Leicester Riverside Festival takes place on Saturday 2 June from 12noon – 7pm and Sunday 3 June from 12noon – 5pm.
Bede Park and Castle Gardens are located off Leicester’s Western Boulevard just a short walk from the city centre (follow signs to De Montfort University).

On the River
Dragon Boats
On Saturday join in the fun on the river with free rides on the ever popular dragon boats. Boarding is at Castle Gardens from 12noon until 5pm.
Sunday sees the welcome return of the charity Dragon Boat racing, organised by Gable Events. A day filled with competitive and exciting races with crews raising money for the charity Bloodwise, helping to beat blood cancers. Racing begins on the river next to Castle Gardens at 10.30am.
Other weekend highlights include narrow boat trips, canoe handling with Paddleplus, floating tea shop and trade boats, plus demonstrations from the Sea Cadets and Leicester Fire Service Water Rescue Team. Plus the foot-tapping sounds of the Bill Bailey Band playing jazz along the river.
On The Park The TipiA giant tipi in the middle of the Bede Park, look out for activities and performances during the weekend including have a go workshops for all the family.
Art and CraftsLots of things to make and do for 0–4 year olds and their grown-ups; relax and play in a specially designated safe area with decorated tents.
Also for KidsChildren’s funfair, storytelling at the Bookbus, face-painting and stalls.
Beer Tent and Acoustic Music Area Featuring live acoustic sets from top local musicians across the weekend, presented by City Showcase.
The Return of Ping!Free to use table tennis tables and equipment. Challenge the local experts to a game, gain top playing tips, play for fun with friends and family.
ArtRiver
on the
Art on the River Artists, painters and photographers will be displaying and selling their work along the river railings; a fantastic opportunity to see local art in a beautiful setting along Western Boulevard.
Heritage BoatsCome and see the replica historic narrow boats with musical performances, songs and poetry telling the tales of working narrow boats and the river.
Broken Records Swing Festival A wonderful new addition to Castle Gardens - Learn how to swing dance or just sit back in the gardens, enjoy the music and tasty refreshments.
Vegan & Eco Area The Real Junk Food Project, along with other green and environmental stalls, will be offering vegan catering, musical performances and fun activities.
New for 2018 On The Boulevard Arts Street Market An opportunity to see and buy quality products from local artists and craftspeople along a river walk promenade.
World Food StallsDelicious street food from around the world all freshly prepared and of the highest quality, ideal for a tasty snack or a full feast.
Ride Leicester Cyclone Works pedal-punk bike art, Wheels for All adapted bike try-out and all things pedal powered from bike smoothies to disco bikes. Find out about British Cycling, Sustrans and bike projects across the city. Also try the free secure bike park and bike-fix if you are riding to the festival.
Castle GardensAlongside the new Broken Records Swing Festival, Castle Gardens will have something for everyone. From a petting zoo and arts and crafts for younger children to have go street arts, musical entertainment and refreshments.
