How to Access Safety Data

Sheets (SDS) From The Cleveland

Clinic Intranet

Step 1: Click on the Safety Data

Sheets link under Alerts tab on the

Intranet Home Page

SDS are available on the Cleveland Clinic Intranet Home Page

Step 2: Type the product name or

product code exactly as it appears

on the product label into the search

box. Include any hyphens that appear

in the product name.

Example: Super Sani-Cloth

Germicidal Disposable Wipe

Type Super Sani-Cloth in the

search box and press either the

enter key or the magnifying glass

icon to the right of the search box.

The newest version

is listed first. Click on

either the pdf folder

icon or the product

name to bring up the

safety data sheet.

Click on the square with

the protruding arrow to

enlarge the view box

The safety data sheet will

be displayed on the

monitor for you to scroll

down and review.

Let’s look at another

example.

Alcare Plus Foam Hand Sanitizer

Make sure you are on the

MSDSOnline Search screen. If not,

click on the blue box with the

diamond.

Enter the product name

Alcare Plus and press the

enter key or click on the

magnifying glass to the

right of the search box.

Click on either the pdf

icon or the product name.

Click on either the pdf

icon or the product

name

Caregivers should pay

particular attention to the

following sections of the SDS

• Section 2 – Hazard Identification –

know the hazards of the chemical

before you work with them

• Section 4 – First Aid Measures – what

to do in the event of a chemical injury

Section 8 – Exposure Control/Personal

Protection – steps that can be taken to

prevent overexposure to chemicals and

the proper PPE to wear

SDS Back-Up Plan

• If the online system is unavailable due to

power outage or system malfunction, dial

• Provide the support person with the

product name and manufacturer

• Information will be disseminated over the

telephone

• Use for emergency access only. Do not

use the phone number for routine SDS

requests
