TRUST IN JESUS

Today’s feast celebrates another central mystery of our faith—the mystery of the Eucharist. Like the mystery of the Trinity, the real presence of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist can never be fully understood, but can only be believed. Just as the Israelites in the desert were invited to put their trust in God’s word to them, we are in-vited to trust wholly in the word of Jesus. In to-day’s Gospel Jesus promises to give us a share in his very own flesh and blood, and a share in eternal life besides. We are called to take him at his word and open our hearts to receive true nourishment and life from our participation in the Eucharist. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

OUR WEEKLY OFFERING

Monday, June 19-Saturday June 24—San Antonio Mission Trip

Sunday, July 9—General Meeting 6-7:30 PM (Vosbein Hall) Wednesday, July 12—Day Trip to Ship Island Sunday, July 16—General Meeting 6-7:30 PM (Vosbein Hall) For more information, visit the website or contact Claire Gallagher at the Parish Center, 887-7821 or by email: [email protected].

Seeking a Youth Minister for SCR St. Clement of Rome parish is seeking a full time Youth Minister. This position has flexible hours, but requires availability on most Sunday evenings and involves the facilitation of CYO, high school catechesis, and Confirmation prep. Candidates should have strong interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to be flexible and work well with others. Basic technology skills and a comfort with social media are required. A bachelor’s degree, preferably in theology and/or education, is preferred, as well as some professional or volunteer experience in youth ministry or education. Interested candidates should send their résumé to St. Clement of Rome Parish, Attn: Fr. Luis Rodriguez, 4317 Richland Ave, Metairie, LA 70002, or [email protected].

SIXTH ANNUAL PRAYER VIGIL

On Friday, June 23, there will be no 8:15 AM Mass. A special Mass will be celebrated at 6:00 PM for the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This Mass will conclude with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Adoration through the night until the next morning, June 24. The Vigil will conclude on Saturday with Benediction at 8:00 AM.

We invite all parishioners to consider signing up after Masses for one hour of adoration. We are offering this Prayer Vigil for the following intentions: For the conversion of the United States of America. For an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life and for abundant blessings upon the newly ordained priests of our Archdiocese: Fathers José Cáceres, Colm Cahill, Alex Guzmán, Pedro Prada & Jared Rodrigue. For the conversion of those who commit acts of hatred and terror and for their victims. At Mass on Saturday morning (8:15am) we would usually celebrate the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. But since this year the Saturday falls on June 24, the celebration of the Solemnity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist takes precedence over the memorial. Please join us in prayer for these three inten-tions as we ask to be brought closer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the intercession of St. John the Baptist.

JULY 1, 2017 On December 10, 1925, Our Lady of Fatima asked that the faithful dedicate the first Saturdays of five consecutive months in reparation for sin by going to confession, receiving Holy Communion, praying five decades of the Holy Rosary, and meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary for at least 15 minutes. This has become known as the First Saturday Devotions. Since the Church recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, we will begin celebrating these devotions on the first Saturday of each month beginning on Saturday, July 1, by offering our regularly scheduled morning Rosary and Mass in atonement for sin and for the conversion of the United States. We invite you to join us for these First Saturday devotions.

—Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J.
