Oxford Bibliographies Online is a tool designed to help busy researchers find reliable sources of information in half the time by directing them to exactly the right chapter, book, website, archive or data set they need for their research. As of July 2011, OBO has 17 live modules with another 16 set to launch in 2011-12.Each subject launches with between 50-100 articles or entries, which is equivalent to a 4-volume print encyclopedia. In each subject module, leading scholars from institutions around the world have produced a literary guide to the most important and significant sources in an area of study that they know best. All entries receive multiple peer reviews and editorial board vetting to provide reliable and balanced coverage.OBO is updated regularly, with 50-75 articles added per year to each subject area. Updates will also include revisions to existing articles. My OBO allows you to create a personalized list of citations, save searches, and add annotations.

It is selective, rather than exhaustive.Oxford Bibliographies Online differs from most bibliographical resources in several ways:It provides expert recommendations with critical supportive text and annotation. The full context allows for understanding connections between citations. It includes cataloging of non-print material, especially online resources. Linking on multiple levels facilitates movement to other resources, whether online or available through a librarys catalogue.
