GVK CSIA hosts Routes Asia 2013

Routes Asia 2013, hosted by GVK CSIA from March 16th-19th was touted as one of the better organized events by senior functionaries of Routes Asia. This is a leading event that attracts airports, airlines, tourism authorities, policy leaders, keynote speakers and exhibitors; and promotes networking opportunities for the air service industry in the Asia-Pacific region. The event saw over 500 delegates representing 88 of world’s leading airlines and 260 airports from across Asia and beyond, making it the largest Routes Asia event hosted till date.

the opening ceremony and showcased the upcoming T2 terminal.

The ‘Chill Maadi’ concept created by GVK BIA team for the welcome dinner reflected the true ethos of Bangalore and was well appreciated by the audience. The Gala Dinner hosted by GVK CSIA team made for a fantastic evening packed with some of the finest performances, amazing food and decor and a great theme. It was truly reflective of the spirit of T2. The airport teams, especially the GVK CSIA team, deserve a resounding applause for their excellent efforts. The event led to the strong emergence of GVK AIRPORTS as a brand in the real sense.

We are happy to present the inaugural issue of GVKonnect. With the launch of this monthly corporate e-magazine, we aim to keep our readers abreast with the latest events and developments at GVK. The e-zine would serve as a medium to share updates across all our business verticals in a more concise and upbeat manner, besides giving you flavour of the seasons.

GVK & Aurizon to develop Galilee Basin infrastructure

GVK Hancock and Aurizon have entered into a strategic partnership to further the development of rail and port infrastructure that would help in the opening up of Galilee Basin coal reserves. Aurizon would acquire a 51% stake in Hancock Coal Infrastructure Pty Ltd; and has proposed investment to the tune of USD 6 Billion.

IRI, Roorkee studies Physical Model at Ratle Hydro Electric Project

To study the hydraulic performance of the Ratle HEP

structure, a physical model study has been carried out by

the prestigious Irrigation Research Institute, Roorkee. A

miniature concrete model of the project has been

created to observe the passage of water that depicts the

actual functioning of the dam. Aster observation, the

required modifications will be incorporated during the

construction of the dam.

Environment sustainability and employee-safety are given top priority at GVK. Recently, Jegurupadu CCPP organized a 'Safety Week' to highlight various security measures that are undertaken at the site. Safety Week celebrations are held annually at Jegurupadu plant to promote well-being amongst employees and contract workers. The event saw poster making and essay writing competitions being organised for employees and their families at the site.

GVK CSIA bagged the prestigious 'Golden Peacock National Quality Award' at the '23 World Congress on Leadership and Quality of Governance', for its significant contribution towards raising service standards. GVK CSIA was honoured amidst distinguished business leaders and other esteemed personalities present at the Congress.

Recently, team GVK BIA launched the General Aviation (GA) Terminal. Our Founder Chairman and Managing Director – Dr. GVK Reddy visited the well laid-out terminal extension that is spread across 80,000 square feet and has been completed in just 7 months. It was a big day at GVK BIA as this development marks another step closer towards the expansion of the terminal.

A healthy initiative at Jaipur-Kishangarh Expressway

GVK gives a lot of emphasis to the well-being of employees. A medical check-up camp was organized at the Jaipur-Kishangarh site. More than 200 employees underwent health check-ups including eye-tests, blood pressure, pathological and other general diagnostic procedures by a team of well-qualified doctors. Free medicines were also provided to the employees during the camp.

GVK BIO has entered into a collaborative agreement with the US-based Endo Pharmaceuticals for discovering small molecules targeting a protein. It has also tied up with Onconova Therapeutics, a US-based oncology specialist, to develop new cancer drugs. These partnerships are viewed as a step further towards building up of a discovery pipeline through external collaborations.

The whole process was completed in just 8 months.

GVK won the ‘Most Caring Companies Award’ for cultivating good corporate citizenship and GVK EMRI bagged the ‘Global CSR Excellence & Leadership Award’ for best use of CSR Practices in Health Care at the “World CSR Conference 2013” held in Mumbai.

These awards testify GVK's constant efforts to establish itself as a conglomerate that is committed towards sustainable development of its businesses and the society.

The employees participated in various sports like badminton, cricket, chess, carrom, table-tennis etc. Organized by GVK Sports and Recreation Club (GVK SRC), this annual meet brings together all employees encouraging the spirit of togetherness and joy at work.

GVK has come forward to promote yet another tennis sensation Ms. Gunuganti Sruta Kirti, a young Hyderabad girl who is ranked No. 3 in the under-14 national circuit. She has also won a final and two runners-up national titles. Sruta Kirti has shown tremendous potential by proving her mettle in the national and international circuit. GVK also holds recognition of promoting and encouraging reigning young talent like Yadlapalli Pranjala and popular tennis superstar - Sania Mirza in the past.

Various sites and offices celebrated Women's Day saluting the spirit of womanhood. Celebrity authors were invited to interact with women employees at Mumbai and Bangalore.

Vivanta by Taj, Hyderabad partnered with an NGO, 'Devnar Foundation for the Blind' that provides free education and residence to blind children. At an event hosted by Vivanta by Taj, visually impaired students, smartly dressed in uniforms, performed various patriotic songs for the guests. The audience was deeply touched by the heart-warming gesture of the students.
