number of factors will influence unmanned program development in the future.”
