Old City Hall Gallery Exhibition Proposal 2017 — 2018

Shasta County Arts Council accepts Exhibition Proposals for art shows to be held at Old City Hall Gallery. Works representing both

traditional and innovative approaches to the Visual Arts will be considered. All media will be considered.

Shasta County Arts Council reserves the right to determine suitability regarding:

1. method of presentation

2. content, regarding that which may be determined "inappropriate" for public viewing.

E L I G I B I L I T Y

Majority of works to be exhibited must have been completed and not presented regionally in an exhibition within two years of Old

City Hall scheduling. Artists may not hold a major show in Redding simultaneously.

P R O P O S A L R E V I E W

Applications submitted with a self-addressed-stamped-envelope (SASE) of appropriate size will be returned by mail. Applications

submitted without a return envelope cannot be returned. Shasta County Arts Council is not responsible for loss of or damage to sub-

mitted CD's.

E N T R Y P R O C E D U R E S

To submit a Proposal for an Exhibition at Old City Hall Gallery, the Artists is required to submit the following documentation:

1. Exhibition Proposal Form

2. A non-refundable screening fee of:

Member Non-member:

$8 (single) $10 (single)

$16 (two person) $20 (two person)

$25 (group) $35 (group)

3. A current resume - typed (in case of a Group, please include a resume for each Group Member)

4. A brief Artist's Statement and description of work to be exhibited. (in case of a Group, the Group’s Artist Statement)

5. High resolution digital samples of 10 works of art (20 per group entry) indicative of Artist’s style, submitted on a CD

(preferred). A contact sheet printout, with each image appropriately attributed is acceptable. List images from one to

ten (20 per group) on the last page of the Proposal Form. Images submitted for review need not represent the proposed




exhibition theme, but must be indicative of the Artist's style and medium to be represented. (i.e.: Artist may not exhibit

clothing if proposal was for an exhibition of paintings.)

C R I T E R I A F O R S E L E C T I O N

All Proposals are reviewed by Shasta County Arts Council’s Visual Arts Committee. The Applicants shall be notified of the Com-

mittee’s decisions as soon as the decision has been made.

Proposals will be considered on the professional level of:

1. Quality and content of artwork.

2. Quality of application presentation.

3. Contribution of artwork to a balanced yearly program of the Gallery, aiming to present a wide variety of media. Due to

limited gallery scheduling, SCAC reserves the right to combine Applicant Artists in exhibitions.

4. Innovative approaches to the Old City Hall gallery space as an integral part of the presentation.

The following may also be considered:

1) Artists who have not shown locally in a similar context

2) Relation of art work to community events and/or special interests.

E X H I B I T I O N S P E C I F I C A T I O N S

Artwork accepted for exhibition must be READY FOR PRESENTATION (i.e., framed with appropriate hardware for hanging. Items

requiring specific display instructions must be designated as such in proposal for consideration by the Gallery Director.) No piece

may be withdrawn before the close of a showing. Sold art is picked up by purchaser at the end of exhibit.

F E E S

An exhibition fee (PER ARTIST) of $35 (SCAC member)/ $70 (non-member) will be charged to help defray costs per exhibition.

R E P R O D U C T I O N

For publicity purposes, Shasta County Arts Council reserves the right to photograph art work accepted for exhibition.

I N S U R A N C E

Shasta County Arts Council does NOT carry gallery insurance. Shasta County Arts Council takes all reasonable measures (monitored

space, locked when not in use, daily inspection) to cover the safety of the artwork, while displayed at Old City Hall gallery.
