For this exhibit, I have tried to capture the beauty of these skies in both black and white and color pastel. They strive to present music in in- novative ways, with an emphasis on thematic programming. For their Queens New Music Fes- tival performance, Comp Cord Ensemble will be joined by Bill Schimmel – accordion, Deme- trius Spaneas – soprano sax, Damien Bassman – drums, and Jacob Miller – poet/narrator. The program will feature music of each composer/performer. Each of the compositions was written for this particular ensemble, and highlights the perform- ers’ abilities, while giving the composers a unique opportunity to write for an unusual, mixed- instrumental combination. The styles of the compositions range the spectrum of musical sound, and the only words that could describe them all would be: eclectic, all-encompassing, and genre-blurring. (see Fri. QNMF for details) QNMF: TAK Ensemble May 18 // 4pm TAK is a New York based cham- ber group dedicated to the col- laborative exploration and cre- ation of new music. Further up the Blvd, pop into Matted LIC, then cross over for a slice and old-world charm at Manducatis Rustica while you drink in art. Taking a walk towards the river, get an amazing view from the 8th floor of the brand new TFCornerstone apartments, where there are 5 solo shows in gallery-like apartments overlooking Manhattan. He was a resident of Queens for more than 45 years, and in that time contributed works that can only be described as masterpieces. It is time for us to give him his due, and the easiest way we can do that is simply by looking. After all, he left us so much to see.

We see the greatest music as a transcendent bridge between worlds; such music is naturally experienced sensually and intuitively rather than intel-lectually. Thus, rather than focusing on a particular time period or genre, we look toward the essence of the music’s effect. Curating the full atmosphere of each event, Ghost Ensemble explores both tradi-tional and non-traditional venues to expand the musical experience; the familiar becomes unfamiliar through musical transcendence, while unexpected and unexplored places become a new layer of beauty. We can also allow some of the audience to experience flying the airplane by means of an extra remote control radio. QNMF: Composers ConcordanceMay 18 // 2pm Composers Concordance is a presenting organization for contemporary music with a 31-year-history of producing concerts in New York City. They strive to present music in in-novative ways, with an emphasis on thematic programming. For their Queens New Music Fes-tival performance, Comp Cord Ensemble will be joined by Bill Schimmel – accordion, Deme-trius Spaneas – soprano sax, Damien Bassman – drums, and Jacob Miller – poet/narrator. The program will feature music of each composer/performer. Each of the compositions was written for this particular ensemble, and highlights the perform-ers’ abilities, while giving the composers a unique opportunity to write for an unusual, mixed-instrumental combination. The styles of the compositions range the spectrum of musical sound, and the only words that could describe them all would be: eclectic, all-encompassing, and genre-blurring.(see Fri.
