Acknowledgement

This translation of the Divine Words of wisdom of our beloved Shri Shirdi Sai Baba has been

possible only due to HIS will. It is SAI who got this translated into English and we as lesser

mortals are but His instruments. The dedication of this English version therefore is done at His

Lotus Feet.

At the human level I would like to thank and acknowledge the support given by

Shri. Chittavenkateswaralu, the original author of the Telugu version who was inspired by

Baba to pen His wisdom. I also thank Shri. E. Rajasekaran whose Tamil translation was the

basis of my English version of this book.

SAYING ONE

“Where is Baba? What does Baba look like? You often imagine these things. In fact I am not far

away in an unknown place. I am always with you and within you. Even then you don’t recognize

me. The child is inside the womb of its mother. As soon as the child starts developing in the womb,

the mother develops an attachment to the child. She makes preparations ahead of time in order to

meet the needs of the child. Similarly I am also within you from the time of the very formation of

your body. I cater to all your needs. I quench your thirst and satiate your hunger. I give you strength.

I guide you through. The mother does these deeds from outside the body of the child. I am the inner

self prompting these activities. By looking at the subjective world, if you live in the illusion that I am

somewhere else, and then what can I do? If you realize that I am the doer of all happenings, then in

an instant you can feel my existence. The moment you remove your ego I will be in front of you

instantaneously. I am your own SELF.

SAYING TWO

The age of Kali itself is an ocean of sorrow. Human beings are like fish in such an ocean. One can

not but keep swimming always in that ocean. When one starts taking things easy then troubles are

sure to come. Life is a constant struggle. In this struggle there is only meaningless wandering,

without any peace of mind. You know quite well that only when there is food, you can eat else you

have to be hungry. These are all your vain attempts. Yet you don’t leave your longings. You don’t

leave your struggle as well. How can I help you if you keep struggling all alone? I am like a pot full

of water. If you don’t come near the pot how your thirst could be quenched? Who will attempt to

quench your thirst permanently? For all your needs you should use your own efforts. You have to

help yourself to reach Me. Leave aside your useless longings and struggles and surrender yourselves

to Me. I will always be with you. Before I reach you to quench your thirst, you get mentally

disturbed and go far away. I am only waiting for you. Lay your burden on Me and you will get

Shanti - peace of mind.

SAYING THREE

You get excited by looking at the body. You appreciate and nurture your body. You seek a

companion body and get entangled in worldliness. Such a relationship gets expanded like an ocean.

When you are sitting ashore, you fall into this ocean of worldliness. You start searching for someone

to save you from this ocean of worldliness. At that time I reach out like the twig of a tree or a rope or

a log of wood to save you. Thinking ‘how could any such irrelevant things save me?’ you leave Me

aside. You blame that God will not come to rescue when one is in trouble. How can I help you then?

I come to save you from the ocean of worldliness. But you are drowned in Maya, thus unable to

recognize me. Your wife, kith and kin will not come to your rescue. Yet you are only dependent on

them. When I come on My own, you are unable to recognize My power. As you are immersed in the

ocean of worldliness, I am also residing within you. Forgetting this truth, you are dependent on the

external world, neglecting and forgetting Me. How could I then help you? Never forget that I am

there forever. I do not forget you. I always exist in our mutual spiritual relationship. If you realize

this truth, I will be there forever to save you.

SAYING FOUR

If you simply keep repeating ‘Sai, Sai, Sai’ without doing any work then who will feed you? You

whine, ‘Who will provide nourishment?’ Just listen to me with patience. I am not asking you to

forsake your worldly physical activities. You do your duty and Karma (action). Work with your

hand, speak with your mouth, see with your eyes and thus carry on with all your external activities.

But focus your mind towards Me. I will reward you hundred times more for your efforts. If you have

the mental attitude that you are doing everything for Sai and have the focus on Me, you will achieve

one hundred times the result. If Sabja seeds are immersed in water, they swell and become large.

Where do the seeds get the energy? The energy comes form the water in which they are immersed.

Similarly, though you deserve to get only a miniscule amount of mustard size compensation, I

multiply and give you a much larger quantity, the size of a palm fruit! If you believe that I am only

an idol then what can I do? I, in fact, exist like you.

SAYING FIVE

When body and sense organs are strong, you believe that you can achieve anything with your energy

and capabilities. You believe that because of your capabilities, you are earning, acquiring property

and other wealth. When your body and sense organs become weak you start wondering whether you

can achieve anything in life. It is your ego which believes that your achievements are because of

your strength. The same ego believes that you are unable to achieve anything when you are weak.

Thus your argument and counter argument are due to your ego only. But do you realize who the

force within you is? It is I! Since you ignorantly believe in My absence within yourself, weakness

overcomes you. If you firmly believe that I am the author of both your happiness and sorrow, no

other power was ever within you nor was the same lost now. The existence and non existence of any

of your powers is the root cause of all the miseries. Leave aside this perception. I was present within

you; I am present in you now and will be always present in the future. If you realize that only I am

present always within you then you will get peace of mind. I am shanti (inner peace) incarnate. I am

present both in life and death.

SAYING SIX

Vedas and Shastras give us lot of scientific knowledge and spiritual wisdom. There is no doubt about

that. Do not waste your time by trying to assess your own capability. An ant cannot take the burden

of lifting a hillock, but can climb over that. It is able to perform this task because of its confidence in

performing such a task. If you have such unshakable faith in the power of My Name, then I will raise

you to the spiritual peak atop! When you pour water, plants grow with new branches. Similarly for

Vedas and Shastras, the source of strength is only His name. Understanding the name in synchrony

with form is the essence of truth. By reciting My name you will ward off unwanted thoughts. You

will be rid of all miseries. Just like tamarind removes the tarnish from Brass vessels, recitation of My

Name removes Maya, the illusion. My pure consciousness will be realized merely by reciting My

name.

SAYING SEVEN

Why do misfortunes beseech us? One feels that if there is God, there should not be troubles and

sorrows. Leave that matter aside. A mother teaches a child to walk. The child thinking that he has

learnt to walk falls down after a few steps. Similarly when you are practicing spirituality, do not be

deluded with your progress thinking that you have achieved God realization. I advice you on the

smooth path to overcome your sorrows. Without practicing the same, if you start thinking that you

have understood the means to overcome the same, then I cannot help you with your

misunderstanding. If a child does not forget how his mother taught him to walk, the child will not

fall down. Similarly follow my Teachings. Always think of Me and have firm faith that it is Me who

does everything. If you don’t allow the ego to believe that you are doing everything then I will be

with you, supporting you. I will make your path comfortable. If there are thorns on the path you are

treading, I go ahead and remove them for you. If you forget that I always move with you then how

can I help you? Believe that BABA is yours and then I will consider that you are mine. If you can’t

realize the brightness of the light and think of darkness, then what can I do?

SAYING EIGHT

Ego is a bad quality. Ego is responsible for bad consequences. Those who fall a prey to ego will not

be able to reach higher and better levels of existence. Those who have ego will not be able to receive

love and affection from others. Even if one advises another on good thoughts, people with ego will

not listen. They will look at those advising them with disdain. One should try to avoid people with

ego whenever possible. Even if you come across such egoistic individuals, you must move away

from them. Ego is an internal enemy. It cannot be won from outside. The egoistic person must

overcome the ego himself. If a person with ego gets sorrow, others will not feel sorry for them. Such

people with ego will not earn my mercy. They will not have anybody close to them. I will never

reside within people with ego. I will not even reach anywhere near them. But if such people

sacrifice their actions and surrender themselves at my feet then I will give them My blessings.

Egolessness is My personification and My essence. Those who desire My help and grace must be

without ego.

SAYING NINE

What you believe is yours, truly does not belong to you. Therefore in the cycle of creation nothing

belongs to you permanently. What belonged to you yesterday does not belong to you today.

Whatever you imagine, the same is not true or permanent. You might have had plenty of wealth

yesterday. For some reason such a wealth is lost today. Spouse, children, kith and kin get connected

to you for a while and vanish away after a time. You get attached to them, developing affinity for

them and move away from Me-who is residing within you. If you recite My name externally, but

hold these relatives close to your heart, then where is the place for Me to be within you? Of what use

is such recitation? Whatever belongs to a place must be in that location. I am the resident of your

heart. Your very self. I desire your well being. If the root of the plant is not given water, then how

could anybody expect it to grow? Always remember Me, even when you are busy with work, in

whichever place you are and whatever you do. Meditate on Me and carry out the task. I will ensure

success in all your endeavors. Those who want the resultant growth of a plant must also look after it.

SAYING TEN

You may often feel the following: “I worship Baba at all times. I have great faith in Baba. I daily

conduct prayers and Pooja to Baba. Even then miseries and sorrows befall me. If I am suffering

because of bad karma, of what use is it worshipping Baba?”

I cannot accept that your thinking is correct. Because of my blessings you are able to worship Me.

You are able to meditate on Me. It is your good fortune that you got an opportunity to worship Me.

You are proof of yourself only for the present birth. But I am the witness for all your previous births.

Since your misdeeds of past several births have got accumulated like a hillock, I need to unburden

them. The deeds of the previous births are causative prints, which result in your joys and sorrows in

this birth. I am witness to them. Because of the above sometimes there is little delay in getting

happiness and solace. Your actions are all external. My actions are all internal. Without

understanding this concept, of what use is there in blaming Me? When your past karmic (causative)

actions are done with, then you will meet with good fortune.

SAYING ELEVEN

You pray to Me with certain expectation. You do not know the good and bad effects of those

expectations. You only have the desire to get the same fulfilled. I fulfill those desires which are good

for you. Again you develop yet another expectation. If that desire is not met with; your faith in Me is

diminished. For example, a child moves near a lamp. The child wants to touch the lamp. The mother

observes the movement of the child and keeps the lamp far away. The child gets stubborn and starts

weeping. The cry of the child is pleasant to the mother. I am like that mother when such wishes of

hours are not fulfilled. While the child cries in that manner, the mother hugs him and feeds him milk.

I also love you with similar affection. Like the milk smoothly flowing through the throat of the child

noiselessly, My love also flows smoothly towards you. You pray loudly, seeking Me. I come to you

quietly without any sound. But within a moment if your mind gets disturbed then what can I do?

Only when a child is on the lap of the mother, she can feed him milk. You need a lot of patience.

SAYING TWELEVE

People are living in an illusory world. This existence was created out of transient illusion (Maya) by

Me. All living entities are like pawns. They move as per the will of Maya. Maya itself created

delusion. Even this Maya is the aspect of God. Because of this Maya, which is an illusion, people are

unable to perceive Me. If you keep meditating on Me then Maya will disappear. Like moss covering

a lake without visibility of water, this illusory world covers you from realizing Me. You may wonder

‘What is the form of Maya?’ It is in your form only. Therefore don’t depend on your body. Don’t

believe in your sense organs. Do not depend on the comforts derived from sense organs. Before you

embark on useless activities using your sense organs please meditate on Me. I will be your armory

against any ill effects due to such activities. Like a mother spreading a mosquito net over a child to

protect against mosquito bites, I will protect one from sinful acts. If you keep feeling sorrowful

without remembering and seeking My help, then how can I help you? I am like a shadow in your

front and back. Keep looking at Me through your inner vision.

SAYING THIRTEEN

Do not argue with regard to following the disciplines prescribed in scriptures. These disciplines are

laid out only for the good of humanity. By adopting good ways of disciplinary life, bad effects of

actions are removed. Do not forget that Vedas and Shastras (The Holy Hindu scriptures) repeatedly

impress on the good aspects of such disciplines. While following such disciplines, though you may

observe the three aspects of the doer, the action and the result, remember that all three are My

identity only. If you realize that the creator, preserver and the eliminator are all but Me, only then

you will not have the desire for the result of your actions. Even the result of your action is only Me.

Therefore whoever remembers Me and carries out their duties by offering them to Me, for such

persons My grace and protection will always be available. Therefore if anybody keeps meditating on

Me always, their bad deeds reach My feet, leaving them free from the effects. Develop the attitude

that you are My personification. I and you are not different. You are but My reflection. If you firmly

believe that whatever you see is Me residing in that form, then I am truly yours!

SAYING FOURTEEN

Visit to temples and holy places and dip in holy rivers will definitely yield good results. Similarly,

the holy feet of great souls are sacred. In spite of carrying out aforesaid tasks the soul does not get

purified. What is the reason? Are the holy places responsible for this? The sambangi flower does not

lose it’s fragrance at any time. If there is a defect in the nose that takes in the fragrance, the

sambangi flower is not the cause. Similarly whenever you undertake the visits to the above places,

there must be a sacred attitude. The result will depend on the attitude. If you keep looking at me with

a wandering mind, how could you get the desired result of my Dharshan? The Shiva consciousness

is always within the individual soul. The individual keeps moving away from that consciousness

with a wavering mind. If the mind is wavering then how can one achieve any positive results? If you

prostrate before Me only physically, of what use is that? Your thoughts must always be turned

towards Me. You must only think of Me. And then you will get welfare. As long as you keep your

mind towards Me in all earnestness, I will look after you with redoubled care.

SAYING FIFTEEN

I will certainly be present where My Life story is heard, My Namasankirtan (My glory) is sung,

where there is longing to listen to My biography, disinterest in worldly affairs and such other noble

qualities are experienced. Even if you casually remember Me I will carefully listen to your prayers.

Worldly matters will only give unhappiness, but not Shanti (peace of mind). In whatever form Bliss

is within you, I am also present in the identical Blissful form in you. I do not have any family

attachment of wife, children, relatives, home and such other bondage. Even if you convey your

sorrows and troubles to your family will they be able to resolve them? All living beings are within

My control. There is no life without Me. Do not worry unnecessarily, do not forget this truth. I have

solution for all your problems. When I have the solution if you keep moving away from Me then can

I help you? Have complete faith in Me. Surrender yourself completely including your body, mind

and worldly wealth. Where will I go leaving you aside? My dwelling is only your heart. Keep that

place pure. Your heart alone is My temple.

SAYING SIXTEEN

Like a mother pacifying a child by showing the moon and singing a lullaby, without knowing why

the child is crying, I have also been instructing you with useful and helpful stories. I have also

demonstrated My Powers to help you overcome problems. I have advised you on good qualities.

You do not know why you are affected with sorrow and travails but I know why you are inflicted by

them. I reside within your heart. I am your own very self. Without listening to My live stories

intently and realizing My miraculous deeds, you get mentally disturbed. How could I support you in

that situation? Without a firm mind, you are in a state of coma. You are worried about your sensual

feelings, food and such trivial factors. The peace of mind which I provide you is discarded and you

keep moving away from Me. How far can you move away? Is there any other place to give you

Shanti? Why are you not able to realize that I am always available for you to get the requisite

Shanti? Only when you eat with due care, can the food be digested. With adequate patience if you

listen to my parables and Divine acts and be happy about the same, I will undertake your burden.

Your sorrows will be wiped out. If you forget about your mental agony and unwanted attachment, I

will always remember you. I am the LIGHT and you are the traveler.

SAYING SEVENTEEN

Do not be in doubt whether your prayers, worship and entrustments to the Lord reach HIM. I am

always watching every move of yours. Nothing will ever happen without My knowledge. You are

discouraged by imaging that I am far away from you. Do not allow yourself to be overcome with

sorrow .Happiness and sorrow happen due to the effect of past deeds. By worrying about the same,

you will only lose peace of mind. The joys and sorrows are transient like fire flies. They will

disappear. Discard all bad thoughts. Like cleansing dirt with water, if you keep Me always in your

mind, your fear will vanish. I am the doer and only you are the external cause factor. Your ego alone

causes all miseries. If I am within you how can there be any separate existence for you? The

apparent distance which you believe exists is only illusory. Destroy that illusion. You will then

merge into Me. Then there will be eternal Bliss.

SAYING EIGHTEEN

If everything happens as per your wish then you will be the Almighty, the Creator. In fact you are

not the cause of anything. Only the Lord who is beyond limits is the Creator. He is Allah the Great.

Therefore all that you desire may not happen. Only that which the Almighty has commanded will

happen. You are just a part of Creation and not the Creator Himself. Then why are you unnecessarily

worried? You are just a puppet in the hands of Allah. Allah is the only wire-puller of such a puppet.

Therefore remember and pray Allah everyday and every moment. Whatever is good to you will be

granted by Him. That alone will happen. .You have to carry the lamp yourself. The lamp will not

follow you. It is ignorance to fall into a pit while holding the lamp in your hand. Dispel your

ignorance. Understand My true location. It is My command and the result belongs to you. You will

not be drowned in sorrow if you have this correct attitude. The result of your past actions is

inexorable. Worrying about the same is total ignorance. That I am present everywhere is the true

total wisdom.

SAYING NINETEEN

If your child demands a fruit from a tree, you take enough trouble to pluck the same and give it to

him. When the child happily eats the fruit you are pleased. What do you name this relationship?

Similarly if you have full faith in Me I will also provide you with various fruits for your efforts. I

will be very happy to see you enjoying such fruits of your actions. The loving bond of relationship

between us is built on such faith in Me. In whatever form you have the faith in Me, I reside in you in

the same form. To the extent you have such a faith; I am also within you to the same measure. The

linkage between Me and yourself is only the bridge of faith. If you surrender to Me totally, I belong

to you completely. I am waiting to serve you and support you. If you discard whatever benefits are

readily available for you and seek non reachable fruits of your desires, how can I ever help you? You

are my child and I am your father. I am teaching you to take the right steps. Follow my path and you

will find that both happiness and sorrow will not affect you.

SAYING TWENTY

Worldliness and Spirituality are in two different directions. Both are opposite ways of creation. The

moment a person takes life he gets involved in worldliness. It is rare that a person is born without

worldliness. Such persons are indeed Godly. Worldly persons desire sense pleasures. Happiness has

no definition. Wherever the mind is engrossed in, it is believed to be happiness. Happiness is a state

of mind. Happiness is borderless. There is no end to happiness. The birth-death-birth cycle as

expressed in the saying “punarabi jananam punarabi maranam” is the cause of this endless

happiness. But the spiritual path is totally different. I am always immersed in spirituality. Those who

want to realize Me must reach Me only through this path of spirituality. They alone can get My

vision. In spirituality there is no pleasure. There is only Bliss. This is also called the Bliss

experienced by the soul. If the state of this Bliss is also transcended then one reaches the final state

of Eternal Bliss. It is in this final state one realizes the ultimate truth called Brahman. Those who

have progressed through various stages of spirituality reaching this final state merge in Me.

SAYING TWETY ONE

The eternal cosmos with a wide spectrum of diversity could not be understood by anybody. Which

route leads to which end can not be spoken with definiteness by anybody. The outer cloak of the

cosmic consciousness is ignorance. The inner core is the spiritual wisdom. What one can perceive in

spiritual wisdom cannot be comprehended in the physical knowledge. The emptiness present in

ignorance will not exist in the spiritual wisdom. Whatever is borne out of ignorance will ultimately

get destroyed. Whatever is earned out of spiritual wisdom will exist forever with total freshness. If a

person gets bloated with ego after acquiring spiritual wisdom, then he will fall into the precipice of

ignorance again. If one wants to avoid such a situation, it is essential to seek the support of an

appropriate Guru. The Guru is the only guide. Water gets frozen to form ice. When ice melts it

becomes water again. When you cross ignorance you get spiritual wisdom. The ignorance is

eliminated by listening to My parables and by constantly remembering Me. Only then can you

understand Me truly. By meditation My true state of eternal Bliss is realized. The state of misery is

removed.

SAYING TWENTY TWO

The body born out of physical pleasure gets destroyed by death. Therefore the body is not

permanent. This is known from the time of birth. It is ignorant to be sorrowful. The time span

between birth and death is the period for one to make efforts to realize God. By getting involved in

physical pleasures during such a rare period, man is getting caught in the eternal cycle of birth and

death. Rebirth is unavoidable in such a situation. Only the individual has the power to ensure

avoiding rebirth through his efforts. Those who aspire for eternal bliss and permanent salvation must

be without any desire. By detaching oneself from body consciousness and family bondage, one must

seek Me. Those who long to realize me with a sense of urgency, only for such people I will be near

and dear. Those who long for Me till the end will merge in Me. Constant repetition of My name will

ensure such a person will not have rebirth. By incessantly remembering Me, the person ultimately

dissolves into Me.

SAYING TWENTY THREE

Those who wander aimlessly without any goal in life will not get Divine realization. Efforts without

any aim are a waste indeed. If a person can not control his mind, he will not get peace of mind from

any divine force. The intense expectation of a person must be towards achieving goodness. By

worrying about yourself, your family. kith and kin, your attempts will be without purpose. Thus you

lose peace of mind. I always advise you not to worry about your routine need for food, clothes and

sundry. You will get what you deserve based on the law of cause and effect. Do not be too worried

about such things. If a person shackles himself even while being in a cage, how can I then help him?

Leave aside your worries and be with Me. Meditate on Me. Even if the heavens fall down do not get

disheartened. When I am there to save you why are you worried? By worrying unnecessarily you are

moving away from Me. You bring greater sorrow to yourself. When you have unshakeable faith in

Me is there anything that can not be achieved?

SAYING TWENTY FOUR

I am eagerly waiting for people to come to Me seeking spiritual wisdom. I am anxious about such

persons to reach for Me. I have boundless riches of goodness to be offered. If I give a wake up call

asking anybody to dive deep into these bountiful riches nobody responds to that. Whosoever seeks

Me to reap such goodness is indeed a proud ward of his Mother. The son of such a mother is also a

blessed soul. Those who are distracted by worldly desires cannot get any peace of mind. By

observing such people I am distressed. What can I do to those who have this rare human birth and

yet are lost in this worldly duality without seeking permanent peace of mind? How much can I worry

about those unfortunate ones who do not have any interest and desire in My Divinity, My spiritual

advice and recitation of My name? Such people will definitely get a rebirth. Without My will you

will be unable to get what you desire. If you understand My true longing for your goodness then you

will automatically seek Me. Such an effort by itself will lead you to Me. You will not get the peace

of mind anywhere other than through seeking My path.

SAYING TWENTY FIVE

Let Me tell you one important truth. I will not be present where there is greediness, extravaganza,

impure minds, cunningness and untruth. Even if people with such qualities pray and have My

Dharshan, the effect will be like a water droplet on the lotus leaf, without getting retained. The

moment such people get rid of these qualities, they will get My blessings. I am not bound by various

religious rights. I will take care of burdens and look after the welfare of those who are keen to be

associated with Me and those who truly love Me and respect Me. For such people there is no other

source of solace. These are the people who alone matter to Me. It is because of our past bondage we

are in contact with each other. If you want this bondage to be permanent there is only one way out.

Have full faith in Me. Do not try to play hide and seek with Me. I will not be present where there are

dirty qualities of the mind similar to the floors contaminated with grease and grind. Whoever keeps

his heart open with love I will come and reside therein.

SAYING TWENTY SIX

I do not have the power to make you fly in the sky by giving you a Mantra for recitation. Do

not expect such power to be bestowed on you by me. I am not the Almighty. I am just a

servant of God. I was longing earnestly for His blessings. My Lord Allah is full of mercy. He

has granted a bounty of spiritual wealth. There is no equal to Him. For Me too, there is no

relation other than Him. I can not be away from Him even for a minute. I can not bear His

separation even for a moment. I seek Him only through this path. I got His blessings. For you

there are relatives. But for Me, He is the only one who is my closest and nearest. Allah is my

Master. He is my Father, Mother and every relative. You may also adopt this path and reach

Me. For this to happen only the path of devotion is the surest. The relationship borne out of

devotion will permanently link you to Me. It will be difficult to reach Me through other

means. If you are saturated with devotion towards Me, I will be also be saturated with Love

for you. This is My path.

SAYING TWENTY SEVEN

If there is any rationale beyond questioning it is Mine. Through rationale you can not fathom

Me. My actions will be apparently contradictory, secretive and beyond comprehension.

In whichever way a person worships Me, I can correspond to him. Where there is faith I will

be there with that faith. My very embodiment is faith. My miracles are unique experiences

themselves. For some the experience will be externally perceptible and for others the same

may be latent. You will not be able to understand the inner meaning of such experiences. I

am a witness to your many past, present and future lives. Based on individual karma I bestow

the appropriate result. If you understand that whatever the result bestowed on you is My will

then you have understood Me. Therefore if you worry about unfulfilled desires and non

availability of your wants there is no use of the same. In order that you get salvation and to

make you realize My presence, I perform My miracles. If you dwell on My miracles and

intensely immerse your thoughts on them, you will then understand who I am.

SAYING TWENTY EIGHT

Those who want to have a good life in the present birth must develop a quality of sacrifice.

What can I talk about those who struggle and amass wealth only to utilize the same for their

enjoyment? Those people who always think about acquiring wealth and protect that wealth

will not have time to think about Me. They do not realize that even as wealth increases,

sorrow also increases proportionately. Those who have obtained wealth and have contributed

to noble causes are indeed fortunate ones. If anybody offers Me one Rupee as Dakshina, I

must return it to them hundred fold. Those who are indebted to this Dwaraka Maayi and the

Fakir directs Me to these individuals, from them I demand Dakshina. Thenceforth such

people are relieved from any and all kinds of debts. Thus they sow positive karmas by

offering the Dakshina. They then enjoy the fruits of having given the Dakshina. Such

individuals who are philanthropic and are not attached to wealth become My closest friends.

I am ever eager to provide salvation to them. Those who realize this are really lucky and

noble.

SAYING TWENTY NINE

If you continue to always be attached to the worldly pleasures and get intoxicated in them, then you

will never be able to reach Me. If you have excessive desire for such worldly fleeting happiness

when will you have time for Me? You will then be left with no choice other than to be physically

weak, disabled and old, awaiting your end. At that time what can you do? You will be born again

and again. I have been trying to redeem you from that situation. Still nobody listens. Will Allah

come to your rescue only as and when you want? This very moment is in your control. Just listen to

Me carefully. Soak your thoughts with My blissful miracles. Ponder deeply over them. Compare the

wealth of joy you will derive from such act of spirituality to the passing worldly happiness. You will

then realize the inner meaning of My words. Will there be any eternal and everlasting happiness

other than thinking of Me? Whatever be your daily chores they will not be affected by My thoughts.

On the other hand My thoughts will strengthen your efforts. I will be of support to you. Do not

postpone such a good act till tomorrow.

SAYING THIRTY

Those who want to save themselves from their mistakes will kill their own conscience and

blame others. That is how they derive satisfaction. In fact this is nothing but cheating ones

own self. Just think how much you hurt others when you speak harshly with them. If you

behave this way, who will protect you later on? You create hell for yourself both in this

temporal world and in the world of life after. In this world people will curse you and in the

hereafter, the Divine will not come to your rescue. When you are about to succumb to anger,

think of Me and surrender to Me. You will get plenty of peace. If you perform such acts of

piety, I will come to you. You will be loved by Me. You will get salvation through Me. As

long as you have anger overpowering you, My blessing will remain like a mirage.

SAYING THIRTY ONE

I often see that people without any enthusiasm are generally unhappy. I am always concerned

about them. Why do they get to this state of unhappiness? They reach this situation of

helplessness either due to their desire to carry out things beyond their capability or due to the

weakness of not allowing them to reach their goal. Normally this happens when such

individuals forget about the ever existing all pervading Divine Force. The will of man is

limited but the Divine will is infinite. Those who always keep My presence within

themselves will never become weak. Even their wishes will not be harmful to anybody. I

keep feeding you with whatever you deserve and whatever your need. If anybody desires

beyond what I provide them with, then how could any support be rendered by this Shirdi Sai?

If you realize that whatever you are enjoying and happily experiencing are all due to My

Blessings, then you will always be under My welfare.

SAYING THIRTY TWO

Do not get confused about the method of worshipping Me. I expect only deep faith in Me. If that is

inadequate then whatever worship you do will not have any result. In order that you develop faith in

Me at every moment, I support you in all your endeavors. Do not be under the impression that I

reside in My physical body only in Shirdi. I am present everywhere. There are no boundaries and

limits to My access. I do not need planes, trains or other forms of transport to reach any place. I can

reach wherever I want. The moment you think of Me, I will be there at that very instant. Whoever

takes the food only after offering Me a morsel and whoever thinks of Me during each activity that

they perform, to them I will be present and be visible in the front and back. I am the true cause of all

your actions. I am always ready, day and night, to fulfill all your legitimate desires. Those who

understand and unburden their problems at My feet will have their difficulties resolved immediately.

SAYING THIRTY THREE

Everything happens in life as per the law of karma and ones previous actions. Both happiness

and sorrow experienced are the result of such past actions. I am just a witness to your actions

and experiences. I do not act Myself nor do I make others act. Even then people hold Me

responsible for their deeds. Even when you are in sorrow, if you have faith in Me, then My

help will be definitely and readily available to you. Nobody can efface the cause and

consequence of karmic actions. One has to go through the effects of prarabdha karma.

Running away from reality whenever there is sorrow or committing suicide and such evil

deeds is not the solution to get over the karmic seed. Rebirth to go through karmic action is

inevitable. The only recourse to minimize the karmic effect is to boldly face and go through

the same. If you always remember Me and continue to have faith in Me, then, I give you

enough strength to experience the effects of karma without difficulty. I will ensure that you

do not feel you are going through sorrows. It is Me who is within you carrying the burden of

karma. Whenever you forget Me, you get sorrowful. Do not forget that I belong to you.

SAYING THIRTY FOUR

When you have all the wealth and prosperity, people will come to you. When times change

and you are in a difficult position, people whom you think belong to you will not come to

you or be there to support you. Thus you are controlled by changing times. In fact nothing in

this world is reliable. Also, no one is dependable. In fact in such a situation, when you are

completely under duress, you are afraid and feel lonely. You will then realize that what you

believed to be true is only your imagination. Of what use is there wailing at that time? I am

the Eternal Sanathana Sarathi. (The Prime Force). When the cyclic ages change, I will be

ever present then too. Keep maintaining your love, faith, friendship and affection towards

Me. I am like the eye lid of your eyes. I will protect you even without your efforts. As long

as you are dependent on the external world, sorrow will persist. Leave aside your external

focus and concentrate inwards towards Me. I will then support you as always.

SAYING THIRTY FIVE

There will be a good harvest on a fertile soil. There is a need to plough even such a rich soil.

The soil also has to be watered regularly. Proper planting of saplings are essential. Due care

has to be taken while tending the plants. If you undertake such efforts then good harvest can

be expected. Your heart is also like fertile soil. Nobody is born with a poor heart. When

selfishness overcomes the mind then weakness prevails. When selfish desires are not

fulfilled, then evil qualities arise. Such evil qualities become the root cause for bad events.

This ultimately leads to destruction. Therefore, whoever is far removed from lust, evil and

other such negative qualities will become a divine person. If you want to ensure such

negative qualities do not sprout in your mind then, it is imperative that you keep Me in your

heart always. By the pristine purity of My Form, cleanse your heart and keep it sacred. Then

you become totally pure. I will be ever present in the minds of those people who are not

weak but pure in their heart. I fulfill all their desires. Certainly such individuals get complete

peace of mind.

SAYING THIRTY SIX

In this creation there is no living entity without hunger. Hunger is quite a harsh aspect.

Human beings can express their hunger and get the same satiated. But look at the species of

the animal and plant kingdom. Due to the effects of previous karma, they are born either as a

dog or may be as a cat. There is none to look after their wellbeing. Nor can they express their

hunger or suffering. Human beings and animals, because of their previous connection with

each other, come into contact with one another. At that time do not drive them away or

ruthlessly beat them. When people are tormented with words or animals are beaten and

tortured, I get distressed. Whatever action is done without mercy on any living being will

only give Me pain. Do not look at the eligibility of any living being while offering food. The

pangs of hunger are the same for one and all. I will be pleased only when even animals are

fed with food. A handful of food offered to any living being is equivalent to the food offered

to Me on a golden plate. To satisfy their hunger is equivalent to satisfying My hunger. You

will be the one to benefit from this action.

SAYING THIRTY SEVEN

Birth and death are natural events. However, human beings alone have the opportunity to get

release from the cycle of birth and death and attain liberation. Thus the human body alone

has got a higher status of existence. Ignorant individuals die off. Devoted and realized

individuals reach liberation. The soul is pure. People with purity of soul alone can merge

with the Infinite. By removing the weakness of the mind, by bringing the senses under total

control, by being away from sensual pleasures and attachments, by always meditating on Me

and reciting My name, by following My advice with total Love for Me, by remembering me

even at the hour of death, you can be assured of permanent and eternal liberation. Whatever

the mind is focused on at the hour of death, the same will be the consequence. The results of

ones action of previous births will decide on the course of future births. The Vedas

unequivocally declare this truth.

SAYING THIRTY EIGHT

Even people of great religious learning, erudite scholars and those who practice yoga struggle

without peace of mind. Why do they get restless? They are always in search of a solution to

this problem. In fact peace of mind will not come from others or by certain practices. There

must be a cause for this loss of peace of mind. Just by studying the scriptures one will not get

peace of mind. Whatever is mentioned in the scriptures must be practiced diligently and

studiously. The teachings of the scriptures must be brought to appropriate practice. No

scripture must be learnt incompletely. One should fully study the scriptures whether one

understands the same or otherwise. If the contents are grasped, peace of mind will be

automatically achieved. There is another method to get peace of mind-by being in the

presence of realized souls. Peace of mind will automatically come where such people live,

similar to the presence of water in a pond. One should repose faith with such great

personalities.

SAYING THIRTY NINE

Wherever there are longings, sorrows also will be present. Total satisfaction of all desires is

not possible for anybody. Like dragon flies, the desires keep mounting. Such desires only

lead to sorrows without any benefit. Deer, by listening to the sound, dragonflies by light,

elephants by the sense of touch and serpents by sense of sound lose their lives. When such is

the case of these living species with a single desire, what will be the fate of human beings

with numerous desires? The strange aspect of such desires is that none of these will ever give

lasting happiness. Even after realizing this truth, it is absolute ignorance to go after such

desires to get them quenched. If such desires are eliminated then worldliness will vanish. My

parables, acts of piety, miracles, meditation of My Form and recitation of My name are such

weapons against ignorance. Whoever listens to My stories and mull over them will have such

ignorance melt away like butter in heat. Ignorance is the root cause of all miseries.

SAYING FORTY

Sense objects are equivalent to poison. However, they are quite powerful. If poison is

consumed, death will occur only once. The sense objects make a person bound in the cycle of

birth and death. Those who enjoy sense objects go down spiritually. Their personal value is

lost. Respect and prestige will get far removed. Their discriminatory power will be lost. Such

people will lose their self respect completely. Those who have permanent body

consciousness, having total attachment only with family, will have intense desire for material

aspects. Rare will be the situation when such people will attain spiritual wisdom. Without

detachment and renunciation, such spiritual enlightenment will not occur. Those who are

detached from worldly desires will find sense objects to be like thorns pricking them. They

come to Me seeking spiritual knowledge and solace. By having My dharshan alone they get

peace of mind. Having true. divine love towards me, they merge in Me.


43

SAYING FORTY ONE

To get liberated from the shackles of cycles of birth and death we are born into this world.

Through good fortune we have taken human birth. By being slaves to sensual pleasures we

enhance our karmic efforts. This will not help mankind to get over this vicious cycle of birth

and death. Instead we need to use this rare opportunity of human birth to obtain permanent

liberation. Those who are devoted to the Almighty with purity of mind, word and deed alone

will seek eternal liberation. One should be away from the cycle of positive and negative

qualities as well as from evil and goodness. If one surrenders all deeds to the Almighty it is

possible to get over the effects of the above cycle. Since this physical world is a place for

cause and effect, one can not escape from doing any action. Without doing work, life can not

go on. However being detached even while doing the required action is the most beneficial

form of existence. The body, mind and words are the root causes of sinful activities. With

purity of the aforesaid threefold qualities, if one performs spiritual efforts, it puts an end to

the cycle of cause and effect. By such intense efforts, one gets liberated similar to a prisoner

who comes out of jail by good behavior.

SAYING FORTY TWO

If the soul attains eternity, then it remains merged with Brahman. This is the true meaning of

salvation. To attain salvation one need not leave the physical body. Even while physically

existing, one can have self realization and salvation. Such great souls are revered as Jeevan

Muktas. Those who are immersed in God by body, mind and action are also Jeevan Muktas.

Such people upon leaving the body merge with the Infinite. It is imperative to understand

ones own identity and the true cause of the three aspects of body, mind and deed. I also

espouse that true goal of life is to realize God. This eternal aspect is the true form of soul.

By forgetting this important aspect one gets entangled in the cycle of life and death. The

proper cure for this problem lies in sincerely repeating God’s name. When such great souls

descend the earth they are indeed the true reflection of the eternal Almighty. Only through

sincere and intense devotion it is possible to get liberated from worldly attachments. The

people who follow this path reach the state of permanent Ananda. The path of devotion is the

best choice to reach God.

SAYING FORTY THREE

During the eclipse, the sun and moon lose their luster. In fact there is apparent loss of

brightness. Due to the eclipse planets are also subjected to such a condition. This truth is

always explained by nature. Similarly, human beings are born with purity and genuineness.

Due to their association with evil individuals or due to development of bad qualities or wrong

ways of living or due to other wrongful causes, people are affected by ego. The moment ego

overpowers a man he gets into the downward path. Like a person affected with wasting

disease, he starts moving towards failures. Those who believe that they are not superior to

others, that their powers are controlled by the supreme and the knowledge to be gained is

limitless will have their ego far removed from them. Ego is borne out of ignorance. Such

ignorance can be destroyed only by meditating on the Lord. Those who realize that the

Almighty is full of immeasurable worthiness reach self-realization.

SAYING FORTY FOUR

Let Me give you all one Truth. Listen carefully. There is no birth without a cause. Allah has

chosen us for a specific purpose. The moment we are born into this illusory world, we forget

the purpose of our birth. Along with our birth we imbibe the negative quality of

forgetfulness. Therefore we forget the purpose of being born in this world and get entangled

with sensual enjoyments. From that moment onwards we move away from the path of

spirituality. At that time by His Grace some one directs us towards the path of God. Those

who have wisdom utilize this opportunity and get benefited to achieve the purpose of this

birth. Such a person who guides the individual is the true Great Guru. The Guru gives solace.

Those who realize God are indeed very fortunate. Do not discard the noble advice given by

people. Whoever teaches you good thoughts will be beneficial, similar to any person giving

pure water to quench the thirst of a thirsty person? Those who are in search of people

preaching spiritual ideas are known as Jignasu. A life without longing and searching for truth

is a waste.

SAYING FORTY FIVE

By misinterpretation of the essence of Vedas and Scriptures more harm is done than good. If

we are inactive without doing any work and expect God to take care of everything, success

will not be achieved. Food can be cooked only when we have rice, water and fire. Thereafter

hunger can be satisfied. Similarly without focused action, true faith and God’s will are

essential to achieve any desired result. Therefore if you expect your work to be completed

successfully, have full faith in Me and worship Me with total surrender. Those who have

total surrender towards Me will have all their legitimate desires fulfilled without an iota of

doubt. If you understand and worship Me, I will ensure success in all your endeavors. I will

go all out to have your efforts met with success. I will ensure your prosperity. If the attitude

of realizing Me in everything is present, I will not go away from you. Your heart in fact is

My dwelling.

SAYING FORTY SIX

Very learned people, philosophers, intellectuals and even ignorant people come to Me. Great

Songsters, Bhajan Singers, beggars and ordinary folk also come to Me. To see the greatness

of Dwarakmayi, people visit Me. Some persons come to have My Dharshan. This Mosque is

always open for everybody. I do not have any partiality or hatred towards anybody. All are

equal to Me. Even then some people seek to find out whether I am a Hindu or Muslim or

belong to any particular caste and accordingly decide to make their decision. Neither is

anybody firm in their decision nor do they pay heed to My advice. The moment a river

merges with the ocean, the name, form and the taste of it’s water become that of the ocean. In

this infinite existence we exist with peace only due to the Mercy of the Lord. He is our father

and Protector. After ultimately reaching Me with immense efforts, if anybody wastes his time

enquiring about My background then what kind of resultant salvation will he get? Those

who believe in the principle that the cow gives only pure white milk irrespective of the color

of it’s skin and adopt that attitude towards Me, then, I will guarantee their protection.

SAYING FORTY SEVEN

You may have doubts about the right way of serving the Guru. Service is a very sacred cause. Doing

seva only at one’s own set times, is not appropriate. Those who serve the Guru with total surrender

of body, mind, emotions and individuality are indeed fortunate. The Guru knows what is good or bad

for his disciple. Whatever he does will result only in goodness. He ensures only the welfare of his

disciple. Therefore one must have humility, faith, patience and forbearance with the Guru and must

learn the essence of spirituality from him with all humility. The Guru will not adopt a particular

method. Whenever he utters even normal and ordinary words, one should grasp the contents and

accumulate the wealth of knowledge. Like the bird waiting for water to quench the thirst, one should

longingly await the Guru’s sayings and absorb them with all earnestness. When one has such an

approach, the Guru will certainly accept the disciple with love. If he gets angry then even Lord Siva

will not come to one’s rescue. The humility towards the Guru will bring forth plenty of benefits.

SAYING FORTY EIGHT

Everybody longs to get the vision of God. What does He look like? What is His Divine

Form? These are questions that everyone long to understand. Let us set that aside. If you

understand where He dwells then you can realize the attributes of His existence. In fact

temples are utilized to worship only the Form aspect of the Almighty. In reality God dwells

within the temple of our hearts. If the heart is pure and unalloyed then our mind will progress

towards the true human values. Such is the effect of the presence of God in one’s heart.

Through those human values, the highest qualities of mercy, dharmic oriented life, following

the path of truthful existence, empathy and sympathy with all living beings, true love towards

others and such other noble qualities will automatically sprout and blossom. These are the

qualities that are to be revered as the true form of God. How could God have only one Form?

Whatever is the noble quality one possesses that in itself is the true Form of God. In reality

whoever has these great and idealistic qualities are Divinity themselves.

SAYING FORTY NINE

Man is a social being. Every person is dependent on others in some way or the other .If this

co-operation is properly understood by everybody then society’s welfare is assured. You may

have plenty of wealth. Others may not have such wealth. Whatever you do not possess,

others may have that. Because of this factor there exists an equation between people.

Somebody may come to you seeking alms, clothing or a place to stay. Only because of past

karmic connections between people, such requests are sought. If you have the inclination to

help those who come to you with such requests then you may render such service. Otherwise

speak with humility and softness and allow them to go away. That is the only action you may

do and not cause any hurt to such people. Your harsh words will render more pain than their

wants. If somebody keeps hurting others then I am pained by such actions. Such angry words

would tear away My heart. Your sweet and soft words give Me lot of happiness. This is

required if you want Me to be happy.

SAYING FIFTY

I don’t understand why people have the attitude of superiority over others. It is not

appropriate to assume that possession of wealth causes this attitude. Wealth may come and

go. It is wrong to even believe that it is due to reasons of birth in a particular community.

Whatever community one belongs to, the physiological factors of blood, mucous and the like

are identical. The food is similar too. That this superiority complex is due to ignorance may

perhaps be a more appropriate reasoning. Both the rich and poor meet their end at some point

of time. The joy of reaching the state beyond death is also the same for anyone. The body is

like a bubble. During the life cycle, each person may have different ways of life but in death

everything is equalized. The God who supports as well as tests is common to one and all. It is

absolute ignorance to be happy by considering the period between life and death. Life is like

twigs of different sizes and shapes and they get burnt to ashes at the end of the cycle. In spite

of this phenomenon, it is indeed strange that people have got a different attitude towards life.

If you think calmly, won’t you understand the true meaning of My sayings? A different

perception than what I preach will result only in painful results.

SAYING FIFTY ONE

I will tell you a parable related to spirituality. There is no person in the world who has not

committed a mistake. To err is human. Such people who realize their mistakes and repent

will discard their sins and get salvation. I feel quite happy by seeing such people. I bestow

additional blessings to them. If a shepherd has a hundred sheep and one of them strays away,

then he gets concerned for that particular lost sheep. He will search for that sheep and will

feel happy only when it is found and joins the rest. Thus I am not unduly concerned about

those who are in the spiritual path. But I am worried about those who deviate away from the

moral code of living. I always make sustained efforts to bring back such people on to the path

of righteous living. I will keep relentlessly making all attempts for their proper way of living.

My anxiety is only about such people. If such people who traverse on the devious path

understand my anxiety for them, then I consider that I have succeeded in My efforts towards

them. I bring those individuals and drag them to this Mother living in this Masjid just like

pulling sparrows with a thread tied to their feet.

SAYING FIFTY TWO

I will give some important information that will result in useful and sacred results. I keep

advising people to recite Lord’s Name incessantly. If you recite the Lord’s name

continuously then there is no time for unwanted gossip which gives negative results. By

recitation, the mind becomes purified. The Lord resides within you. If the mind is spoilt and

weak, there is no place for Divinity. Some people keep blaming God. They keep talking

derisively of God. But God will not react to such behavior. This is because God does not

reside in isolation. The Lord resides within the mind and heart of the devotee. True devotees

are all forms of the same God. If anybody speaks ill of the devotee then the Almighty will

not be just watching. He will then correct the person by proper punishment. Therefore

wherever the devotees are respected and honored, God will be present there. Wherever the

devotee resides, that place becomes holy. God is the servant of a true devotee. The devotee

keeps singing the praise of Lord. Thus the true existence of God is made known to the entire

world. The true devotee is the ambassador of the Great God.

SAYING FIFTY THREE

While one is offering a bunch of fragrant flowers to the Almighty, one stale flower could

spoil the whole bunch making them emanate foul odor. Thus all the flowers get wasted.

Similarly some devotees start journeying towards Me to have Dharshan and to get their sins

washed away. En route some person gossip with these devotees indicating that there is

nothing important in Shirdi excepting that a poor beggar sitting in dilapidated Mosque

demanding offerings. The devotees are also told that nobody knows whether He is a Hindu or

a Muslim and that there is no use seeing him. The minds of those faithful devotees get

disturbed with doubts and they change their intentions. Thus such people continue the cause

and consequence of Karma. Those people who come to have My dharshan must come to Me

directly. They must see for themselves the ground reality in My place. Then, they must

decide further course of action. They should not discard their good fortune by listening to

others. Each person has his own mental attitude. Wherever your mind gets solace, there you

can be sure of the presence of Divinity. Realizing this percept and thus following the correct

path will be beneficial to the individual.

SAYING FIFTY FOUR

Man does not have a firm conviction about the concept of joy and sorrow. What I say is true.

I will not speak falsehood sitting in this Masjid. When man is enjoying comforts there will be

no thought about the law of cause and consequence nor about God. He will imagine that

because of good luck or due to his own efforts, he has derived all the comforts. In distress,

the same person will start lamenting about his sinful deeds and the wrath of God is incurred.

Believe what I say. In the matter of one’s joy and sorrow there is no involvement of God or

any other Powers. God is a witness to all happenings. He is also the witness for all the deeds

done by anybody in their previous lives. Depending on the past karma, man receives the

fruits of his actions. Man himself germinates the effects of joy and sorrow based on his past

deeds done in previous lives. It is not wise to cast responsibility on anybody else for one’s

own deeds. It only shows ignorance. There is no involvement of God in the happiness of a

person. While a person in distress he gets forbearance from God intuitively. The Lord is all

merciful. Do not forget this truth.

SAYING FIFTY FIVE

There are several ways to reach and realize God. To follow disciplines espoused in Vedas,

Shastras, study of such scriptures, reciting God’s name, meditation, penance and many other

such good deeds are available for anybody to pursue. People pray to me seeking a simpler

way to reach God even though there are several methods such as the ones mentioned above.

Set aside My blessings for those who seek a solution from Me. Think about your contribution

to all those benefits you enjoy, which are provided by God, such as clean air to breath, water,

fire, the sun and the moon. Whoever respects the creation of God and abides by the principles

of natural laws, will have His blessings. Creation is represented by the existence of all

species including the society of human beings. You do not think of them in the least, nor do

you feel for them. To help them, you may not provide them any money, but at least console

them with soothing words and encourage them with the confidence of your support. Your

feeling of support to other beings will be taken as worship to Me. If this simple effort cannot

be extended by you; what else can I do for you?

SAYING FIFTY SIX

If a hungry person stands at the gate of your house seeking alms, remember that he has come

to honor you with an opportunity to serve you. Do not think that such opportunities will keep

repeating. Do not feel disgusted that a beggar is approaching you for money or for food.

Even if you externally perceive the same as beggary, you do not realize that he is taking over

your sanchita karma. Those who are hungry do not have any form for their hunger. He only

has suffering. I am that form of hunger. In fact I am the root cause of the hunger itself. I do

not accept anything with the intention of getting any favor in return. All My actions are

centered towards rendering service to humanity. When I provide you an opportunity such as

the above, at your doorstep to wash away your sins do not dwell on the greed of wealth,

property and such worldly matters. This will ensure that My help is not denied to you. If you

give a morsel of food, your wealth will not be diminished. Similarly, love and sympathy

shown towards other forms of life will also reach Me. I am bound by such pure Love. This is

the simplest path to reach Me. Believe Me.

SAYING FIFTY SEVEN

It is impossible to explain our mutual bond carried through several births. I am a Mendicant

and do not have a family, dwelling and other such worldly attachments. I forget myself in

eternal bliss. Even at that highest plane of existence, I do not forget My devotees. My

thoughts are towards your careful approach. Even if you are far away I am always near and

dear to you. I am aware of all your actions. When the effect of your karmic action engulfs

you with tremendous force, you forget all your attachments and wander away. I am the boat

to help you cross the ocean of samsara. I am also the person who maneuvers the boat. Like

the rudder in the hands of the boatman, the effect of your karmic seeds is in My hands. You

should make effort to get into the boat. If you keep moving away, then the boat will not come

to you. Surrender to Me whatever are your needs and accomplishments. I am your well

wisher. You alone are My target. Set your mind towards Me and do all your acts with ease.

Then I carry your burden.

SAYING FIFTY EIGHT

One day I ventured out for a stroll after having some food. I continued to walk a good

distance. It was noon time with scorching heat. I went near a riverside tree to take rest under

the shadow. I cleaned the hookah. At that time a traveler reached the riverside. On seeing Me

he came near, humbly offered his respects and sat near Me. We talked various matters and

continued to sit there. Thus it became meal time. I did not feel hungry. The person requested

Me to come to his residence to have some bread and only then leave. He pleaded with

affection and friendliness mentioning that since his house is nearby and that My dwelling

place is far off, it would take more time to reach there, so I could have some food and then

leave. I felt truly overjoyed at his gesture. He was not even aware of My divinity. I was

bound by his true love. I went behind him to his house, ate the bread offered by him and then

returned to My place. Wherever there is true love and divine attachment, I will be present.

What else can I expect from you?

SAYING FIFTY NINE

People get disheartened for anything and everything. They do not get satisfied with what they

get. I feel like laughing by looking at them. I feel sorry for them. I keep telling them that we

are destined to get only what God has decided to provide. But people do not believe what I

say. If there is small hole in a pot, even if it is full of water, it will get drained off. That small

hole will not be visible to our eyes. Similarly wealth accumulates stealthily without

announcement. The same wealth will also be lost like a small fruit swallowed by an elephant.

That being the reality, why should we get worried? Is it not truly worthless to get worried

unnecessarily? If someone’s concern is towards realizing spirituality, then such people will

come closer to Me automatically. I also become closer to them effortlessly. Each of us

reaches the other unknowingly. Even if we nourish the roots of the coconut tree with dirty

water, the water in the coconut is sweet. Similarly the mere genuine desire to get into the

spiritual path makes such individuals reach Me effortlessly.

SAYING SIXTY

This Mosque and Dwarakamayi are like your Mother. There is tremendous love, mercy,

sympathy, righteousness, philanthropy, peace and other such noble qualities embedded in

each brick of this building. Everything here longs to provide service to others. The beauty is

that there is no duality of ‘me and others’ as everything is unified. Allah will await for people

to come here. The people who come here whether they are good or bad, Allah wants Me to

pray for the peace of mind of people who come here, whether they are good or bad. I am

Allah’s servant. I will implement His command with out any delay. I also await His

command. I have a long lasting spiritual relationship with Allah. Even for a single day He

doesn’t rest without providing succor and support to the needy. Therefore we call this

Dwarakamaayi our Mother. You also come with that faith. Seek the shadow of that Divine

Mother.

SAYING SIXTY ONE

You may have doubts about Allah and His ways and also about Me. However much you speak about

Allah, such talk will always will be short of His Glory. He is beyond words. He is the repository of

Golden Silence. The Merciful Allah will always take care of the poor and humble. He reigns in the

entire space of this world and the limitless sky. He always protects us without a wink of an eye. His

eyes penetrate and see through water, air, fire, the luminosity of sun, moon and darkness. Without

any movement He will know everything that is happening in the very split of a second. That is the

most merciful Allah. Since I always contemplate on Him, and I have completely surrendered to Him,

and I attained limitless power. Allah keeps looking at me and I keep looking at Allah. Similar to this

kind of bondage if you also develop a pure divine link with Me, you will easily become a part of Me.

Start this effort right now. I am always there for you.

SAYING SIXTY TWO

I keep the food collected by seeking alms in the corner of the Masjid. I will subsequently forget

about the food. I will not feel hungry. I will get into a meditative mood while keeping My one hand

on a brick. People will come and go by. Let us leave this aside. Sometimes I feel the pangs of hunger

and I go near the earthen pot where I had kept some food. I then notice some ants had crept there

carrying the food away. By looking at their efforts, I get happy and I forget My hunger. My hunger

will vanish away. I have bountiful spiritual wisdom which is kept open for all people to seek and

collect. Those who come to the Masjid meet me and ask for all sorts of temporal favors but not the

wealth of spirituality. If people have the ardent desire for spiritual growth like the enthusiasm of the

ants for food then My job will be done. I am waiting for such a good day.

SAYING SIXTY THREE

When a child speaks in an unintelligible language, the Mother also responds in the same vein. The

mother can of course talk properly. A kind of loving attachment is built in the mind of the mother

towards the child. She will not feel happy if she does not speak in such a language. The mother will

provide her child various items of make up and jewellery and relish by looking at her efforts. She

will be watchful to ensure that she does not destroy the make up. I also tell parables to those who

come to Me seeking peace of mind. I do miracles for them. I keenly observe whether they listen to

Me carefully or whether they keep repeating their problems. It is a pleasure to Me. This kind of

happiness is similar to that of the Mother’s personal joy. Learned scholars, philosophers and pundits

believe that I am an ignorant person. When these people come and surrender to Me, their ignorance

gets dissolved and they acquire true knowledge. When such people inlay such knowledge within

themselves, My joy knows no bounds and they truly merge in Me. It is My duty to ensure that their

Bliss is unalloyed by this material world.

SAYING SIXTY FOUR

However much one extols the greatness of satsang it will fall short of its bounty. The effect equal to

the preaching of 100 Masters could be realized by the satsang with the Guru. The satsang removes

all mental dirt. Expansion of mind takes place. The true value of spirituality and of several facets and

subtle values of Divinity could be better understood through satsang. Rare is the birth as a human

being as also that of participation in satsang. To deeply study and thoroughly assimilate the essence

of Vedas and Sastras is not easy for everybody. Even a peripheral understanding of these texts is not

possible for ordinary mortals. However such valuable truths could be better understood through

satsang. Satsang is equivalent to scriptures in oral communication. Wherever there is satsang, the

Lord will be present there. You may find people capable of speaking on many subjects. But rare is

the person who speaks about value based subjects. If you speak about My leelas during your satsang

then I get true happiness.

SAYING SIXTY FIVE

If you add one to one then you get two. This is wholly true and there is no place for argument

on the same. Although this theory is true in the physical world, in the spiritual sense it is

incorrect. Set aside the belief that you and I are different. I am within you and you are within

Me. I reckon your physical and other needs and fulfill them. You don’t forget the truth that a

child in the womb of a mother gets nourished by her. In fact the mother does not take extra

efforts to feed the growing child inside her womb. The mother takes food to satisfy her

hunger which also reaches the child within her. Similarly always try to realize that I am

within you. Do not forget My existence inside your very being. Also never forget that I am

always with you. Can I ever eat without satisfying your hunger? All your external worship

reaches Me within yourself. Then I get strengthened and protect you. If you are unable to do

even this much then how can I Help you? Your soulful worship of Me alone is true worship.

This is the truth.

SAYING SIXTY SIX

In the Himalayas, the sandalwood trees grow with large branches. They spread fragrance all

around the atmosphere thus enabling a pleasant ambience. True Brahmins and devotees take

pains to grind sandalwood paste for offering to the Lord. Their piety and noble qualities

enable them to conduct this act. They have pious past karmas with them. Those who are

living in the forest use the same sandalwood as fuel for cooking their food. Similarly, for

those people who are living with ascetics and holy souls, but finding faults with them setting

aside their spiritual advices, will not be of any help to obtain progress for themselves. To get

the company of holy personnel is very rare indeed. Being born as a human being is still rare.

Thus people who do not want to have spiritual progress even amongst the company of Holy

people will not get any support from any invisible Divine Force. Do not be antagonistic

towards those who desire your welfare, thus wasting your precious human birth.

SAYING SIXTY SEVEN

Those who are able to break the shackles of Maya get released from bondage and attain

liberation. Maya and desires are stumbling blocks to liberation. From Hiranyagarbha, is born

this entire universe. People often ask how to get over Maya. Satguru is the only source of

solace to overcome Maya. Even the scriptures are unable to fathom the qualities of Satguru.

To get the blessings of the Satguru, arguments and smartness will not help. Only through

Satguru, self realization takes place within an individual. One should totally surrender

including five pranas to the Lotus Feet of the Satguru. We should bow before the Satguru.

We should always meditate on the Satguru. One should surrender to God completely- the

body, mind and self. The entire life must be dedicated to the service of the Satguru.

Only through sustained efforts company of the Guru, his blessings, the opportunity to live

with him, the blessings of his Lotus feet and his advice on the appropriate mantra for

liberation can be obtained. All of them have tremendous potency. If one sincerely follows all

of the above sincerely, then the grace of the Guru will be definitely available. My support

will always be available for such people.

SAYING SIXTY EIGHT

Divine Bliss and Divine realization are great ideas but not accessible for ordinary mortals. One

should be clear as to what is best for him. What we really need is the state of Divine Bliss. In that

state everything is centered around oneness with the Self. If the mind and intellect dwell on this state

of bliss then one will experience eternal peace and happiness. But one may wonder as to the method

of attaining such divine bliss. Whoever surrenders to Me unconditionally with pure love and those

who truly long for me and depend on Me completely, to them I ensure that no sorrows and

calamities occur. I always strive for their welfare. I always help them to attain happiness. Under such

a blissful situation, the external material world will not exist. To them, only I exist and nothing else.

Such a situation becomes second nature. Always strive to reach this goal.

SAYING SIXTY NINE

To obtain divinity, the path of devotion is the most ideal to pursue and simple to follow. God is

easily accessible to

His devotees. Believe Me; it is easier to develop devotion by idol worship. An opportunity is also

made available to retain the form of the Lord. Those who meditate on Me deeply and retain My

Form in their minds are indeed fortunate. Those who extol My virtues, qualities and My leelas

incessantly like a bee always hovering around the lotus flower will develop true devotion to God.

Thus a spiritual link is established between Myself and such people. Those who serve Me sincerely

will be led by Me towards spiritual path. Those who want to progress towards God must realize this

and follow and adopt the tenets specified in the scriptures. While following these rules and

regulations, they must have their mind free from seeking sensual and material pleasures That is the

true state without ego. That is what is considered as a true offering to the Divine Brahman. One gets

various yogic attainments. When one performs his duties with detachment then all actions will

automatically be attributed to Me. By following this method one can reach Me.

SAYING SEVENTY

It is natural to get a doubt as to why one should carry out the duties enjoined in the scriptures. One

may often wonder as to why we should lose our liberty by undertaking others’ burden. By following

the scriptures we should carry out all the duties, with the firm faith that whatever joys and sorrows

we go through are due to our past karma. We should have faith that the Guru’s Mercy is Lord’s

Mercy. Listen to Me patiently. Only to get liberated from the cycle of cause and consequence, the

Lord has given this rare opportunity of human life. Thus when human beings observe the karmic

way of life then the Almighty liberates the souls based on the principles of Dharma. Do not forget

God is ultimate in deciding everything in one’s life. Like a thorn stuck on the body is removed by

the use of another thorn, the effect of our actions is neutralized only by other actions. Thus if

anybody follows the path of duty without expecting any result then it is called Nishkama Karma.

This is the secret of karma. If one carries out ones duties with detachment and sacrifice then such

acts become pure and sanctified. Each one has to follow his own dharma. That is inevitable.

Whatever one does on his own should be offered to the Lord. One should not forget the Almighty

even for a moment. Without God’s blessings, any work becomes useless.

SAYING SEVENTY ONE

I will give you a simple solution to all your problems and listen to that carefully. I will provide you

with a simple solution to prevent rebirth and to attain liberation. I have taken this incarnation only to

help duty bound people realize salvation. I take efforts day and night for their welfare. I do not

expect anything from them. I am keen that such individuals realize God during this very birth of

Mine. Those who are truly interested in My parables, to them these stories will not appear as

amazing, imaginary or strange. The life of those who remember and value My miraculous actions

will be sacred. My miracles are directives and pathways for My devotees. Their sins will be washed

out by listening to My stories and parables. Whenever their minds are weak, by listening to My

stories such weaknesses melt away in a trice. The heart becomes pure. Such pure heart seeks Me. My

place is in your heart. I help you to cross the ocean of birth and death.

SAYING SEVENTY TWO

Do not develop the attitude that you are doing great service to mankind. It is Me who gives you the

opportunity to serve others. This is possible only if you are destined to have the same. Consider it as

a great fortune if you are able to serve those who are treading the path of realization. Such people are

in fact God’s reflection. Those who are involved in service are just instruments. Truly the spiritual

aspirants inspire you into service. Those who are foolhardy and ignorant can not grasp such

inspiration. God will be immanent where such aspirants exist. The sacred places and the resultant

sacred values will get invoked by the mere presence of such spiritual aspirants. Do not forget that

they are God in human form. These spiritually evolved souls by merely blessing any person with a

touch of the hand can raise him to realize God. To help ordinary mortals reach the ultimate spiritual

level, these evolved souls provide this rare opportunity of service to others. People with such

opportunity will have the doors to the path of realization opened. Please remember that service to

humanity is like a stream leading to the ocean of eternal bliss.

SAYING SEVENTY THREE

Evil and wicked thoughts result in multiple problems. The body therefore becomes decrepit

and weak. At that time if one wants to carry out noble actions it will not be possible. In that

helpless situation who will be your supporter? When there is physical weakness even the

tiger will remain inactive. Such people will remember the past and keep grumbling about

their helplessness. Then misery overtakes them. Thus their entire life becomes a waste. The

person is reborn. In this cycle of birth and death where is the eternal peace? By utilizing this

body for noble causes one can over come this cycle of sufferings. Such a person is free from

the bondage of joys and sorrows. Even if the droppings of the crow fall on the elephant there

is no loss to the animal. The value of the elephant will remain unaffected. Those who are in

constant communion with God are very fortunate indeed.

SAYING SEVENTY FOUR

Please keep mulling over My truth laden stories and experiences. If you have earnest desire

then My help will always be available. Wherever you are, keep meditating on Me. I will

ensure successful completion of all your duties and actions. I will take more initiative than

you do to ensure success in all your endeavors. Even if you are not attentive to your duties, I

will be conscious of them. I will be bound by the true devotion of My devotees. I will not be

available for those who are not having such true love and devotion. I never like egoistic

people. Even if you have an iota of ego, I will not tolerate the same. Whatever good and bad

happens to you I take them on to Me. If you meditate on Me then such a situation will

become natural to you. Then you will always be with Me. Ants will be attracted towards

sugar candy. Even if the sugar candy is removed from that place, the ants will keep

converging towards that place. Similarly by meditating on Me you will always be within My

heart.

SAYING SEVENTY FIVE

There is no place in this world with peace and calmness. You wander around in search of

peace and become more restless. The faster I come to reach you, the faster you move away

from Me. If a person is unsteady even for a moment, then how can I help him? Whatever

restlessness you have, is only linked to your physical existence. As long as you are dependent

on the physical world you will be bound by the inevitable joys and sorrows thereof. Nobody

can avoid this situation. The larva becomes a beautiful butterfly by constant and intensive

focus. The dirty larva turns into a lovely butterfly spreading happiness. Those who are able to

discriminate between good and bad will not be affected by the changing situation of joys and

sorrows. I am always with you. Transfer your burden to Me. With a clean heart, comfortably

look inwards towards Me. Meditate on Me intensely. I will certainly give you peace and

solace. Then firmly establish yourself in that blissful situation.

SAYING SEVENTY SIX

The ways of the Lord can not be understood by humans. Only the Lord Hari knows them.

Even the shruti, smruti and the Vedas can not fathom the Lord. Nobody can understand the

depth of the Lord’s will. Do not consider those who read scriptures, those who expound them

and discuss them as the authority on the Ultimate. For the true devotees, the Lord Hari

Himself is a miracle. The Lord longs for the innocent and pious devotees. He is bound by

their Love. But the Lord will not be accessible to fake and egoistic people. Do not give

importance to trivial aspects such as when and how to do worship and the like. I am present

where the pure mind longs for Me. Your true devotion and longing for Me is the true

worship. I dwell in the place where My devotees are present. Wherever My true and loving

devotees are present those become places of worship such as Masjid, Chavadi,

Dwarakamayi, My Dhuni and Shirdi. These are My temples of Rest.

SAYING SEVENTY SEVEN

Travelers who tread the path of those who had passed through the same route have a safe and

comfortable journey. They will be able to reach their destination quickly. They will not face any

hurdles. If you take an unknown route and try to follow it then there may be delays. Those who want

to achieve the ultimate divinity need not follow the path of hatha yoga, yoga mudras and stay at

tapovans. Keeping the mind sturdy in itself is Yoga. To long for the Lord is penance. If desires and

demands keep growing in the mind like wild plants how can God come to the individual? If the mind

is free from demands that in itself is a boon. Recitation of My name continuously is the right

solution to problems. Whenever and wherever you recite My Name, I am there. Recitation removes

all mental dirt. The soul gets cleansed of such vasanas. The soul gets strengthened spiritually. There

are very many people who have been blessed with divinity through recitation of the Lord’s name.

Believe in My words.

SAYING SEVENTY EIGHT

Unwanted thoughts, despicable ideas and other stumbling blocks crop up in the beginning of’

sadhana; similar to that of a fly falling in the food of a person when he takes his first morsel.

Therefore those who choose the spiritual path to cross the ocean of worldliness will have

such challenges to be faced and won. Such challenges are also part of the cluster of karmas.

Therefore you do not have to take a different path to realize God. Leave such things to the

natural course of events. The elephant will not stop walking because the ants beneath it’s legs

get killed. Similarly those who tread the spiritual path seeking Divinity will also have similar

impediments. Whoever overcomes such resistance to progress are lucky and blessed. Keep

your mind faithfully and firmly on My lotus Feet. Don’t waver. If you have undoubted faith

in Me I will ensure your success in your path to divinity. I give you that strength. If you

firmly believe that you want to reach the pinnacle of spirituality, I will ensure that you

succeed. I will extend all My help to achieve success. Let your aim be to reach Me. Then I

will be yours and you will be Mine.

SAYING SEVENTY NINE

Attachment to the body and worldly affairs, desires in family life alone and other such bondage are

attributes that block the progress to spiritual path. This is because God is beyond the feelings of love

and hatred. He does not have any demands. God is interested only in the welfare of this universe.

Therefore those who desire spirituality need to be detached from worldly matters. You may have a

doubt whether those who are immersed in worldly matters can have absolute detachment. No

scripture command you to discard the bodily needs. No master will ever suggest the same. But do

not undertake any work with desire and attachment for bodily pleasures. If you are confronted with

such a situation then surrender the problem to Me. My sanctity will ensure that no worldly desire

engulfs your mind. Over a period of time your mind gets trained to seek Me, get satisfied by My

darshan and qualities associated with Me. Thus the mind develops detachment. Such detachment

gives bliss. Even if this effort is difficult, those who are spiritually attached to Me will achieve the

same with ease.

SAYING EIGHTY

By nature people would like to have heavenly enjoyment. Truly what pleasure is there in heaven?

There is a living without sorrow. There is everything for enjoyment. There will be only comfort in

heaven. But heavenly life is not permanent. The life in heaven acquired through actions will get

spent by the very action of living in heaven. When the time has come upon nullification of good

karmic effects, one can not escape but exit from the heaven. The individual will be removed from

the heaven that very moment of exhausting of good effects of karma. The individual soul needs to

merge with the infinite. There is no cycle of birth and death in that final merge. There is no rebirth.

That is true liberation. Only by intense efforts one attains liberation. For this the human body is

essential. There is no better vehicle to reach that destination. If a person incessantly devotes himself

to the service towards divinity, recites His Name continuously with the sole aim of reaching God, for

such a person the doors of Liberation will always be open. Whether they are in family life or are

ascetics, the situation will remain same. If the vision of realizing liberty is firmly entrenched in one’s

mind then the same will be achieved without any second thought. Thus by realizing the value of the

human body one should conduct himself appropriately to realize God.

SAYING EIGHTY ONE

Nothing is more valuable in this world than the love of one’s parents. Nobody can value that

love. More valuable is the mother’s love. One may even cross the ocean but the love of the

mother can not be fathomed. By offering prayers, taking bath in holy rivers and visiting holy

places, one should not assume that he becomes eligible for divine grace. Such individuals

keep wailing that they have not received the grace of God. They are blind to reality. The

parents are the visible forms of God. There is no greater divinity than parents. One cannot get

a better form of divinity than the parents. By giving the body, the parents have done a great

service to the individual. Thus one gets an opportunity to perform service to the Guru and

God. Therefore, God will not be happy if parents are unhappy due to the actions of their

ward.

SAYING EIGHT TWO

How can you merge in Me totally? You may have a doubt as to how to reach that state. I will

dwell on this subject, please listen to Me carefully. Those who are in tune with Me will

convert every opportunity to be in tune with Me wherever they are. Such individuals will

speak about Me alone. They will utter only My sayings. They will always talk about My

noble deeds and lofty ideals. This is because they will only think of Me incessantly. For such

persons only My form will be visible. The connection between Me and such people is the

bondage between a soul and God. They will be intrinsically saturated in Me like sweetness in

sugar, water in clouds and the salt in sea water. Those who understand this principle and

practice the same will always remain within Me. At the end of their lives they will reach Me.

SAYING EIGHT THREE

Whether perceived or latent, Maya is part of the Infinite Lord. Therefore even Maya is one aspect of

the Lord. Maya is not outside the ambience of the Lord. From Thamas, the inactive state, Maya

created inanimate, lifeless forms and objects. This is the first and foremost form of creation. The

eternal Brahman then created the cosmos through the active Rajo Guna. Then the Satva Guna

created the intellectual aspect. Thus the Satva Guna merged with the Creator to bring final and

complete evolution. Maya is mind based. As long as there is no creation out of Maya, the three

aspects of Thamas, Rajo and Satva will not complete the creation. Thus the three gunas will remain

dormant. Till such time Maya will not become visible in any form. The eternal Brahman created this

Maya. All activities of Maya will remain within the ambit of Brahman. The eluding Maya will

vanish by reciting My name and such other activities linked with Me. Only then can you understand

Me clearly.

SAYING EIGHTY FOUR

As long as you follow the path of Dharma I will be always with you. I thus provide you a

true and ultimate experience. However, you may have a doubt as to the right Dharmic way.

Please hear Me with rapt attention. Whatever suffering and troubles you have faced, leave

that aside. Any troubles that arise for anybody, try to extend your help to them. In case you

are not able to help such people at least genuinely feel for them. Do not deride them. Do not

feel happy at their sufferings. An opportunity to help somebody in itself is Dharmic destiny.

If you do not have the attitude to help then you are not following the Dharmic way of life.

You get pain when have un-satiated hunger. Similarly, for others, hunger is also equally

painful. Try to minimize others’ hunger at least a little bit. At least provide them a morsel of

food. At least provide them some water to drink. If you carry out such merciful acts I will be

ever with you.

SAYING EIGHTY FIVE

If you make delicious food and keep it in front of Me you believe that you have completed your

offering to Baba. But I will not be pleased with such action. I am not a party to this rigmarole.

Whatever you have offered to Me must be given partly to other living beings, the poor and the needy

and My devotees before you eat them. Just try this out and feel your happiness and satisfaction.

Wherever there are poor and needy people, I will be present there You will then certainly have the

experience of My presence. If you have the earnest desire to help others I will somehow ensure that

you carry out the same. If you think that you are alone the doer of this charity work, then I do not

have a place there. By helping the poor and the needy alone can you reach Me. Food is My form.

Ensure that the food reaches those who are in need of the same. That will make Me happy.

SAYING EIGHTY SIX

Before having My darshan and worshiping Me, people come with the intent of getting temporal

benefits. They worship in that frame of mind. As far as they are concerned such a request is fair. I

am here to help you achieve your desires. There is no doubt about that. When such prayers are made

for material benefits, the noble needs are hidden away. But I cannot escape from following Dharma.

Think about this. If a boy always wants to eat sugar candy, will his mother give it to him every time?

She will conceal the sugar candy and keep it away from the eyes of the boy. She will give the boy

advice and tells him good stories, thus diverting his interest. I am also like this mother even when

your wants are not fulfilled. The mother sings lullabies and feeds the boy. I am also like that. If you

understand this concept, your faith in Me will not diminish. What other work will I have when My

very existence is for the good of you all? Ruminate about this quietly.

SAYING EIGHT SEVEN

There will not be any dearth of food and clothing in the house of My true devotees. They will get

their genuine needs fulfilled with my blessings. This is My promise. All you have to do is one thing.

In my temple, seek your wishes with dignity. Long for My blessings. Do not be greedy for material

pleasures. Do not be eager for appreciation in the material world. Be sure that your beloved Lord is

truly merciful towards you. Let your body be drenched with the Mercy of God. Let your goal be the

love for God. Let all your senses be intoxicated with devotion for Him. The sensual feelings will

then be converted to devotional fervor. Then you will be blissfully happy. Always pray God. Do not

allow your mind to wander. Let your mind be saturated with My name. Switch off your mind from

everything else. Then the mind will be away from all desires and get submerged in total bliss. The

mind will become calm and peaceful. Thus the mind will realize Me. How can a wandering mind

reach Me? If you have a firm mind with faith in Me then My blessings will always be with you.

SAYING EIGHTY EIGHT

Let us say that when you go out on some important work, somebody meets you on the way. He may

talk to you encouragingly and enquire about your welfare. He would also ask you as to why you

have undertaken the trip. He may offer food with love. If you come across such a person do not

refuse the food that he gives. Those who partake food from such loving people indeed represent

Lord Vishnu. When you are struggling for a genuine cause, I will be present there. I am not limited

to any form and name. Thus, whoever genuinely showers their Love is My embodiment, is really

lucky. Do not be under the delusion that I have a specific form. I am immanent in all living beings.

From Brahma to every form in existence is My form. If you understand the truth I will not be latent.

When that happens, there will be no real distance between us.

SAYING EIGHTY NINE

Every day the sun rises and then the night follows. The time keeps rolling by years. Half the life is

lost in sleep. The remaining period of life also does not give peace of mind. Adolescence is lost

playing around. Youth is spent in sensual enjoyments. At old age, diseases overcome a person. If the

human birth is meant to get a robust body and plunge in physical pleasures, then there is no

difference between humans and animals. There is a better destiny meant for human beings. To be a

self realized soul is possible only for humans. The human body is meant to get out of the very

bondage of the cycle of life and death. If life is spent causing rebirth then how could one reach self

realization? For true wisdom, self realization must be the goal. Rest is all a waste of time. Time is

precious. Utilizing this valuable time for acquiring spiritual wisdom and going in search of Truth is

the essence of life.

SAYING NINETY

Getting excited by appreciating the body which will be decayed through time is indeed ignorance.

What really is there to appreciate in a body full of nauseating materials such as excreta, urine,

phlegm, foul gases, bacteria and such other despicable elements? This body in itself is not a sacred

entity. It will get destroyed in a trice and will become fuel to fire. But to reach the most sacred Lord,

this body is required. It is absolute ignorance to indulge in useless activities and waste the body.

Even while being aware of people leaving the world ahead of us, believing that we will remain in

this world is truly the creation of Maya. In the fleeting period of human existence listening to the

wonderful stories of the great souls, singing the praise of Lord and carrying out such other glorious

acts will earn the grace of the Lord. Such people who will use their body for noble causes are indeed

very wise.

SAYING NINETY ONE

Those who want to overcome Maya must have spiritual knowledge. Life without acquiring such

knowledge is a waste. The understanding that the individual soul and the eternal consciousness are

same is known as knowledge of duality. The Upanishads call this as Brahma Gyan. This is also

known as worship of one God. This is the meaning of the Lord of the devotees. Those who have the

knowledge that Guru and Brahma are the same will pursue spirituality with this firm understanding.

Then they get out of the shackles of Maya. Only those who strive sincerely and possess the right

knowledge alone are eligible to experience self realization. Such devotees are indeed fortunate.

Without realizing oneself, if a person believes that he has reached the ultimate in spirituality, then

that is ignorance. This will become an impediment to spiritual progress. In such effort the feeling of

sense must be fully burnt like oil in a lamp. The darkness of ignorance must be reduced to ashes. The

wick of ego must be totally burnt away. If people with such enriched knowledge come to Me, they

will get My full support in their entire endeavor. Whenever such individuals come to Me, I will

consider that day as the most auspicious.

SAYING NINETY TWO

There are two methods in the process to reach divinity. One is called Marjala Nyaya and the other is

known as Markata Nyaya. The Markatam, which is a monkey, holds its mother tight and the mother

monkey keeps hopping from one place to another place. Thus the child monkey keeps traveling

along with the mother. However, there is a danger of the child monkey letting go of the mother. But

in Marjala Method, the cat holds the kitten in its mouth and travels. In this method there is no danger

of the kitten losing grip. If you surrender to Me totally, I will follow this path. Wherever my true

devotees are, My protective observation will always be with them. Wherever My devotees travel, I

am always with them to protect them. I protect them like eyelids protecting the eyes. Like the cat

often goes to the kitten to feed them, I am always around every moment watchfully protecting them.

Wherever they go I am ahead of them, ready to provide safety to their astonishment.

SAYING NINETY THREE

Whether Formless worship or worship of Form is better is a general query. In fact both are equally

good. Any worship done with concentration will give good results. Those who are involved in

Formless worship must have a stable mind with concentration. The mind should not wander and

succumb to desires. When the mind keeps wavering, by looking and concentrating on the Form of

the Lord, one can stabilize the mind. The mind will get satisfied and also get peace and joy. We can

offer sandal paste, flowers and other such items and feel happy about our devotional efforts. To get

true devotion one must get into worship of the form. Without genuine devotion, the mind will not

blossom into spirituality. Fragrance will emanate only when the flower blossoms. Unblossomed

flower will have no pollen. Bees will not be attracted without pollen. Even if you conduct worship

but not have control of mind, no true progress could be achieved. God desires a steady mind. If the

mind is steady and focused one does not need any other discipline to realize God.

SAYING NINETY FOUR

Some people call Me a mendicant. Others call Me a beggar. Others still call me mad. Similarly,

people also call Me an evolved soul, an erudite scholar and even an incarnation of God. I am not

concerned what others think about Me. Nor am I desirous to know. Their outlook depends on their

mental attitude. Unless you have done some good deeds in any of your previous births it is not

possible to enter My Masjid. Once people step into the Masjid, their karmic seeds vanish away. I get

happiness with such people. When the demon Hiranyakasibhu kicked the pillar with his legs, the

Lord Narasimha came out and appeared before him to liberate him. God does not have different

standards and other duties than to help humans reach Him. Those who understand this truth get

realization.

SAYING NINETY FIVE

There are several great souls who are truly devoted and realize God. People of this world will always

remember them. They will forever worship them and adopt the ways of these great personalities,

eager to reach the summit of spirituality. Such people are to be revered. There are some people who

have the opposite qualities. They will keep insulting God as a daily routine. The world hates such

people. God does not hate anybody. He does not have such qualities. People who insult God also

keep remembering God. That will suffice too. The very name of God is totally sacred irrespective of

whoever utters it. This is how great souls quench their thirst even as cows drink water from the same

Ganges on the other side of the river bank. Thus the Ganges provides the same water to quench the

thirst of animals as well as greatly evolved souls. Those who have spiritual wisdom will be able to

appreciate the greatness of the Lord and not others.

SAYING NINETY SIX

Mahatmas do not undergo the cycle of death. Although they are present in human form, please

understand that these Mahatmas are truly Divine Beings. In fact there is no living being without

death. The body has to find an end to life. That the body is destructible needs to be reminded

continuously. Body means death and consequently leaving the world. Whosoever meditates on Me,

worships Me incessantly, merge in Me when they leave the body. Such people remain in Me for

ever. I have no birth or death. I am present for ever. I exist before the birth of human beings, exist

even now and will remain in existence forever. Therefore, My devotees do not undergo the cycle of

birth and death. With the physical body as a vehicle, they realize God and then merge in Me. In My

presence there is no death and decay. There is only liberation.

SAYING NINETY SEVEN

Even though there is a nice path to travel, few people choose to tread on difficult terrain. They go

from one difficult track to yet another troublesome track. Instead of traveling on a wide comfortable

road, such people will go through a painful route and then reach their destination. It is unlikely they

will enjoy the travel. Similarly when there is an excellent way to realize God through devotion,

people undergo painful penance, fasting and such troublesome processes thereby subjecting

themselves and the inner Divinity to unwanted torture. What can we say of people who attempt to

pluck a fruit using a stick when the same is reachable by hand? Devotion is like fire. God is like

butter. When the fire of devotion engulfs butter-like God then the entire divinity melts. If the fire of

devotion is not there, the butter will remain as such. The fire causes the butter to have fragrant ghee.

Those who are always in the path of devotion will keep me close to themselves. They are indeed My

true friends.

SAYING NINETY EIGHT

All living things undergo suffering in some form or the other. There is no exception to this law. The

very law of karma is inexorable. Few people come to me seeking solace, cry to me saying that they

can not bear the suffering and sorrows and would like to depart this world and be reborn again to

undergo the balance suffering. By looking at them I am deeply disturbed. I am solely here to save

people. Why should they embrace death? The rope of karma is very strong indeed. It does not

discriminate between people. One has to work out karma; there is no other recourse. It is the

individual who accumulates karma and cries over the burden caused thereof. If you want to escape

from the effects of karma, keep reciting My name. Concentrate on me steadily. By reciting My name

the karma loses its significance. Those who constantly recite My name with concentration live like a

water droplet on a lotus petal, unaffected by karma.

SAYING NINETY NINE

Even if I am worshipped I may not be reachable by some people. They will not get the benefit of

worshipping Me. You do not have to strain your brains for knowing this. I will let you realize this.

The golden jewel has an ego that I am indeed a precious metal in the slightest corner of the form.

The goldsmith who is an artist puts the gold in furnace, melts and makes it pure. Similarly I will

know if they have greed, envy, hatred, untruth, ego and such other negative qualities in whatever

form of presence. These qualities are impediments to reach Me. Then how could I help them. Even

then I keep trying to help them. But they do not listen to Me. Those who desire to reach me must

cast away such qualities. They should change these traits themselves. The harvest will be good only

if the seed is good. Otherwise the efforts of the farmer will remain wasteful. Only those who are in

search of good will listen to me.

SAYING ONE HUNDRED

This limitless cosmos is an intelligent entity that nobody can fathom. We do not know what is good

and what is bad. Like sand and mud remain mixed with the Ganges river, the good and bad remain

together in this universe. Only the learned and wise can discriminate between them. We are not

aware path to reach God. Therefore we are not able to reach the goal. The world of drama is watched

by Lord. The struggle of beings in this world is being observed by Him. To enable His children to

reach their destiny He sends the great Gurus to them. We should thus belong to such Gurus. We

should surrender this body to Him. We must be eager only to serve Him. The great Guru helps His

disciples with unlimited grace; helps them cross the ocean of worldliness effortlessly. The great

Guru is an embodiment of God Himself.

SAYING ONE HUNDRED ONE

When we are in deep sleep, we get a dream. In that dream, large mansions, helpers, feast, food and

such other items are seen. We feel great happiness. We experience enjoying these good things.

Similarly we also get bad dreams. We feel that trees break and fall on us and that somebody is

torturing us. Then we perspire. When we come out of sleep we realize that both good and bad

dreams are false. In jagrata state we are ourselves. Under the influence of sleep the false looks real

and reality looks like a dream. Therefore when truth dawns on an individual one understands that the

entire cosmos is a dream. Then the longing of worldly attachment will not exist. Imagination and

fears connected with it will cease to exist. Whatever is truth will reveal itself. It then dawns that the

state of God is true Wisdom. Therefore it must be the aim of everybody to have true knowledge and

wisdom.

SAYING ONE HUNDRED TWO

All our scriptures proclaim that God is within us. If truly God is within us then why is He hidden and

latent? He could be visible externally also. Such a doubt would arise in the minds of people. In this

world, human beings as well as animals live. The only difference between man and animal is that

only the former has intelligence. Man uses the intelligence to dig into earth and obtain water to meet

his needs. This water is below the earth. Similarly human beings can realize God by looking

internally with intense devotion. He will be visible also to the devotee. God is not somewhere else.

God exists and is reflected in the form of billions of various living beings in this world. What has

been truly perceived and declared of His existence are scriptures.

SAYING ONE HUNDRED THREE

Religion, caste, creed and their tenets are ancient. They exist from time immemorial. They have been

defined well before many eons of time. Accordingly people follow the duties prescribed to them.

Whatever is good to the society that has been advised by any individual or mentioned in holy books

must be followed implicitly. The duties enjoined in scriptures must be followed diligently. That is

the proper path for individuals to follow. In order to perpetuate creation and to help individuals

realize God such duties have been spelt out clearly in the holy books. The creation itself is like a

huge tree. The faith of a particular religion, the division of communities, duties to be performed as

detailed in the holy books are similar to the branches of such a tree. Due to indifference or hatred if

such important branches of creation are cut off, the tree becomes weak. Then the tree itself is lost.

Therefore one should not discard his religion, duties or the community identified with the individual.

If equanimity prevails over these important parameters of creation then no harmful effects will take

place in society.

SAYING ONE HUNDRED FOUR

The enemies who cannot be destroyed by weapons are annihilated by adopting the tenets contained

in scriptures. The weapons demolish external enemies. This causes violence. The internal enemies of

man are removed by following the karmas enunciated in the scriptures. Thus goodness prevails.

Hatred, enmity and such negative qualities are internal enemies. These can not be destroyed by

weapons and machinery. By following what the scriptures prescribe for acquiring goodness, if you

continue to live along those principles no harm will occur. Through desire and enmity there will be

several negative consequences. Because of these, man is far removed from peace and becomes

restless. If you perform the duties mentioned in the scriptures, recapitulate My moral stories,

memorize the meaning behind My miracles and inwardly focus towards Me constantly, no untoward

happening will occur to you. I am always making sustained efforts to make you pure in mind,

thought and deed. Once you surrender to Me unconditionally, that very moment you will be engulfed

in boundless bliss.

SAYING ONE HUNDRED FIVE

There is a whopping difference between great men of nobility and ordinary human beings. Ordinary

human beings talk a lot and then forget what they have spoken. They will also not follow whatever

they have said. If we preach without following what we tell others to do then such talk has no

relevance. Then such communication becomes a mere gossip and nothing else. It is the easy to

advice others about moral values. Such people who only preach and not practice are like un-ripened

fruits. Great men are totally different from this quality. Whatever they utter is not mere talk. They

are called sayings. They demonstrate what they preach. Every moment they examine themselves for

propriety. They will be careful to avoid the pitfalls of doing anything wrong. They will have sensible

speech, that which yields noble values. Their communication will carry lofty ideals. There will be no

unnecessary talk or unwanted actions by them. By mere silence they covey eternal values. Even

serious sins will get atoned by audience with these great souls and listening attentively to their

sayings.

SAYING ONE HUNDRED SIX

If you keep shifting from one Guru to another and keep following different Gurus, you may end up

without a proper guide in spiritual matters. Ultimately only uncertainty will prevail. If you try to

understand My miracles you will understand the significance of what I say. You must have firm faith

in your Guru. Your thoughts must not wander around. Ponder and assimilate what I say. Other Gurus

may have plenty of name and fame. Your Guru may not have all that. Even then the faith in your

guru must be deep rooted. This is the essence you have to digest from My sayings. But unless you

have unshakeable faith , My advice will not be of any use. You will not have enough strength. If you

keep your head at the Lotus feet of Guru and believe in his words, you can achieve anything in life.

Even if you have an iota of doubt, following My advice will not be helpful.

SAYING ONE HUNDRED SEVEN

I will give you few words of comfort. I will let you know the path to get peace of mind. Believe in

My words and follow My advice. Whatever you receive at any point of time accept that as such. Be

content with what you get. Do not keep worrying about issues unnecessarily. Look at me. I am a

mendicant. I do not have any possessions. I do not have any attachment. I have discarded all

worldly possessions and thus carry on with out any worry. But Maya does not leave Me. This Maya

keeps bothering Me. Even if I forget Maya, it keeps coming back to Me incessantly. Maya will

come any moment. It will engulf Me totally.

SAYING ONE HUNDRED EIGHT

I shall give you a promise. Faithfully listen to Me. Do not worry that I am not present in My mortal

body at Shirdi. I am present within you in subtle body. The moment your heartfelt prayer reaches Me

I am there. I am always with you, serving you. If you seek My help in your efforts I will

immediately complete the task successfully. Thus I fulfill My duties for whoever worships Me. I am

as near to you as a child in the womb of its mother. I may forget you only when the ocean forgets to

raise waves, the sun sets in the east and the moon loses its coolness. You must have firm faith that I

belong to you and I will never let you down anytime. Your parents gave you the body. I provide you

with energy. Worship Me as your father, mother and guru. Baba belongs to you. He will always be

with you for ever.

EPILOGUE

Baba in His ever loving mercy has given us this opportunity to hear these sweet sayings. When an

infant comes out of the womb it will be covered with blood, pus and other such dirty matter. Such an

infant will be cleaned and placed near the mother. After experiencing the pain associated with

delivery the mother will be exhausted and will be asleep. After the rest, the mother will open her

eyes and will feel happy to see a clean child. Baba is exhausted by repeating His Sayings several

times and is in a state of trance and Bliss. By then we will get ourselves cleansed through these

wonderful sayings of Baba and become purified. Baba, when He comes out of the blissful trance will

be happy to see us thus clean. Just like the mother becomes happy by looking at a clean child, Baba

will also be pleased to see us pure and will keep us in His lovely lap. Have no doubt. Such is the

sacredness of Satguruvani. The Satguruvani has emanated from the divine Lotus Face of Baba. This

Satguruvani will make us pure irrespective of our intense sinful karma. Nobody can fathom the

greatness of Satguruvani. By listening to the Satguruvani even stones will melt. Such inanimate

stones will then mix with earth and are reborn as human beings to undertake seva.Then such people

will not have rebirth. Just by listening and memorizing the great sayings of Baba and by following

His advice, we will reach the pinnacle of spirituality. We can liberate ourselves in this very birth.

Whatever is the effect of karma prior to listening to this Satguruvani, one can reach the Lotus Feet of

Sai subsequently by reverent study and steadfast practice of His sayings, and get rid of the

consequences of his actions. Liberation is assured. Only Sai has promised to undertake our karmic

burden. Have faith in Sai and do not get disheartened. Be without worries. Then from this very

moment you will get all the welfare. Believe in the promise of Sai. Recite this Holy book with ardent

fervor. Always be immersed in the name of Sai. Then you will enjoy unalloyed bliss similar to the

boat of your life swaying smoothly in the divine zephyr, under the cool rays of moonlight.

Never leave the Lotus Feet of Sai

Do not forget the name of Sai

Let everybody be happy.
