Timeline
The proposition creates additional capacity on the East Coast Mainline and relieves capacity constraints at Doncaster station – a major passenger interchange.
Opportunities identified with incumbent franchise operators to serve a potential DSA station.
The loop is created with full grade separation from the East Coast Mainline.
Airline seat capacity per person
The proposition increases the airport site’s rail catchment population (90 minute journey time) by 360% from 2.4m to 8.8m people, and delivers high-speed rail access from London and Edinburgh.

There are no Government committed schemes required to enable the proposition to be implemented, and no interfacing enhancement projects.
