Oliveira Spelling Bee

Classroom Bees were held and 24 students participated in the school-wide bee on Wednesday, Decem-ber 12. Aruna, Grade 5 from Mrs. Newton’s class, and Nancy, Grade 6 from Mrs. Tilghman’s class will advance to the FUSD Spelling Bee on Tuesday, January 29th. Glenmoor is the host of the FUSD Bee this year.

Thank you to the judges Beth Newell, Lance Kwan, and DiShawn Givens and pronouncer Prince Pa-dania. All of the judges were amazed by our students ability to spell sustenance, sasquatch, and dollop! Thank you also to Second Grade Teacher, Mrs. Cur-ry, who was the Bee coordinator this year.

Planning and Decision Making are the Traits of the Month

Parents & Guardians can support Oliveira staff and students by talking about the below to extend Planning & Decision Making into our homes and community. Definitions: Thinking before doing, establishing goals, evalu-ating options, choosing the best alternative, prioritizing tasks Synonyms: Devising, outlining, arrange, bargain for, blue-print, brainstorm, calculate, conspire, contemplate, cook up, craft, design, devise, engineer, figure out, form, formulate, hatch, invent, line up, map, organize, outline, plot, project, scheme, sketch In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
