Getting access to care is difficult for those with physical, mental and developmental challenges. Governments everywhere are scaling back their funding in this important area of healthcare. For more than 65 years, the Center for Disability Services (CFDS) has been enabling and empowering people with disabilities to lead healthy and enriched lives. Their innovative services help so many in upstate New York and around the country. Nightingale is proud to be involved in CFDS fundraising efforts—including manning the phones at their annual telethon.

For almost four decades, supporting partner agencies has been an integral part of the important work carried out by United Way of York Region (UWYR). Together with donors and volunteers, they have been working to improve people’s lives by funding agencies and programs that meet urgent needs within York Region. Nightingale, both as a company and as individuals, supports UWYR through donations. We not only coordinate internal fundraising activities, but we also go out and help paint, fix, upgrade and clean local care organizations that are funded through UWYR.

Hacking Health improves healthcare by inviting technology creators and healthcare professionals to collaborate on realistic, human-centric solutions to front-line problems. Hacking Health’s hackathons and workshops are fun, intense, hands-on events where small teams tackle tough problems in a supportive community of peers and mentors. Nightingale has been a longtime supporter of Hacking Health events. We not only provide sponsorship dollars, but we also encourage our developers, designers, graphics artists and others to participate in the events themselves.

We believe that responsible business is good business. We feel we have an obligation to give back to the community we live in and work with. We focus our involvement and our contributions on specific issues: healthcare innovation and local access to healthcare.
