Our April rally at Elite RV was a great time at a really nice loca-

tion. While the kitchen facilities left a lot to be desired, we were

able to improvise so that the meals could be prepared and I

think everything was edible. All who attended seemed to be

having a good time and enjoying their time together.

After the rally ended Sue and I along with Chuck and JoAnn moved our rigs to the back row for a few days

and spent a few days at the parks in Disney before moving further south to the small town of Frostproof, FL

where we stayed at a Sun Resorts facility called Rainbow RV. It is a nice facility and very large, their goal is to

sell the lots for permanent use and to get away from overnight or short term stays.

Then on Tuesday we moved another 90 minutes south west to the Good Sams of Florida Spring Rally at the

family owned and started in 1989 in Cler-

mont, Florida. It is on a 127-acre estate in an area

which was once the “center of the

State’s grape industry”. Lakeridge

is Florida’s largest premium winery.

It specialty is premium and spar-

kling wines from the Muscadine

grape.

Once there

we were giv-

en a tour of

the winery

which included a brief video

and walking through where the

wines are fermented and bot-

tled. We then gathered for a

wine tasting, where we were

served samples from sparkling

wines, and

wines from

dry to sweet. Most participated

in the tastings and we finished

up with shot of a wine slushies.

After the tastings, several

members purchased

wines and other goodies.

For dinner, we gathered

to enjoy hamburgers and

hot dogs, along fixings,

beans, salads and dessert.

After dinner, several members

participated in games at the

club house of Left Right Center

(LRC). Winners for the night were JoAnn Miner and

Paul Comini.

O n Wednesday, we gathered for a wonderful break-

fast of French toast, sausage, fruit and juice. We

then attended our chapter

meeting.

After the meeting we had

our traditional Bean Bag

Baseball game, with the la-

dy’s vs the gentlemen. It

was an even game, with the

ladies pulling ahead for a short while, with a home run

by Sherry Chynoweth, Coleen Fowler and Debbie

Cerreto (also got a double).

EJ Comini got 2 doubles and

Sue Neblock got a single,

double and a triple. EJ and

Sue also scored a run a piece.

Also getting on base was Jody

Dietz. This left the women with a tie score against

the men in the final inning of six to six.

For the men, there were

three home runs hit, two

by Dave Drenning and

one by John Whitney.

John also had a triple and

a double which resulted in

him scoring an additional

run. Bert Chynoweth had two triples and two runs.

Ted Dietz and John Whitney had RBI’s. In the ninth

inning, with considerable heckling by the ladies, John

got his double and Alan Ritcey hit a triple resulting in

the winning run coming in for the men to win the

game with a score of seven to

six.

In the evening, members had

dinner at Manny’s chop house,

whose specialties are steaks

and fast food, including all you can

eat salad served at the table. Also

included were

fresh baked

rolls with deli-

cious cinnamon butter. The res-

taurant is decorated with tons of

memorabilia

including stat-

ues of the

Blues Brothers,

old cars and

signs, etc.

We gathered in groups of four to six for the evening,

and really enjoyed the evening.

After dinner, and desert, the

group said our goodbyes and

headed back to the campground

where some

everyone there and at the May Rally in

Cedar Key. If you are not attending either of these last

events of the season, we wish you safe travels for the sum-

mer and look forward to seeing you in the fall.

Also a big thanks to our hosts: Chuck & JoAnn and Rick

and Sue, for making our rally a success. We all enjoyed the

activities, fellowship and food very much.

April Meeting Minutes—April 11, 2018 Members present (23): Pat & Debbie Cerreto, Bert & Sherry Chenoweth, Paul & EJ Comini, Ted & Jody Dietz, Dave &

Linda Drenning, Denis & Coleen Fowler, Chuck Mentzel & JoAnn Miner, Rick & Sue Neblock, Alan & Sandy Ritcey,

Gary Shartzer, Chuck & Susi Vroman, John & Pat Whitney.

Call to Order: The April meeting was called to order by President Rick Neblock at 9:32 am. The invocation was led by Pat Whitney, and the Pledge of Allegiance and Good Sams’s Pledge was led by Rick Neblock. Guests: T here were no guests at this rally.

Secretary Report: The January meeting minutes were presented in the January newsletter and the February special

meeting minutes were presented in the February newsletter. There were questions regarding the February newsletter

by Bert Chynoweth and John Whitney. President Rick Neblock addressed questions asked and explained the purpose

of the special meeting, which was to finalize the efforts to get our club a non-profit status. Secretary Linda Drenning

asked if there were any additions or changes, and that these minutes be accepted. The motion to accept the minutes

was made by Joan Miner, and President Rick Neblock so noted and accepted the minutes.

Treasurer Report: Treasurer Debbie Cerreto has collected membership fees and noted that there were no funds col-

lected in February and no meeting in March. The April treasurer report will be sent out to members when finalized in

April. Debbie also discussed that the club received our not for profit status – as a social organization status C-7. The

last step in this process is that the club needs to file paperwork with the state agriculture department. This is a require-

ment of all non-profit organizations. Motion to accept was made by Sandi Ritcey, which was 2nd

by JoAnn Miner.

Wagon Master Report: Chuck Mentzel noted that for the May rally the hosts were the Drenning’s and Robbins/

Olenych, which is in Cedar Key. He asked for a show of hands on who would be attending the event, and the initial

count is for around 20 members. He went over the schedule for next year and that there were still several openings for

hosts. He would like to have all hosts assigned to schedule by the end of May. It was discussed currently is no venue

for the Winter State rally, due to the cancellation of the site in Tallahassee. Chuck is working on a tentative opening in

Leesburg for a rally for the club. During the meeting some members volunteered: October – Cerreto, February –

Ritcey & Whitney, January – Vroman’s & Fowlers if Leesburg is scheduled. This leaves hosting opportunities in Sep-

tember, November, December, March, April, and May 2019.

Rick Neblock reminded us of before he joined this chapter, a vote was made that we would support all of the State

Rally’s, including Okeechobee, Tallahassee and Eustis. A second vote was made by members that if the club was not

going to support all state rallies, we would support the fall Eustis Rally. This would also be an official club rally, and this

the only one that is a requirement. Because we have difficulty getting places in the winter. He discussed that as a club,

we should try to support both our rally’s and state rally’s. It is a requirement that our president does attend all state

rally’s. He also mentioned that the State is looking for a new venue for the Winter Rally and is committed to seeing how

they can improve these events.

Historian Report: Jody Dietz stated that there was nothing to report.

Rick Neblock informed the club that the club received its 45-year certificate and recognition at the and received our cer-

tificate for the 45 years of membership at the state rally in Tallahassee.

Sunshine Report: There was a reminder that if you know of someone who is ill, make sure you contact Jody so that

she can forward on communications to everyone. You can reach her by phone anytime.

Old Business: Change of banks - Treasurer Debbie Cerreto informed the club that we have changed banks to BB & T, and that we do

not need a minimum balance and there are no fees. Not for profit status - As previously stated in the Treasurers report on the club obtaining its no for profit status, John

Whitney asked if we can have donations pass straight through to our charities. Debbie said she would check into this.

Charity Baskets - JoAnn Miner discussed the Eustis Rally - and that we still need items for the baskets and would like to have these donations by the end of May. We will be assembling the baskets in September. She also discussed the items we have for the yard sale for the Okeechobee Rally. Debbie sent out the letter for nonprofit that you can give to vendors to solicit donations.

New Business: Rick Neblock furthered discussed the decision of the state to no longer have the Winter State rally in Tallahassee. He stated that their attendance has declined year after year. During the President’s meeting at the winter 2018 Rally, there was going to be a vote to extend the contract for another two years. Because of this, there are less fees collected to fund the rally, including the entertainment venue. Rick spoke out and explained that they needed to figure out why attendance is declining. He asked that members make suggestions on where a
