ON24 WEBCASTING SOLUTIONS
ON24 Webcasting is a very cost-effective approach to deliver events to hundreds or
thousands of simultaneous users. With the ON24 hosted solutions, organizations can
integrate audio, video, slide presentations, polling, and Q&A into a single webcast
event. The ON24 technology will then distribute the webcast over the Internet,
allowing virtual attendees around the world to view the event in real-time.
ON24’s government webcasting solutions (GSA Contract #GS-35F-0564R) make it
possible for federal and state organizations to deliver information in a secure and
timely manner. ON24 allows a virtual audience to attend and participate in
government presentations, conferences, town halls, training seminars, etc. And
since ON24 Webcasting is broadcast technology, these events can be delivered at a
fraction of the cost of traditional communications. ON24’s webcasting solutions are
described in more detail in the following sections.
Audio/Video Streaming
ON24 Audio/Video Streaming allows organizations to extend the reach of their
conferences, seminars, and events as well as quickly disseminate breaking news.
ON24’s solution simply captures the audio and video from the event (via its signal
acquisition infrastructure), encodes it, and delivers it via Content Delivery Networks
as a data stream over the Internet. Using simply a web browser and a media player
such as Windows Media Player or Real Player, virtual attendees can view the event in
real-time. After the event completes, ON24 archives the audio/video stream and
places it on ON24’s hosting servers. This allows people – who were not able to see
the live event – to view it on-demand.
ON24 provides scalable streaming of events to either a domestic or international
audience. Many webcasting providers only use in-house servers to host content.
ON24’s global clients require a more scalable and higher-quality approach. As such,
ON24 has established a strategic content delivery network (CDN) partnership with
Globix to offer its clients industry-leading content delivery for their events.
Live & On-Demand Webcasting with Synchronized Presentations
Webcasting is a highly cost-effective way to broadly deliver public hearings, press
conferences, regulatory compliance meetings, public employee training, town hall
meetings, agency briefings, and more. ON24 Webcasting allows event managers to
integrate audio, video, and synchronized slides into a single presentation and deliver
it via streaming media over the Internet. In addition, interactive features like Q&A,
chat, polling, and surveys can be incorporated into the webcast.
Other ON24 Webcasting features include:
− Event Manager application to schedule and configure webcast events
− Presentation Manager “dashboard” to control the slide delivery and interactive
features (e.g., Q&A, text chat, etc.)
− Audience Interface which can be customized and branded
− Global branded event registration and lobby
− Real-time reporting to track viewers and measure the event success
− Third-party billing to collect and manage event fees
− Flexible global access to support worldwide events

− CD duplication and event webcast archival
− Multilingual support for both single- and double-byte languages
− Transcription services, either integrated into the Audience Interface or
available as a separate downloadable file
ON24’s webcasting features also address the unique requirements associated with
the production and delivery of public sector program material. ON24 Webcasting is
fully compliant with Section 508. That is, Section 508 compatible captioned text can
be (and has been) incorporated into the ON24 webcast presentations.
On-Demand Audio Webcasting with Microsites
Simple Audio is a recent addition to the ON24 webcasting family. With Simple
Audio, individuals can create their own on-demand webcasts by integrating audio
with Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. The solution is extremely easy to use – all
users need is PowerPoint, an Internet browser, and a telephone. Most people are
able to use the Simple Audio solution without training.
In addition to audio streaming and synchronized slides, Simple Audio includes a host
of interactive features, such as:
− Step-by-step interface makes creating webcasts
− Integrated registration system
− Real-time reporting tools
− Polling and Q&A capabilities
− Branded templates
For organizations that create a number of Simple Audio-based presentations, ON24
provides “Microsites” to organize and manage the webcasts. Microsites are ON24
hosted websites that store the Simple Audio webcasts in hierarchical, searchable
directories. The organization of the webcasts can be by topic, department, series, or
other means (defined by ON24’s customer). In addition, meta-data can be
associated with the webcasts, allowing the audience to use keywords to search for
specific Simple Audio presentations. Microsites also provide a single area for ON24
clients to directly access and edit the webcast presentations.
The Simple Audio solution (with ON24 Microsites) is commonly used for product
announcements, sales activities, employee & reseller training, company briefings,
and various types of corporate communications.
Webcasts for Continuing Professional Education
ON24 understands that the Federal Government is a strong proponent of continuing
professional education (CPE). The Gov Online Learning Center and Federal
Competency Management Center have been established to provide government
employees with tools to develop, track, and manage their skills and knowledge.
Government agencies are also encouraged to use new learning technology tools in
their efforts to develop a world-class workforce for public service.
