Design Plan Orientation Meeting
This form must accompany any application submitted for Design Review Board.
The following application materials are required by 3:30 P.M. of the submittal day (see calendar):

site area, building footprint [sqft & %], parking numbers, total impervious surface [sqft & %], amenity area [sqft & %], site contours and all required buffers).
6. Eight large and two 11x17 copies of the landscape plan(s) which must contain all landscape development information (planting list with common name, current & proposed tree density units, buffers and landscape strips).
7. Two 11x17 copies of a lighting plan and photometric. 8. Proof of Stormwater Concept Meeting (applicant must contact Environmental/Public Works Department) 9. Steep slopes analysis and traffic impact study if required (applicant must contact City Engineer and RDOT)

Permanent Sign Permit Requirements A Permanent Sign is any sign made of durable materials that is intended to be erected for more than ten (10) days. Examples of permanent signs include free-standing signs, wall signs, and certain construction or real estate signs if they are intended to be in place for longer than ten days. If your sign will be needed for less than ten days, please request a Temporary Sign Permit application form. If you have questions about permitting requirements, you may contact a planner at 770-641-3780. Please complete the Permanent Sign Permit application form and return with all required documents to the Community Development Department, 38 Hill Street, Suite G – 30, Roswell, GA 30075. Failure to complete pages two and three of this application along with the submission of all required documentation will result in denial of the sign permit application. REQUIREMENTS 1. Freestanding or Ground Mounted Signs: (a) Drawings to architect or engineer scale of the proposed sign; (b)
Scaled elevation of the size and height of the proposed sign from ground level and adjacent street level; (c) Proposed materials and color scheme of sign; (d) Square foot area per sign; (e) The street address is on both sides of the sign, visible from both directions of travel; (f) Street address numbers in contrasting colors against the background, and are a minimum of eight inches in height; except properties designated historic properties, which may be a minimum of four inches and a maximum of eight inches in height; (g) The distance of the proposed sign from the subject property’s boundaries.
2. Building Signs: (a) Drawings of the proposed sign; (b) Two sets of building elevations to scale detailing the height of the leasable area, and indicating the location of the proposed sign; (c) Proposed materials and color scheme of sign; (d) Square foot area per sign.
3. For all signs fifty (50) square feet or larger: (a) A photographic simulation of the sign; (b) a certified and stamped construction plan by a Georgia registered professional engineer showing compliance with the International Building Code including, but not limited to, items required in Chapter 1 and Appendix H, Section H105 of the International Building Code, and showing all structural supports.
4. Freestanding or ground mounted signs must have a footing inspection. All inspections must be called in between 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. at 770- 641-3784.
5. Electrical signs must have an electrical permit prior to the issuance of a sign permit. 6. All signs must be completed and installed within six (6) months of issuance or the permit will become invalid.
Sign permit decals must be placed on the sign to be visible from the street.

Temporary Sign Permit Requirements – Section 10.3.6
1. Temporary signs—including banners, balloons or other temporary commercial signs—are made of non-durable materials and are intended to be erected for less than ten days. If your sign will be erected for more than ten days, please request a Permanent Sign Permit Application form. Permanent signs must be made of a permanent material. Banners, Balloons, and tents cannot be a permanent item.
2. Each location may permit one sign per road frontage. A tenant in a shopping center or multi-tenant location shall be considered to have one road frontage.
3. A temporary sign may be permitted by an establishment for a maximum of ten (10) consecutive days, and for no more than a total of eighty (80) days per year. In addition, a new business may obtain a Temporary Sign Permit for a period of up to two (2) weeks to celebrate its grand opening upon the initial opening of the business.
4. The maximum size allowed per sign is thirty-two (32) square feet.5. Sign Permit fees of $25 per advertising device for each 10 day period, must be
submitted with the application. Make your check or money order payable to the City of Roswell.
6. You will receive a permit decal sticker(s) to be affixed to the lower right hand corner of each advertising device. The numbers on the stickers must correspond to the numbers listed on the Temporary Sign Permit. Signs without a sticker are deemed not permitted.
7. Temporary signs and banners must be on private property with the express consent of the property owner, set back about ten feet from the curb. The sign may not be placed in the public right-of way. No signs are allowed on utility poles, trees or traffic signs.
8. The applicant is responsible for removing the signs by the indicated expiration date. Failure to remove the advertising device on the expiration date could result in the issuance of a citation, penalties and/or a court fine.
9. No advertising shall exceed the height of the building.10. No portable, sidewalk, a-frame, pennants or easel signs are allowed for a
Temporary Sign Permit.11. This permit must be displayed upon the request of any municipal officer or citizen
requesting identification or proof of permission for this sign.12. A temporary sign is required to be located upon the premises of the business or entity
identified on the sign.
