It was August of 2010 that we formed a focus group to decide what shall be done with

Pride 2011. We meet every week for several months. It was determined that Heartland

Pride would be created to claim and carry the torch of producing the Pride Parade

and Festival for the Omaha area starting with 2011.

Members of the Operations team have been meeting every week since January of this

year to plan this event. Starting from scratch can be a challenge for anyone, this group

hit it head on and today you can see the fruits, love and passion that they sacrificed to

bring this parade and festival to our community. Thank you to those volunteers who

    made a difference!

Two of the easiest choices this group had were coming up with this year s theme,

United in Pride and naming our Grand Marshall s The Pride Players! United in Pride

describes our approach to this year s Pride; involving more than just the GLBT

community, it is about reaching out to our friends, our family, our allies. For without their

support, love and courage there will never be a chance that equal civil rights will ever

be achieved for the GLBT community. And the Pride Players, what a wonderful

organization making a difference not only in those who have had the privilege of

seeing such love, passion and talent on stage; but for each and every youth who has

been touched by this group. They take to the stage to share more than just words oranother act ; they represent our here and now-and our future!

I am most thankful to the many supporters, advertisers and special friends of Pride who

stepped up and helped insure this event happened. In this difficult economic time,

there are still people out there who care about the success of producing an event like

this. For this, I am grateful and appreciative, thank you!

This year s pride entertainment promises to be one of the most inclusive and versatile

program in many years. We have amazing headliners, entertainers, and others who

have come to share in being United in Pride. It is my prayer and goal that everyonefinds and personifies not just pride, but United Pride during this week!

Liberty, Unity and Freedom for us all
