ONLINE COURSE SELECTION PROCEDURE
PORT MOODY SECONDARY SCHOOL

LOGGING INTO THE COURSE SELECTION SYSTEM
- The following labs will be available for student course selection and on-line programming at PMSS: o Library
- You can also access on-line course programming from home by logging into the PMSS school website
and clicking on the On-line Course selection button
- If you are accessing from school, click on the desktop shortcut titled ONLINE COURSE SELECTION – BCESIS (example shown below)
- The next screen that appears is called PARENT ASSISTANT. This is where the students will enter their Online Course Selection username and password.
- Please reference the PORT MOODY STUDENT ASSIST spreadsheet that you have been provided for this username and password information. An example would be:
o Username – s465788 o Password – BL7820342
PLEASE NOTE: ensure that proper case is used (upper or lower)
- Once this information is entered click the LOGIN button
- The student is now logged into the system and ready to add course selections.
PLEASE NOTE: Do not allow the student to use the CHANGE button to change their password. This step is completely unnecessary and even
worse may result in them not being able to login to the system.
ADDING COURSE SELECTIONS
- Click directly on the STUDENT UPDATE > COURSES link (shown below). IGNORE the CHANGE PASSWORD area completely.
- The next screen is where the students will begin the process of ADDING COURSE selections. Begin by clicking the ADD COURSE button under the COURSE DETAILS FOR PORT MOODY SECONDARY heading:
- NOTE: If you click on the ADD COURSE button and a yellow pop up blocker notice appears (shown below):
- Then click on the yellow area and select SETTINGS > TURN OFF POP UP BLOCKER
- This will ensure that this notification does not appear any longer. Then click ADD COURSE again.
- A second tab titled ‘https://bcesis9.isw-bc.ca/sis…’ will open. CLICK on that tab.
- In the next screen place a check mark next to the courses to add. Then click the ADD CHECKED COURSES button
- A confirmation screen will appear. Click on the RETURN button
REMOVING COURSE SELECTIONS (without alternates)
- To remove a course selection (e.g. Accounting 11) click the REMOVE button attached to that course
- A second tab titled ‘esis – Delete Courses’ will open showing the confirmation of the course removal. Click on that tab to review the deleted course confirmation. Click the RETURN button when done
- The student course selections are now updated with the removal of the Accounting 11 course
ADDING A COURSE ALTERNATE - You should add 3 course alternates for those courses that you would be most willing to lose if there
was a course conflict or if we were not able to get you your first choices. - To add an alternate for a selected course (e.g. Auto Tech 12), click the ADD ALT button attached to
that course
- A second tab titled ‘esis – Add Alternate Courses…’ will open and provide the opportunity to select and alternate for the course. Select that tab.

- Click the ADD button for the course that should be added as an alternate (e.g. BA Automotive Maintenance 11).
- A confirmation screen will appear. Click the RETURN button to exit
- The course selection screen will now reflect the changes with the alternate appearing
- If everything is correct click the ALL DONE button.
- The student can now exit the system by clicking the LOG OFF button. Online course selection is complete.
REMOVING A COURSE ALTERNATE
- IF the alternate needs to be removed (e.g. BA Automotive Maintenance 11), the student must press the UPDATE ALT button to make these changes.
- A second tab titled ‘esis-Update Alternate Cou…’ will open providing the opportunity to change or remove. Click on that tab.
- Select the REMOVE ALTERNATE button at the top of the screen
- A confirmation will appear. Click RETURN to close this screen.
- If everything is correct click the ALL DONE button.
- The student can now exit the system by clicking the LOG OFF button. Online course selection is
complete.
PLEASE NOTE: IF A STUDENT WOULD LIKE TO REMOVE A COURSE SELECTION THAT HAS AN ALTERNATE ATTACHED, THE ALTERNATE MUST
BE REMOVED FIRST (USING THE PROCESS SHOWN ABOVE). THEY CANNOT REMOVE THE COURSE SELECTION WITHOUT REMOVING THE ALTERNATE
FIRST.
CHANGING A COURSE ALTERNATE
- IF the alternate needs to be CHANGED, the student must again press the UPDATE ALT button to make the change
- A second tab titled ‘esis-Update Alternate Cou…’ will open providing the opportunity to change the alternate. Click on that tab.
- Scroll to the location of the new alternate (e.g. BA Animation 12) and click the CHANGE button.
- A confirmation will appear. Click the RETURN button to exit.
- The course selection screen updates with the changed alternate
- If everything is correct click the ALL DONE button.
- The student can now exit the system by clicking the LOG OFF button. Online course selection is complete.
