Carter’s Comments

The path forward is always unknown and full of mystery and opportunity. Knowing where the path is taking you requires some understanding of where the path has been. Greenacres Foundation’s path began officially in 1988 when the Foundation was formed, but the idea of Greenacres was born in 1974 in the dreams of Louis Nippert. The initial dream was to develop a place where children could come to learn about agriculture and the environment. Between 1974 and 1988 the idea grew and garnered the input of Mrs. Nippert and others. The result was that in 1988 Greenacres was born to provide a place for children of all ages to learn about the environment, sustainable agriculture, and the classic arts. Each of these topics should cross everyone’s path so that we are grounded in our natural surroundings, we understand that we borrow the earth from our grandchildren, and we celebrate the talents of our friends.

Greenacres Summer Camps are full of mystery and opportunity. Campers will have opportunities to become grounded in the science of the environment. They will learn that when we take care of what we have, it can take care of us and those who follow in our footsteps. They will develop talents that help celebrate the milestones they achieve as they travel their own paths.

Our campers will have some fun, learn about mysteries along the way and celebrate their talents. They will find that Greenacres Summer Camps make memories that will last a lifetime, and when they look back at their path, they will smile when they recall their Greenacres summer.

A professional transportation service will bring campers to the Arts Center from their morning camp then pick them up to take them to their afternoon camp. Campers do not need to be registered for a full day of camps to take advantage of this opportunity. For some campers it will be a pre-camp experience or a post-camp experience; others will be able to take advantage of this as a way to fill the gap between morning and afternoon camps.
