The “UNIFIED” event committee will be hosting an 18-hole golf scramble on August 4, 2012 at the Okeechobee Golf and Country Club, beginning at 8:00 am. They are currently looking for sponsors for the event- $100 per hole or $250 per green. You may also sponsor a team of four for $240 or $60 per per-son. Each person will receive lunch and an awards presentation will follow the game. All proceeds will benefit the UNIFIED Youth Rally, scheduled for January 11th and 12th. This rally will focus on the issues facing today’s teens, with speakers, testi-monies, information and prizes. Invest in the youth of Okeechobee! The Parks & Recreation Dept. is hosting Okeechobee Summer Games to celebrate this year’s Olympics. It will consist of several events including relay swim, basketball shootout, tug-a-war, obstacle course, table tennis, and more. Teams will register up to 15 people to compete in Olympic-style games to win bronze, silver and gold medals. Competition will be held Day 1—Saturday, August 4th at the Sports Complex and Day 2—Saturday, August 11th at the Ag Center. There is a junior division (ages 14-17) and adult division (18 & up). It is $100 to participate. We’re seeking participants who would enjoy and appreciate these games. Get a group of people to-gether, find a sponsor and show some Okeechobee pride!
