FROM YOUR PASTOR’S HEART

We give thanks to God for His creativity in bringing forth new life in the miracle of springtime. Although the blooming flowers and budding trees may cause our sinuses to bloom as well, we are still thankful for the wonderous beauty of God’s creation that surrounds us with new life.

We give thanks to God for His creativity in bringing new life in the miracle of physical birth. We have evidenced new life in our community through several births among the families of our congregation this past year. On Mother’s Day we plan to dedicate several of these babies and their families. It is imperative that we as a community of faith nurture and care for these precious little ones and their families as they grow into the men and women God plans for them to be. We will dedicate them and ourselves to this purpose on May 12.We give thanks to God for His creativity in bringing new life in the miracle of spiritual rebirth. God has worked His greatest miracle in bringing life even from death. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die” (Jn 11:25-26, NIV). We will remember those who have faced physical death over the preceding year in our annual Memorial Service on May 26. As we remember all those who have died physically in Christ, we rejoice that they are not dead but are alive with Christ Jesus. We give thanks to God for His creativity in bringing new life. He is truly an uncommon God, and He calls

us to be His uncommon servants working with Him in our world to do uncommon things—to bring life wherever it seems there is only death.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY – May 6

Ladies This is Our Night!Who are We and Why are We so Special?

On May 6 our ladies Bible study group will meet in the Parlor of Old Greenbrier Baptist at 6:30 p.m. They will continue their study of Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman’s Soul by John & Stasi Elderedge. It will be a wonderful time of sharing the Bible and learning how wonderful we are as women made in the image of God. If you need a book or have any questions, please contact Deborah Bryan. All ladies from our church and our community are welcome. We look forward to sharing God's awesome Word with one another.

We have averaged a dozen K-5th grade children at our Faith Weavers Sunday afternoon events in April. We had good participation in our April Faith Weavers “Build Your Own Sundae” event and enjoyed hearing our Faith Weavers singers sing in worship on April 7.

Faith Weavers will not meet on a weekly basis during the summer due to the scattering of our children for vacations and the increase in other summertime activities. We plan to restart weekly meetings in September after Labor Day. We have plans for at least three special Faith Weavers events during the summer. In May, our Faith Weavers will host a Mother’s Day Tea Party for guys and gals of all ages to honor their mothers on Saturday, May 4 from 11am to 1pm in our Fellowship Hall.

In June our Faith Weavers will host a Father’s Day Bar-B-Que for guys and gals of all ages to

honor their dads on Saturday, June 22 at noon.

Our Faith Weavers Team is also planning a special event for July to be held in conjunction with our annual week of Vacation Bible School July 14-18.

Seven Things You’ll Never AMA Summer Work Teams Update

Our Alderson Ministerial Association (AMA) will sponsor three work teams in our community this summer.

Calvary Baptist Church, Seaville, NJ – This group of American Baptists will be with us from May 1 – 5. They will be a team of about fifteen adults led by Jonathan Kleinman. They will be able to do a variety of construction and repair projects.

First Presbyterian Church, Honesdale, PA – This group will be with us from July 14 – 19. Led by Chris Scheuerll, they will consist of about twenty high school students and their adult leaders. They are open to help with a variety of projects. Pastor Bill will coordinate this group of volunteers.

Oaklyn Baptist, Oaklyn, NJ – This group of friends will be back with us from July 21 – 27. This team of fifteen adults is led by Fred Daugherty. They have been coming to Alderson for several years and are a seasoned and well-skilled team. We look forward to the return of our friends from New Jersey.

Pray for AMA leaders and volunteers who will facilitate the teams’ efforts during their weeks of service.

Pray for the teams to have safe travel and safety as they work in our community.

Pray for God to be glorified in all that is done in His name.

1. Feeling reverence for your Maker.2. Showing kindness to an aged person.3. Destroying a letter or e-mail written in anger.4. Offering an apology that saves a friendship.5. Stopping gossip that could wreck a reputation or

church.6. Taking time to show loved ones consideration.7. Accepting the judgment of God on any question.
