I believe this nation should commit itself to the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and re- turning him safely to earth.(John F. Kennedy, May 25, 1961). This goal galvanized our nation with an incredible zeal! Yet Jesus gave us an even greater goal. Go and make disciples of all the nations…,” Matthew 28:19. But His was not to be a one time achievement. It is a challenge put before every generation of the Lords people. It required a huge team effort. There were three programs designed to meet the lunar goal; Mercury (1-man missions), Gemini (2-man missions), and Apollo (3-man missions). But there many others who were working behind the scenes. The Apollo program alone required 400,000 engineers, technicians and scientists. The cost of the Apollo program was over $24 billion (~$100 billion in todays dollars). In the same way, the mission to evangelize the world requires that everyone converted to Jesus must do their part, “…teaching them [those disciples of v. 19] to observe all I commanded you,Matthew 28:20. There were setbacks along the way. Apollo 1 began in tragedy when three astronauts died as a fire raced through the 100% oxygen atmosphere of the capsule. A terrible loss. But lessons were learned and changes were made. Jesus also knew some would die for the mission He gave to us, but the work would not stop. I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it,Matthew 16:18. The mission must continue! Now 50 years later (or 2,100 years for the Lords mission), we are still amazed at what was accomplished. Todays space program is continuing to set goals for the coming generations. The Lords goal is also still before us, still waiting for this generation of the Lords people to accomplish something that will change the eternal destiny of the people on this planet! “One small step . . . !”

This weekend we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of man landing on the moon. This was truly an in-credible achievement. There are a number of lessons we can learn from this event. It began with a challenging goal. “I believe this nation should commit itself to the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and re-turning him safely to earth.” (John F. But His was not to be a one time achievement. It is a challenge put before every generation of the Lord’s people. It required a huge team effort. A Better Life

Paul writing to the Corinthian brethren, left them with some encouraging words. These same words should help you and I live our lives closer to God. In 2 Corinthians 13:11, Paul wrote, “Finally brethren, farewell, be perfect (complete), be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace, and the God of love and peace shall be with you.” Be perfect (complete): To grow spir itual, we must correct those

things which were wrong in our lives. Reform ourselves. Strive to become more like Jesus. Strive to get rid of the “old things,” and to become new in Christ. Rest not as long as any sin abides within you. This was a practical suggestion of the way in which they might “fare well.”

Be of good comfort: Paul’s heart was tender towards them. They had caused him great discomfort, he desires their consolation. He had indeed, wounded them in administering stern but necessary rebuke - but faithful were the wounds of such a friend. New he desires that these wounds may be healed, trusting that the lancet has done its work. True comfort comes only as we strive for the true holiness. The quickest way to bring comfort to men is to seek to make them better. To comfort men in sin is devil-like; to comfort men by bringing them out of sin is God-like.

Be of one (the same) mind: Disunited, they would be miserable and weak; united, they would be happy and strong. When we are drawn nearer to Christ, we shall be drawn nearer to the brethren. If we quarrel with the members, we will soon quarrel with the Head. The church has to fight united foes; union should not be the monopoly of the servants of the devil.

Live in peace: Let peace be continuous, uninter rupted. Disunion will lead to civil war . How can Christians fight the devil if they are fighting one another? If we have peace with God, we should live in peace with His children and be at war only with Satan and sin.

Paul concludes this verse by saying “and the God of love and peace shall be with you.” God’s love is conveyed by the exhortation to “salute one another with a holy kiss.” Union and peace are not enough. There must be heartfelt affection between the people of God. This is the only true basis of union and peace. An armed truce is sometimes worse than open battle. We must not “tolerate” the brethren - we must love them. A “toleration act” is a blasphemy against Christ. It has been well said, “God’s presence produces love and peace, and we must have love and peace in order to have

His presence; God gives what He commands; God gives, but we must cherish His gifts.” Derrell Hart

There are a lot of personal supplies/items that have been left in the building from showers and

events. If you have left items in the building (especially in the teacher’s workroom and kitchen),

please take them home with you. The teachers are not able to get to supplies in the workroom

and the counters in the kitchen are cluttered. Also, if you have left sunglasses

or Bibles, they are on a table near the welcome desk and need to be picked up.

We have so many items that have been left throughout the building and the

building is used throughout the week for different activities. Thanks!

Are you interested in a little extra income? Sherry Reagan is in need of a caregiver/

sitter type work around her house. She will pay

for this service.

The new Widows/Widowers & Single’s ministry is in need of volunteers to help provide transportation to members for worship services. Located on the welcome desk are two sign up sheets. One is for members needing a ride, the other is for members that are willing to pick up a member and bring them to service. If you have any questions, please see Donnie & Linda Landrum.

10 Commandments of

Human Relations

1. Thou shalt love people, not just use

them (Matthew 22:39. The greatest

thing in the world is a person. The

greatest thing about a person are his

motives and the greatest motive is love.

2. Thou shalt develop thine understanding

(Matthew 7:12; 1 Peter 3:7). “If every

man’s care were written on his brow,

how many would our pity share, who

bear our envy now.”

3. Thou shalt compliment more than criti-

cize (1 Peter 3:10; Romans 14:19). We

should cover our neighbors faith with a

cloak of charity.

4. Thou shalt not often get angry

(Ephesians 4:26). If we are right, we

do not need to. If we are wrong, we

cannot afford to.

5. Thou shalt not argue (Ephesians 4:32).

It is no use to win the argument and

lose the relationship.

6. Thou shalt be kind (1 Corinthians 13:4).

Be kind to the people you meet on the

way up; they are the ones you meet on

the way down.

7. Thou shalt have a sense of humor

(Proverbs 17:22). A sense of humor is

to a man what springs are to a wagon.

It saves him lots of jolts.

8. Thou shalt smile (Ecclesiastes 3:4). No

man is ever fully dressed until he has a

smile on his face.

9. Thou shalt practice what thou preaches

(Romans 2:21). One example is worth

one thousand arguments.

10. Thou shalt go to school under the head-

master of the universe (John 14:6). He

is the Master of men, the Secretary of

Human Relations (Jesus Christ). He is

the greatest leader the world has ever

known.

Americans are exposed to some 4,000 advertising messages every day. This extreme number does not include the messages we also receive from

movies, book, magazines, radio/music, television, and social media. Of greater concern than the

number of messages is the content of these mes-sages. The vast majority of media messages carry

ungodly and often anti-Christian content. What can Christians do?
