On the eve of his twentieth anniversary as school principal,Seymour Skinneris lured byhis mothertoSpringfield Elementary Schoolfor a surprise party. The celebration goes well until a strange man arrives, claiming to be the real Seymour Skinner. Principal Skinner soon admits that he is an impostor, and that his real name is Armin Tamzarian. Armin then tells the story of the events that led him to steal Seymour Skinner's identity.Armin was once a troubled young man. He stole an old woman's purse and, while making his getaway on his motorcycle, hit a pedestrian who happened to be a judge. As punishment, Armin had to join the Army and fight in theVietnam War, go to jail, or apologize to the judge and the old woman. Skinner decided to join the army, not knowing the country was in a middle of war. There he met and befriended the real Sergeant Seymour Skinner, who became his mentor and helped him find meaning in his troubled life. Seymour told Armin that his dream was to become an elementary school principal after the war. Later, Seymour was declared missing and presumed dead after he was caught in an explosion. Armin took the news of the apparent death to Seymour's mother, Agnes. Upon meeting him, however, Agnes mistook him for her son, and Armin could not bear to deliver the message. He instead allowed Agnes to call him Seymour, and took over Seymour's life. Meanwhile, the real Seymour Skinner spent five years in aPOWcamp, then worked in a Chinesesweatshopfor two decades until it was shut down by theUnited Nations.After these revelations, the people of Springfield begin to distrust Armin. Armin decides that there is no longer any place for him in Springfield, and retires from his job. The real Skinner is then offered the chance to realize his dream and take over as school principal. He takes the job, but the real Skinner finds himself isolated by the townspeople after rudely berating Bart for insulting thePledge of Allegiance. It turns out the people realize that they prefer Armin over him. Even Agnes Skinner misses Armin, since she had lived with him for 26 years, and does not believe her actual son still needs her. Armin, however, has already left Springfield and gone toCapital City.Margeheads to Capital City withEdna Krabappel, Agnes and the rest of the Simpson family, and Jasper. Armin refuses to return home, stating they have the real Skinner. However, Agnes refuses to acknowledge it, stating that she depended on Armin and her real son was rude to her. After Agnes orders Armin to return home,HomerpersuadesMayor Quimbyand all the other citizens to allow Armin to resume his assumed identity as Principal Skinner. The real Skinner is unhappy about this, and refuses to give up his job and his dignity just because the people of Springfield prefer Armin to him. In response, the townspeople banish the real Skinner from town by tying him to a chair on aflatcarof afreighttrain.Judge Snyderdeclares that Armin will again be referred to as Seymour Skinner, that he will return to his job as school principal, and that no one shall mention the name "Armin Tamzarian" again, under penalty oftorture.

Despus de casi atropellar a un juez, como castigo, eligi servir al ejrcito de los Estados Unidos como soldado, justo en tiempos de laguerra de Vietnam. All conoci a un compaero de armas con el que desarroll una amistad, el sargento Seymour Skinner (nacido en Springfield), considerndolo como el hermano que nunca tuvo y fortaleciendo su optimismo. Pero durante la guerra el sargento Skinner haba desaparecido en combate para tristeza de Tanzarian y, al finalizar sta, se dirige a Springfield a comunicar a la madre de Skinner sobre su fallecimiento. Al verla, sin embargo, Tanzarian decide no contarle la verdad para evitar su sufrimiento pues era una mujer solitaria y se hace pasar por Skinner, logrando engaarla y cumpliendo el sueo de su supuestamente difunto sargento por los ltimos 20 aos: ser director de escuela.Todo esto provoc el rechazo y repudio total de Agnes Skinner, al sentirse engaada por un impostor y por un hijo extrao y ausente. Luego de aclarado el hecho, Tanzarian abandona el puesto de director del colegio, y quien lo ocupa es el legtimo Skinner. Tanzarian, al verse rechazado por los ciudadanos del pueblo, decide despedirse de Agnes y de su novia, la maestra Krabappel, para irse deSpringfielden su antigua motocicleta y volver a su vida de pandillero en Ciudad Capitolio (Capitol City).Poco tiempo despus, el sargento Skinner es cuestionado por algunes actitudes en la escuela y hacia su madre, quien lo ve como un desobediente; esto lleva a queAgnes Skinner, la maestraEdna KrabappelyMarge Simpson(con su familia y el abuelo incluidos) deciden ir a buscar a Tanzarian para que volviese.Pese a la negativa inicial a volver por parte de Tanzarian, Agnes Skinner consigue convencerlo y vuelve a Springfield a reclamar su lugar como director, apoyado por la mayora de los ciudadanos y el alcalde. Sin embargo, el sargento Skinner se niega a dejar su puesto y menciona que merece respeto y dignidad por ser hroe de guerra.Homer tiene una solucin para resolver el problema: Skinner es atado a un tren en la estacin y despedido por los habitantes de Springfield, siendo felicitado "con honores".Tanzarian vuelve a ser Skinner gracias a una orden judicial del juez Snyder, quien tambin decreta que no se debe volver a mencionar todo lo ocurrido, ni mencionar el nombre Tanzarian. Quien rompiese esta orden sera castigado con la pena de tortura.
