Kent County has adopted a pet waste program to aid in the reduction of pollution in Kent County parks, rivers and the
Chesapeake Bay. The program follows guidelines recommended by the Maryland Department of the Environment.
Help Kent County Stop Pointless Poo-llution! Studies have found that roughly 40 percent of Americans don't pick up their dogs' waste. You can help by picking up after your dog 100 percent of the time. Below are some tips on what you can do to help keep Kent County waters, parks and residential properties clean and healthy:
• Always clean up after your dog on walks and remind your neighbors and friends to do the same.
• Don't wait to scoop in your own yard - keep an eye out and scoop immediately.
• Take multiple bags on walks, just in case.
• Throw out pet waste in a bio-degradable bag OR flush waste down the toilet (where it will eventually end up in a wastewater treatment plant).
• Do NOT throw dog waste in a compost bin. Do More to Protect Betterton Beach and Kent County Parks
• Always carry a plastic bag to pick up your pet's waste. Do not throw pet waste near a storm drain - use a trash can. Waste can also be flushed down a toilet, but please don't flush the bag. Make sure to dispose of pet waste in a sealed bag so it doesn't spill during trash collection.
Questions? Need More Info?
If you have questions or would like additional information about Kent County’s pet waste program please call 410-778-1948 or email [email protected].

8) What is a Facility Access Card (FAC) and how does it work? What are the benefits of having a Card? A FAC is a KCPR issued identification card with photo of a patron that is required to participate in programs and utilize amenities at the Kent County Community Center (KCCC). Generally, a FAC is not required for public events, exclusive use rentals or to use computers at the Kent County Public Library Worton Computer Facility (located inside the Community Center), but will require signing in at the front desk. FAC holders receive discounted room rental rates at the KCCC, discounted daily admission at the KCCC Pool and unlimited use of lobby table games, Fitness Room and open gym. Depending on the patrons age and County of residence, different fees apply. For more information about the FAC and applicable fees, click
http://www.kentparksandrec.org/communitycenter.php.
9) How do I reserve exclusive use for a park pavilion, athletic fields, swimming pool, or a room at the Community Center? For exclusive use reservations, you must submit a rental request application and security deposit to the KCPR office no less than 30 days prior to your desired date (for best availability). Once you have received notification that your date is available (2 business days), you must then submit your full rental fee payment within (7) business days to secure your date. An approved contract will be sent to you after receipt of payment. You must sign the contract and return one copy to KCPR. If the payment is not received within (7) days, your rental request will be cancelled and the deposit (if applicable) will be returned (generally within (2) weeks). Failure to cancel a reservation at least (7) days in advance of the rental date forfeits 50%
of the security deposit. For more information about private rentals and reservation applications, visit http://www.kentparksandrec.org/facilities.php.
