David combined his interest in farming with being a self-employed driver of his own JCB. He soon built up a reputation for groundworks on building sites in and around the area.

The last JCB that he bought in 2002 is in excellent condition which clearly illustrates the way in which it was operated. Both the JCB Digger and Ford Ranger were purchased from new.
