A husband and wife were having problems and decided to end their union after a very short time together. After a brief attempt to reconcile, the couple went to court to finalise their break-up. The judge asked the husband, “What brought you to this point, where you’re unable to keep this marriage together?” The husband replied, “In the six weeks we’ve been to-gether, we haven’t been able to agree on a single thing.” “Seven weeks,” the wife said. Thank you Modbury Lions

MORE FROM THE DG HANDOVER AT GUMERACHA
How it all began
On the 1st July 2015 after a 1hour chat on the phone complete with a bottle of Red, Don Pritchard convinced me that I should stand for VDG Elect at the 2015 Convention.
Since then he has been my Mentor, and a huge shoulder when needed.
You couldn’t find a better friend anywhere in times of need, particularly when Michelle died. I was a mess and both Don and Gill were there to prop me up and put me back together again.
When I found a new love in my life they both welcomed her with open arms.
Don has been there this past year and he has it done before I think about it, particu-larly giving advise and guidance
It’s probably the one big thing missing to-night apart from Mum in particular, and that is Don and Gill.
If I say any more the tears will flow like they were when we nearly lost him recently.
So I say to you Don thankyou so much for being who you are, my close friend and Mentor in Lions.
I’d like to thank all who have assisted me this past year as DG and hope that you give DG Kevin the assistance that he will need.
Thanks again and see you all again really soon

NEWS FROM MODBURY CLUB
Royal District Nursing Service South Australia is a not-for-profit community health and care provider. RDNS has a strong network of in-home health and aged care specialists across Adelaide and South Aus-tralia. While known as RDNS in South Australia, it is called Silver Chain throughout the rest of Australia. Some interesting ‘google’ history: RDNS, initially the District Trained Nursing Society (D.T.N.S.), was inau-gurated on 12 July 1894 following 12 months work by a trained nurse in the Adelaide suburb of Bowden. This experiment, which was financed by the philan-thropic Barr Smith and Elder families, had convinced founders, Dr. Allan Campbell, M.L.C., Rev. B.C. Ste-phenson and Nightingale nurse Matron Edith Noble, of the local demand for a district nursing service. Meanwhile, the financial viability of such a venture was being demonstrated by the Pirie Street Nursing Sisters' Association, which was organised by the in-ner-city Pirie Street Wesleyan Methodist Church but supported by public donations. Founder Rev. Joseph Berry was on the inaugural committee of the D.T.N.S., although his Association remained inde-pendent until 1898. In 1937, the D.T.N.S. was renamed the District and Bush Nursing Society of S.A. Inc.; in 1965 the 'Royal' prefix was granted and in 1973 'Bush' was removed from the title. In September 2011, RDNS merged with the Silver Chain Nursing Association of Western Australia. Due to the strong history of RDNS within South Australia, the RDNS name and branding continues to be used here.

The Port Lincoln Lions Club has secured $5000 to remove an unstable shelter and continue upgrades at the Lions Park.
The Club received $10,628 in grant funding from the Port Lincoln Bendigo Bank last year to install a new shelter and picnic setting, but required further funding to continue upgrades.
The Lower Eyre Peninsula District Council’s director of works said the $5000 from the council could relocate irri-gation and water pipes, add to the concrete area, remove the old shelter and dying pine tree.
“They would like to increase the area of thr concrete slab to allow for visitors to set up their own portable barbe-ques….and avoid damage to the grassed areas” he said.
“The original Lions shelter has been assessed numerous times and it is at resk of collapsing in high winds due to rusred supports”
“The piping relocation in combination with removal of the old shelter and dying pine tree are estimated to cost $2300 .
“The balance of the funds ($2700) could be used for the added area of concrete” Mr Douglas said
It can be added that the Club has also budgeted $2,200 to the project and that Outgoing President Iain is just so proud of the Club in completing the project.

WE SERVE — MORE THAN SAUSAGES
MAWSON LAKES “BLANKET SALISBURY WITH LOVE”
On Saturday 20th of July the Blanket Salisbury with Love Event returned to the Mawson Centre in Mawson Lakes.
The event was an opportunity to share some winter warmth and help the local Salisbury community.
On the day we collected thousands of donations of new or near new blankets, clothes, sanitary products and non-perishables foods from local residents, knitting groups and businesses. They are now being distributed by Anglicare to those in Salisbury in need, and then any overflow continues to help surrounding communities across all of South Austral-ia.
We also did a fundraising BBQ on the day raising and sold our famous Lions cakes too.
It was our most successful Blanket Salisbury event yet and we look forward to an even bigger one in July 2020. We will be running a Christmas Appeal with Anglicare aimed at non-perishable foods and children’s toys - it will be run incon-junction with the Mawson Centre Christmas Markets.

PUPPY SPONSORSHIP. Due to an increase in applications and dog numbers from rescue and shelters reducing, we commenced a Puppy Program in 2018. The young pups are placed with Foster Carers around Adelaide for six months whilst they grow and learn to be a normal dog. During this Indi. early stage, they wear a pale blue Australian Lions Hearing Dogs Foster Puppy jacket, then when training is completed, they become an accredited Australian Lions Hearing Dog, and graduate to the well known Orange jacket for the rest of their working life. As with all our dogs, our new puppies are all shapes and sizes to meet the varied needs of our recipients. Not everyone wants a small dog and likewise not everyone wants nor has the room for a large dog. Also there are many people who would love to foster one of our puppies in their homes, but unfortunately Foster Carers are limited to the suburbs around Adelaide due to the close proximity to our Hearing Dog Training Nala. Centre located at Verdun near Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills. Our Puppy Program Co-ordinator, frequently assesses the puppies progress, and decides when pups should return to the Centre and begin training. Foster Carers are able to visit the Training Centre frequently and see how well their little charges are progressing through the program.
Would you like to sponsor a Puppy? Although puppy Foster Carers are restricted to the Adelaide region, Lions & Lions Clubs that support a puppy in Foster Care, are given naming rights for the dogs, and receive monthly updates on their progress while in Foster care and training.
Sponsorship cost of an Australian Lions Hearing Dogs Puppy is:-
$3000 for Club / Corporate Sponsorship & PID Tony Benbow presented Club Pres. of $1500 for individual sponsorship. Sth.Vermont LC in Vic. with the first puppy

You are on a horse, galloping at a constant speed. On your right side is a sharp drop off, and on your left side is an elephant traveling at the same speed as you. Directly in front of you is another galloping horse but your horse is unable to overtake it. Behind you is a lion running at the same speed as you and the horse in front of you. How can you get out of this highly dangerous situation? Get off the merry-go-round!
Husband to wife ‘Today is a fine day’. Next day he says: ‘Today is a fine day’. Next day, he says same thing. Finally, after a week, the wife can’t take it and asks her husband ‘Every day you are saying today is a fine day. I am fed up. What’s the matter?’
Husband: ‘Last week when we had an argument, you said, “I will leave you one fine day.” I was just trying to remind you…’
A bookseller conducting a market survey asked a woman – “Which book has helped you most in your life?” The woman replied “My husband’s cheque book”
Yesterday had the pleasure of installing 2 Presidents for the new Lions Year.Rosemary Gale as President of Norwood and Paddy Mckay as President of Lions Against Violence Club Branch. Very relaxing lunch and good company. DG Kevin Masters inducted a new member, his 8th that day!
