The water level has reached 13 feet and is anticipated to climb even higher. Many of the fish seem to be frequenting the

same areas now that they were using before the water rose. The outside edges of the grass lines are holding large numbers of fish. Skinny dippers, big e-z’s, horny toads and flukes are all drawing strikes when worked through the heavy cover. The better areas to fish are many. The pass, King’s Bar, Tin House Cove and In-dian Prairie are all holding good numbers of bass. The east side of the lake around Nubbin Slough all the way down to J&S are yielding good numbers of fish.

The large female bass that we always expect this time of year have made their appearance and many big pre-spawn females are being caught. Fish in the seven to ten-pound range are a daily occurrence right now and the big bass bonanza should continue right on thru next month.

Water has been running into the lake at Nubbin

Slough for several weeks and huge numbers of specks are being caught by anglers fishing off of the concrete structure. Those fishing min-nows tight against the walls are catching the better numbers of specks most days. Bass, blue gill and specks can all be caught in this area. The large crowds fishing in a small area make safety a priority. Several anglers reported that they caught 15 to 20 large blue gill and shell cracker in Indian Prairie canal.
