    Worship Leader Training

Last trimester one of the teachers at our school,Maritza, asked if we would be able to workwith a group of youth at her church to create aworship band for their Sunday church services.

    Training the next generation...

Maritzas church was the first evangelicalchurch plant in Costa Rica and is located indowntown San Jose. Today, the church has alively congregation and they are interested ininvesting in their youth and developing the nextgeneration of worship leaders.

Every Saturday we work with a group of aboutten 12-24 year olds, teaching them how to leadcontemporary spanish worship songs. We havean hour to work with them before their weeklyyouth group starts. Each week we teach one newsong. The lesson begins with prayer andscripture before we lead the worship song foreveryone. Then, we split up into two groups: thesingers and drummers go with Jim and theguitar players stay with me. We have about 45minutes to work through the song and then we

gather back together to play through it witheveryone one last time.

It has been so neat to see these kids return weekafter week and already they are able to playthree songs! We praise God for this challenging,

but fun, opportunity to practice our Spanish andto share our musical gifts, too!
