SYLLABUS Online Staff Development Workshop – Infinite Campus Workshop Description; This course is an online professional development workshop for teachers and other school personnel. The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with an understanding of how Infinite Campus works and can be an effective way to keep up with grades online. It also will inform teachers and school personnel of the use of SLDS to find student and teacher resources that can be used in the classroom. Workshop Objectives / Goals: Teachers / Faculty members will be able to accurately take attendance in the Infinite Campus Program. Teachers / Faculty members will create assignments for each class that he or she teaches in the Infinite Campus Program. Teachers / Faculty members will be able to copy assignments from one class to another if needed in the Infinite Campus Program. Teachers / Faculty members will be able to maintain a parent contact log in the Infinite Campus Program. Teachers / Faculty members will be able to post grades for progress reports and reports cards by using the Infinite Campus Program. Teachers / Faculty members will use the Campus Tools toolbar to summarize student information. Online Staff Development Workshop – Infinite Campus

Workshop Description; This course is an online professional development workshop for teachers and other school personnel. The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with an understanding of how Infinite Campus works and can be an effective way to keep up with grades online. Workshop Objectives / Goals:

NETS-T:

1) FACILITATE AND INSPIRE STUDENT LEARNING AND CREATIVITY:

Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.

2) DESIGN AND DEVELOP DIGITAL AGE LEARNING EXPERIENCES AND ASSESSMENTS:

Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS·S.

3) MODEL DIGITAL AGE WORK AND LEARNING:

Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society.

4) PROMOTE AND MODEL DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Teachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices.

5) ENGAGE IN PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND LEADERSHIP:

Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources.

Workshop Activities:

Participants will brainstorm and describe how they are currently using technology in their classrooms.

Participants will view a slide show presentation of innovative ways to use technology in the classroom.

Workshop Assignments:

1. Teachers will correctly enter attendance 2. Teachers will create assignments and input grades into the Infinite Campus

Gradebook system.

A. Teachers will create titles, apply appropriate dates, assign categories and use appropriate abbreviations for given assignments.

B. Teachers will accurately input grades into the Infinite Campus Gradebook System for each student.

C. Teachers will accurately post grades for progress reports and report cards.

3. Teachers will copy assignments from one class period to another class period of the same subject.

4. Teachers will find personal information about students by using the Campus Tools tab.A. Teachers will find general information about students, such as address,

phone numbers, and emergency contacts.B. Teachers will find a summary statement of students’ attendance.C. Teachers will find students’ previous grades from earlier progress reports

and report cards.5. Teachers will find resources in SLDS to help create lessons and activities.

Workshop Evaluation:

Participants will provide feedback through an instructor supplied survey of the course effectiveness.

Instructor / Student Interaction Expectations:

Participants are expected to fully participate in online learning activities. Participants are expected to communicate in a professional manner at all times. The instructor is expected to have an online presence and answer all questions and comments within 24 hours. If there are any questions, please contact the instructor.

Academic Honesty Policy:

Participants are expected to maintain academic honesty throughout the workshop. This means that participants are required to complete all assignments, and all assignments must be the participant’s own work. Plagiarism will not be

accepted. Participants are required to cite references when needed. If the instructor determines that the use of someone else’s work is present, the participant will be asked to resubmit their assignment. If the problem continues, the instructor will report the offense to the administrator, and the participant may be withdrawn from the workshop.
