Welcome to One Ashford HospitalOne Ashford Hospital, part of the One Healthcare Group is located in Ashford, opposite the William Harvey Hospital.

Our dedicated multidisciplinary teams aim to provide the best possible care for your patients, from their initial consultation through to their ongoing recovery. Our hospital has been purpose-built with the patient in mind, providing excellent, dignified care in a calm environment. It also benefits from free onsite parking for all patients, along with easy access from the M20 (Junction 10 or 10A) depending on the direction of travel.

We treat patients in an outpatient setting, as a day case and as inpatients. We work in conjunction with the NHS to treat a large number of patients, helping to reduce waiting times. We are recognised by all the major insurance companies, providing fast access to treatment for those who are covered by their policy, and we also have a number of patients who choose to pay for their treatment with us.

Supporting our NHS Colleagues during COVID-19Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been proud to support our NHS colleagues by providing additional capacity to treat patients awaiting urgent surgery and requiring diagnostic investigations. Since March, we have treated over 6,500 patients in Theatres, Outpatients, Imaging and Physiotherapy. We are continuing our support during 2021 to assist in lowering waiting times for those in need of treatment.

From the beginning of the pandemic, One Ashford implemented strict measures to ensure the hospital remained COVID secure. These have included:

Cleanliness We have increased our cleaning routines and removed some ‘high touch point’ equipment such as leaflet holders and water dispensers.

Social Distancing We have added new signage, indicating where to sit, stand or walk while social distancing from others, as well as screens to provide a safety barrier between patients and colleagues.

COVID-19 Testing For surgical patients, our COVID-19 testing takes place in line with the latest government guidelines. Our teams will contact your patient to book a time to have their test. We have a strict process for admissions at the hospital too. We closely follow NHSE guidelines for preparation for surgery and that includes having a COVID test 72 hours prior to coming in, of which they are required to continue to self-isolate up until their admission. They will be given comprehensive guidance on how and when to isolate once their surgery is booked.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)To help ensure the hospital remains COVID secure, patients are required to wear a face covering when visiting us. Staff and Consultants are required to use the correct PPE according to government guidelines.

Those Requiring Assistance If a patient relies on assistance in order to move safely, one person may accompany them to the hospital. Our friendly colleagues will be on hand to help them from Reception onwards.

Self-Pay Referrals to One Ashford HospitalThere are times when you may want to discuss self-pay options with your patients, particularly if they wish to been seen as soon as possible, when they want to see a particular Consultant, or when they do not meet the criteria for NHS treatment.

Self-pay options are available for all services at One Ashford Hospital. Our prices are competitive, with a number of our procedures offered as a fixed-price package, so your patients can be assured that is the price they will pay with no hidden extras. Patients can choose to spread the cost of their care with our finance options (T&Cs apply).

Patients paying for their own treatment can choose to self-refer to One Ashford Hospital by calling our Self-Pay team directly on 01233 423 241 to book an initial consultation with a Consultant of their choice. A GP referral letter may be required to ensure the correct pathway of care is undertaken, and patients will be referred back to their GP at the end of their treatment.

Insured Referrals to One Ashford HospitalWe accept all major insurers and patients can use their insurance for the majority of services and treatments we offer. The process is very easy.

•The patient visits their GP to discuss their symptoms and inform you they have private health insurance.

•The patient is referred to see a specialist at One Ashford Hospital to identify the treatment they require.

•They will be required to contact their insurance company once they have seen their GP to discuss the referral and obtain an authorisation code (this will need to be provided for each appointment).

Patients can request to be seen at One Ashford Hospital, or they can contact the hospital directly to book an appointment.

A GP referal letter is usually required to ensure the correct pathway of care is undertaken. Patients will be referred back to their GP at the end of their treatment.

Orthopaedics (continued)Our Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons are experts in their chosen field of Orthopaedics, with extensive experience in both the NHS and private practice. In addition to their specialist clinical expertise, our Consultants have extensive experience in related disciplines such as Rheumatology, Trauma and Sports Medicine, so you can be sure that your patient’s treatment and care will be to an exceptional standard.

Patients can usually be seen by an Orthopaedic Surgeon within 48 hours for an initial consultation, after which a tailored treatment plan will be devised, which may involve attending a number of physiotherapy sessions. If surgery is required, your patient will receive first class surgical care in one of our modern operating theatres. We also offer the option of some procedures being carried out in our minor operating suite in Outpatients, which then requires no hospital stay.

General Surgery at One Ashford HospitalHere at One Ashford Hospital, we undertake a large number of general surgery procedures, with hernia and gallbladder removals being the most common.

Our Consultant General Surgeons provide many elective surgeries, many of which can be carried out in a day patient setting, without the need for an overnight stay in hospital. For more complex surgical procedures, admission to the hospital for an overnight stay is necessary.

Some procedures do require an extended period of recovery in hospital to ensure the optimal recovery for your patient. Our medical team provide a high standard of patient care, tailored to meet their individual needs.

Physiotherapy at One Ashford HospitalThe One Ashford Hospital Physiotherapy team consists of chartered Physiotherapists and Hand Therapists with over 90 years’ combined experience. The team specialise in a variety of conditions including sports injuries, musculoskeletal complaints, hand therapy and female continence issues. They also offer gait scanning.
