EEF Cyber Security for Manufacturing 2018 report

• 91% is investing, or intend to invest in digital technologies

• 35% consider cyber-vulnerability inhibits them from doing so fully

• Manufacturing third most attacked sector

• Attacks: obtaining IP or internal operational information; ransomware attacks; fraud for financial gain through phishing

Page 7: Open H2020 calls ICT - SusChemsuschem.org/files/library/02_-20181023-SusChem.pdf · Open H2020 calls – ICT Arian Zwegers Technologies & Systems for Digitising Industry, DG CONNECT/A2,

So where does this leave us?

• From losing data and money, to potentially losing lives??

• From switching off computers, to switching off chemical plants??

• From a factory as a fortress, to interconnected supply chains??

• From teenagers in basements, to state-funded professionals??

• From internal sourcing, to outsourcing IT??

• From … to more or less risks with open source software??

• From security-by-design, to security-by-design??

• So, nothing but problems…

• Then, how to go from problems to solutions?????
