SAFE PATIENT HANDLING AND REPOSITIONING IS EVERYONE’S BUSINESS.Caregivers continue to suffer some of the highest rates of musculoskeletal injuries from overexertion, resulting in missed work days, decreased retention and billions of dollars in direct and indirect costs.1,3,8

Studies show that patient repositioning using a low-friction glide sheet may help reduce the risk of musculoskeletal strain and injuries to caregivers.9

Safe patient handling is equally important to patients. Bed-ridden patients are at risk for pressure ulcers, which can develop in as little as one hour.6 Frequent repositioning, using transfer aids to reduce friction and shear, is recommended to help prevent the development of pressure ulcers.10

We Understand Your Challenges.Comfort Glide repositioning products give your caregivers what they need for

easy and efficient patient repositioning. Unlike traditional draw sheets and pillows, these products work together to ease the stress of turning on both staff and patients.

WVTR Test for Breathability

Water Vapor Transmission Rate (WVTR in units g/(m2*day)) measures the amount of water vapor that passes through a material. The higher the number, the more breath-able the material. The Comfort Glide sheet performed as well as the leading competitor.12

Average Force Required to Initiate Slide

This graph shows the force required to initiatethe slide a 200-pound object across a hospital bed.11 The lower the number, the easier it is for healthcare workers to initiate sliding a patient.

PROBLEM

Comfort Glide Repositioning Sheet » Low-friction nylon

backsheet uses less exertion than draw sheet11

» Multiple handles and large size promote proper ergonomics and leverage

» Compatible with low air-loss mattresses12

Comfort Glide Fitted Sheet » Slick, breathable polyester

material helps reduce effort needed to slide patient12

» Compatible with low air-loss mattresses12

Comfort Glide Wedges » Holds patient in 30-degree

tilt position to help reduce pressure on vulnerable areas

» Non-slip bottom grips surface of any mattress or linen

» High-density foam doesn’t flatten out

Comfort Glide Drypad » Ultra-absorbent polymers

draw in and lock moisture away from skin13

» Air-permeable for patient comfort12

» Compatible with low air-loss mattresses12

Pillows » Difficult to maintain

recommended 30-degree angle10

» Flatten out over time, providing inadequate offloading

Draw Sheet » Requires more effort,

putting staff at risk for injury9

» Bunching the sheet provides inadequate leverage

» Sheet size allows only one caregiver on each side of patient

Comfort Glide Repositioning Sheets These sheets are designed and tested to help reduce the exertion needed to turn patients. » Low-friction nylon bottom surface is shown to require

35 percent less effort than a standard draw sheet to initiate and maintain sliding.11

» Multiple handles along the perimeter help optimize weight distribution and leverage.

» Air-permeable, materials allow sheet to remain under patients and always available to aid repositioning.12

» Soft, breathable microfiber covers the entire top surface for patient comfort and is compatible with low air-loss mattresses.12

» Optional retention straps anchor the sheet to the bed, helping keep the patient in the desired position.

» Safety rated for patients up to 575 pounds. X-large bariatric sheet is safety rated for up to 1,000 pounds.16

Comfort Glide Fitted SheetsThese fitted sheets feature a low-friction,11 breathable12 polyester fabric that helps reduce the effort to slide a patient. » Contoured elastic perimeter hugs the mattress

for a close fit without awkward buckles. » Compatible with low air-loss mattresses.12

» Can be laundered up to 50 times.14

» Available in four different sizes to fit a wide range of mattresses.

Comfort Glide WedgesThese high-density foam wedges help keep patients in the 30-degree tilt position recommended by NPUAP10, helping to reduce pressure on bony prominences. » Non-slip base grips the surface of any mattress or linen. » “Down” arrows ensure proper placement. » Soft, composite fabric covering can be wiped clean.

Comfort Glide DrypadThese ultra-absorbent drypads are designed to manage moisture over an extended period of time and keep patients 26 times drier than the leading competitor.13

» Draws in moisture, locks it away from skin and feels dry to the touch within minutes.13

» Air-permeable for optimal patient comfort and zero strikethrough.12,13

» Compatible with low air-loss mattresses.12

» Both standard (36” x 57”) and XL size (40” x 80”) available; each size designed to completely cover the repositioning sheets.

Drypad PerformanceA drypad’s ability to withstand multiple incontinence episodes is determined using the “rewet” test. The test is done by pouring 100 milliliters of water onto a drypad, waiting 60 seconds and then measuring how much water returns to the surface. The lower the number, the drier against patient skin.13
