    Health Ministry

How physically active are you?? With all the currenemphasis on the rising rate of obesity in our countryis wise to consider adding exercise to your regimen you are overweight but also it is needed for a personwith normal weight. The studies on 10,000 stepshave been available for the past several years. Haveyou ever used a pedometer to see if you are among

those who actually do take 10,000 in a day? They arhandy little devices that fit on a belt or in a pocket anmeasure the number of steps you take in a day. Sompedometers measure the number of aerobic steps aswell as just walking and also the number of caloriesburned. To start try using a pedometer to see howmany steps you actually take in a typical day and thesee if you can add some each day. It is helpful to seegoal and see how close you come to accomplishing tgoal. Some people begin with 2500 steps and add min weekly intervals. If you really dislike walking its

boring just to walk there are sheets with equivalentto see how swimming, biking and other activities cacount. Be sure to wear a good pair of sneakers orrunning shoe4s. Work slowly to avoid injury as youadd steps. It can be a good family activity to work ostress and even fatigue. Equivalent sheet are availabform the Health Ministry.Visit the Parish Nurse link at myolph.com for
