What is ABATE? American Bikers Aimed Toward Education is a not-for-profit cor-poration formed to promote and protect the interests of New York State motorcyclists. ABATE monitors and interacts with the legis-lative process, enhancing the image of the sport and providing educational and social opportunities for members as well as non-members. ABATE will continue to strive to become acquainted with both the issues and the people of the motorcycling communi-ty. WE ENCOURAGE ALL OUR MEMBERS TO BE IN-FORMED REGISTERED VOTERS. ABATE of New York, Inc. supports the Motorcycle Rider Education classes currently being offered throughout New York State. We welcome interested per-sons to any of our activities and to join our organization.

A contact, Mari, has finally been made that is excited to assist in getting our motorcycle awareness info into the program. Volunteers will be needed. -DOT Contact with Alex Walsh continues to be made. A Traffic Safety Advisory Board is in place. There are pub-lic meetings posted to the DOT website to take complaints re: road conditions. VP: - DMV Project is coming together. We will be handing out ABATE bags stuffed with fliers and education pertain-ing to motorcycle safety and awareness. This is information NOT otherwise provided by the state of NY to drivers. Sign up sheets for volunteers to help with stuffing bags and helping hand them out are at the hall. Dates are still ten-tative. -Death and Dismemberment Policies attached to memberships. There have been questions regarding calls from in-surance sales reps. Lisa and Jerry allowed a rep into their home to find out why we are getting these calls. Visits to home are so you can sign the actual Policy Contract, assign a beneficiary and receive a copy for your records. They will attempt to sell you additional benefits, but you are in no way obligated. Find out more at NIlife.com -Thank you to all that helped so much for Skip’s Memorial at the Loop on 07MAR. Report cont’d: TREAS/SEC/MEMBER: -No report from treasury as bank statements not yet received. -Membership at 182: 10 associate, 7 life-time, 166 full-time. LEGISLATIVE: -AMA application for Albany ride is still underway. -Plans to reintroduce expired motorcycle bills this year. MSTR AT ARMS: -Thank you again for help with Skip’s Memorial -Spring is coming. Call 1800 POT HOLES!!!! Fliers are available at the hall with numbers and email addresses. Email pictures if possible from your smart phone. Use as much detail as possible. -Suggestion: A one time flier mailing of our year agenda to all members. MOTION: Popcorn, 2nd Heather; all in favor. -Joker Run: 2nd option on route through/around B-ville was voted on and approved at Officer Meeting. The route will be printed and copies will be available with contacts in case anyone were be separated or in need of assis-tance from chase vehicles. -Bike Blessing: The traditional route will be kept. We are in need of Road Guards for heavy intersections. Please encourage use of safety vests. We are a Safety Awareness organization. -OLD BUSINESS: Bike Blessing(26APR): Kick stands up at 1330, blessing at the church to begin 1400. Rd Cpt to have preset road guards with safety vests at major intersections. Mstr at Arms to have preset Sgts at the church to assist with parking. -Volunteers: Sign up sheets available at the hall for BOCES Driver’s Ed presentation DMV Project Come sign up!!! NEW BUSINESS: State Meeting: -The letter Ben wrote explaining motorcyclist views on supporting charities alongside motorcycle profiling was voted down at state meeting. Per Jerry, plans are to reintroduce the letter with revisions. Sate Chapter Meeting/Albany Freedom Rally (17MAY-18MAY): -Depart from meeting Hall 17MAY at 0900 -There will be no state party this year. Attendance is still encouraged. Lets represent our chapter strongly this year. -Suggestion: People in attendance at meeting have overnight accommodations for the next day’s run reimbursed. MOTION: Heather, 2nd Ben. All in favor. -M&T Bank charges ABATE of NY 30% for all credit card processing for memberships. Encourage new and renewing members to use cash or PayPal. -Region C meeting is on 29APR at 1600 and will be hosted at Onondaga Chptr Meeting Hall. We will provide coffee and donuts as we have no travel expense this time. Motion to Adjourn at 1345: Lisa, 2ndPopcorn.
