CIDC – Activities

Skill training under construction for enhancing employability skills among the youth in the State of Tamilnadu:

Tamilnadu Skill Development Corporation (TNDC) under its new initiative towards enhancing the employability skills among the youth in the State of Tamilnadu has joined hands with Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) to impart training to 3500 unemployed youth in construction sector in 6 districts namely Dharmapuri, Ariyalur, Thiruvannamalai, Thiruvallur, Thanjavur and Ramnad.

The duration of the program is 2 months and the training is offered in 8 trades including Mason, Bar Bending, Tiler, Plumber, Painter, Concrete Mixer Operator, Vibrator Operator, Scaffolder, Crane Operator, Tower Crane Erector & Operator, Motorized Grader Operator, Crawler, Grader Operator.

TNSDC allotted premises only in the government ITI. Besides that, we have conducted the trainings to suit the requirement of candidates near their places with easy access for the training, such as forest, hill area, local village etc. The details are furnished below:

CIDC – Activities Hall of Fame:

To celebrate the triumphs and spirit of CIDC Vishwakarma Awards, we have initiated the process for documenting the achievements of its “Alma Mater”.

We propose to publish a series of booklets under the title “Hall of Fame” which will encapsulate the achievements of winners in each category.

The last six years of the awards have showcased achievements at both the individual as well as enterprise levels. The contributions of the awardees in enriching the domain of construction practices in India needs to be showcased to a wider audience and preserved for posterity to be used by future generations.

Work on Volume – I has started and we aim to release this edition during the forthcoming 7th CIDC Vishwakarma Awards ceremony on 14th March 2015 at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Volume – I will highlight the achievements of people who have been conferred the Life Time achievement and Industry Doyen awards. Other categories shall be covered in subsequent volumes which are also under publication.

7th CIDC VKA Status:

As expected, the enthusiastic response from the Construction fraternity has kept the CIDC VKA secretariat buzzing with activity over the last two months.

Response in all categories esp. Achievement Award for Best Construction Projects & Achievement Award for Construction Health, Safety & Environment has been very encouraging.

The site visits and management interactions for relevant categories are under full swing and 10 teams comprising of evaluators is presently touring the length & breadth of the Country to shortlist companies, projects and other achievers for the 7th CIDC Vishwakarma Awards.

The competition for the artisans & supervisors was held at Vishwakarma Pratham from 11th – 13th and drew participation of applicants from across the country in various construction trades.

The process of due diligence will end by 28th Feb 2015 and the results will be declared on CIDC website by 6th March 2015.

Talent Search Competition:

Construction Industry Development Council & Vikas Institute of Engineering & Technology, Gorakhpur jointly organized ‘’Talent Search Competition” for students of classes 10th and 12th. The two levels competition viz. Junior Level and senior level have been conducted on 11th Jan 2015. The motive of the talent search was to search talented students and to convey them the future aspects in construction industry.

Students from Gorakhpur and other neighboring districts participated in the competition. A large numbers of guardians, principals and other representatives from the colleges were present.

Award Ceremony of Talent Search Competition:

An award ceremony was organized on 19th Jan 2015 to distribute the prizes to winners of talent search completion which was organized jointly by Construction Industry Development Council & Vikas Institute of Engineering & Technology on 11th Jan 2015. Dr. P.R. Swarup, Director General, CIDC was the Chief Guest and

CIDC – Activities Dr. S. Vijay Kumar, CMD, Vijay Nirman Company and Prof. A. K. Singh, MNNIT, Allahabad were the Guests of Honor. In his very informative and inspiring speech, Dr. P. R. Swarup informed the scope of construction industry for talented students and advantages of hands on training. Dr. S Vijay Kumar congratulated the successful participants and extended his blessings to all participants for their success in future. Er. Shashi Bhushan, Chairman, VIET, Col C S Rao, GM, VNC, Sh. P. K. Mishra, Addl. Director, CIDC, Sh. Sudhanshu Mishra, Executive Director, BORA Vocational Training Institute, Lucknow and other dignitaries were also present at the occasion.

In senior level, Sh. Tushar Tripathi, first prize winner got prize of Rs 21001 and a certificate. Sh. Akash Bhardwaj, second prize winner got prize of Rs 11001 and certificate. Ten consolation prizes of Rs 1001 were also given.

In junior level, Sh. Subham Kumar Chaturvedi and Sh Utkatsh Madheshiya scored the same marks and both received the prize of Rs 5501 with certificate. Sh. Rishikesh Kumar, second prize winner got prize of 5001 and certificate. Ten consolation prizes of Rs 1001 were also given.

Visit of Australian Delegates at Gorakhpur Training Center:

Australian delegates having Ms. Helen Newmen and Mr. Stodge Scot visited the training center on 16th Jan 2015. They interacted with trainers and trainees. They appreciated the concept of hands on training and placement of unemployed youth.

Saraswati Puja in Gorakhpur Center:

The festival of Basant Panchami was celebreted on 24th Jan 2015 in the campus of Gorakhpur training center. Trainees and staff organised a very special Saraswati puja on the day. All students & staff worshiped Godess Saraswati with full faith & rituals. The program started with Saraswati puja, vandana and completed with distribution of prasad.

Saraswati puja and Basant Panchami festival were organized at Gazipur center.

Celebration of Republic Day in Gorakhpur Center:

Republic Day celebration program was organized on 26th Jan, 2014 in Gorakhpur center. Shri P K Mishra, Additional Director hosted the national flag at 9.00 am. Smt. Manju Mishra, Manager, Purvanchal Academy, Gorakhpur was the guest of honor CIDC staff and trainees sung patriotic songs. Speeches of trainees created environment of dedication and sacrifice for nation. A cricket match was organized in afternoon between OIL and PFC students.

Shri P K Mishra distributed prizes to best performer and winners.

Celebration Of Republic Day in Gazipur Center:

A grand celebration program was organized to celebrate the Republic Day in Gazipur center. Dr. Sudha Tiwari, Principal, Gopinath Postgraduate College, Dewali, Salamatpur, Gazipur, Chief Guest of the program hosted the national flag. Sh Ved Prakash Tiwari, Principal, RRP Inter College, Salamatpur was the guest of honor. Sh. Mastan Kathat, Center-in-charge with CIDC staff and trainees presented cultural programs.

CIDC – Activities Construction of Toilets under CSR Scheme:

CIDC has started construction of toilets for girl students in the schools not having separate toilets for girls. Construction of toilets sponsored by The J.H. Tarapore Foundation, Chennai was formally started in Gorakhpur on 21st Nov, 2014. The inauguration of construction was done by Dr Satya Pandey, Hon’ble Mayor, Gorakhpur in Govt Primary School, Hata, Harsewakpur, Gorakhpur. 6 toilets under this scheme have been completed and now functional in Gorakhpur districts at Primary School, Hata, Purvanchal Academy, Laxmipur and VIET, Jungle Ekla.

Ongoing Projects/ Activities for News letter: January 2015

1. Ph.D, Integrated M. Tech-Ph.D, and M.Tech Programmes:

Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D, Integrated M.Tech-Ph.D, and M.Tech Programmes in Construction Technology & Management and Trenchless Engineering. Programmes are being conducted jointly with Mewar University, Chittorgarh (Rajasthan) and in association with IndSTT.

2. Bora Vocational Training Institute, Lucknow, CIDC partner institute, will be starting the Construction Project Professional Program (CPP) in association with local Engineering Colleges.

Construction Project Professional Program (CPP) is a modular programme consisting of 15 modules, duration of 45 days per module, which the candidate can pursue by completing course modules at his /her convenience. Certification will be offered as follows:

Candidates completing between one and four modules will be certified as a Construction Project Assistant (Level 1 to Level 4).

Candidates completing between five and nine modules will be certified as Construction Project Supervisor (Level 1 to Level 4).

Candidates completing between ten and fourteen modules will be certified as Construction Project Officer (Level 1 to 4).

If the candidates complete all 15 modules they will be certified as Construction Project Managers.

1. Under TNSDM training program, 3066 candidates have been trained and another 152 candidates are under training.

2. Under CIDC-OIL Program, 45 candidates (01 in the trade of General Works Supervisors, 13 candidates in the trade of Land Surveyor, 14 candidates in the trade of Plumber and 17 candidates in the trade of Electrician) are getting training at CIDC Ghaziabad training centre.

CIDC – Activities Training & Placement Activities:

Training: Oil India Limited. (Under CSR Activities):

In the second phase during the year 2014-15 we have to train 750 candidates Skill Training & Placement of young people from OIL’s operational areas under CSR scheme. In addition to Dibrugarh & Tinsukia we have been allotted the below mentioned areas of Changlang District, A.P where OIL is having its operations.

Kumchai, Diyun, Bordumsa:

Status Report: (FY-2014-15) in the second phase out of 750 candidates we have registered 220 candidates and their training have been started in Six CIDC centers are VKP Faridabad (Haryana) Odisha, Ghaziabad, Amethi (UP) and Gorakhpur (U.P.), Ranchi (Jharkhand).

The project under well in progress and our target of January, 2014 to cover up another 50-60 candidates.

In the month of February 2015 we are counselling mobilizing the balance target of candidates.

Hands on training at various CIDC training of OIL Project centres are as follows:
