Term 2 Week 7 10th June, 2016
This Sunday is Eleventh Sunday in
Ordinary Time – Year C
O God, strength of those who hope in you,
graciously hear our pleas,
and, since without you mortal frailty can do nothing,
grant us always the help of your grace,
that in following your commands
we may please you by our resolve and our deeds.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy
Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen. (Ref:Liturgyhelp.com)
Year 1 Family/Parish Mass Our next Family/Parish Mass will be celebrated on
Sunday, 19th June, at 9.30am. All families,
especially Year 1, are welcome. Mass will be
followed by morning tea in the Parish House.
Year of Mercy Tree
Throughout the last couple of weeks, Year 4 has
been promoting ‘respect’ as our next value for our
‘Mercy Tree’. What does it mean to be respectful?
How can I be more respectful? The students have
constructed a display of a brick wall about respect.
This wall is displayed on the windows outside the
library. They have also contributed to our ‘Mercy
Tree’ located on the large display wall in the open
learning area.

Parent/Teacher Interviews
Parent/Teacher interviews
for Kindergarten to Year 6
will be in Week 10 of this
term. At these 15 minute
interviews, parents will
receive their child’s school
report which explains his/her progress in the Key
Learning Areas of Religious Education,
English, Mathematics, Human Society and Its
Environment, Science and Technology, Creative
Arts and Personal Development, Health and Physical
Education. The reports using the E-A scale are for
Years 1-6 while Kindergarten use a school-designed
report.
An information session about the E-A scale and
reports will be held on Tuesday, 21st June at
2.15pm. This session will be of particular
interest to Year 1 parents as it could be their first
year of E-A reports.
The process for booking a parent/teacher interview is
outlined below:
Please go to:
www.schoolinterviews.com.au
Enter school event code: 8k84f
Enter your details: Full Name, Email Address,
Child’s name and surname
(this is the only information required for your child).
Please ensure you book an interview time with the
correct classroom teacher and allow 15 minutes (1
time slot) between bookings if you have more than
one child.
Please be aware that at the Parent/Teacher
Interviews, children will not be supervised by
teachers. If they do come along with their parents
they must wait inside the classroom during the
interview. Children are not to be playing or waiting
outside without parental supervision. The interviews
are of 15 minutes duration and if you need to discuss
your child’s work further, an extra appointment will
need to be made for a later date.
School Canteen
Our school canteen will
reopen next week,
Tuesday, 14th June. The
operator is Mel's Tasty
Bites.
www.melstastybites.com
Please check their
website for menu and
online ordering.
The canteen will be open
5 days a week and lunch
orders may be made:
online
through a lunch order in class (as current system)
over the counter (although this may be restricted to
what is available).
Whooping Cough
There has been another case of whooping cough
reported to the school this week. If your child is
coughing it would be advisable to visit the doctor for
a swab test.
Coughing spreads the infection to others nearby.
Whooping cough caught at school can spread to any
younger brothers and sisters at home. Whooping
cough can be especially dangerous for babies.
Whooping cough starts like a cold and progresses to
bouts of coughing that can last for many weeks.
Older children may just have a cough that is
persistent and is worse at night. The infection can
occur even in fully-vaccinated children.
Children with symptoms should see a GP.
If your doctor diagnoses whooping cough, please
let the school know and keep your child at home
until they have taken 5 days of antibiotics. Keep
coughing children away from babies.
Whooping cough vaccines give good protection
against infection but immunity fades. If your school-
aged child has younger siblings, it’s a good idea to
check that they are up to date with their vaccines.

OLOL School Canteen -
Mel’s Tasty Bites
I would like to introduce myself as "Mel" from Mel's Tasty Bites as your new school
canteen operator. We are very excited to be operating Our Lady of Lourdes Primary
School canteen which will be open 5 days per week starting on Tuesday, 14th June.
We are currently rated the healthiest canteen operators in Sydney and that is because
of the fresh food we are introducing to our students. All our food is made fresh daily
and homemade. You will find our mouth watering, endless options, on your new
healthy canteen menu on our website and your school’s website…
Just to fill you in a little about what we have on offer for you;
We offer online ordering on our website, so if you find it difficult to come in and
order lunch for your little one/s, don't worry as it can also be done online for your
convenience or the familiar way of handing it in at the canteen. Orders must be in by
9.30am.
We also have an account system which runs on credit. You can leave $20 or more on
your own personal account at the canteen, that way your child will never have to miss
out on recess or lunch, or better yet, does not have to carry any money with them.
You can also let us know if there are certain items you do not wish your child to
purchase…
We have a Loyalty Card System. Every time your child places a lunch order at the
canteen, they receive a stamp on their card, once they reach 10 stamps, they receive a
FREE lunch to the value of $5.00... how cool is that?
So be sure to pick up your loyalty card with your first lunch order.
Not sure what to do for your child's upcoming birthday?
We make fresh homemade cupcakes for your special birthday girl or boy to share
their special day with their friends at school. Place your order within 72 hours and a
gorgeous tray of cupcakes will be ready for pick up by the teacher on your child’s
special day.
Parents & Staff: The canteen has a fancy coffee machine for you to enjoy a
cappuccino, chai tea or even a hot chocolate.
We offer many more services, so be sure to stay tuned by Liking our Facebook Page
and visiting our website often.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me..
We will be giving away a $30.00 Account Voucher to a lucky student who puts in a
lunch order on Tuesday the 14th June.
Looking forward to meeting you all on our Grand Opening Day!
