Custom seal kits provide customers with an easy to use reordering system for groups of products. Whether it is for a piece of machinery that undergoes maintenance or for manufacturing machinery, our sales staff will identify the sealing components and create a kit in our system. The kit can include custom labels with company logos and part numbers. When placing an order, simply provide us with the kit number and receive the parts in one bag.

Hydraulic applications are challenging for seals as they perform numerous functions. Hydraulic seals have to prevent leakage of fluid from the cylinder, and withstand the high pressure, extreme temperatures, and transverse forces within the cylinder. Hi-Tech Seals offer a broad range of custom and standard hydraulic seals.

All pumps, whether they are direct lift, displacement, or gravity designs require sealing components. The mechanism of action responsible for the production of pressure, either reciprocal or rotary, presents its own unique design consider-ations and challenges when implementing reliable sealing solutions. Seals are critical to providing longevity and integrity to all components within a pump, an important factor in the generation of pressure, and protect against environmental contamination. Hi-Tech Seals offers a broad array of pump sealing components and solutions.

Transfer Moulding • Minimal cavity pressure for more detailed designs• High production rates• Low production cost• Quick mould setup• Good for complex & intricate components• Ability to hold tight tolerances• High cavity count• Design flexibility

• Low to medium volumes• All rubber durometers• Component with thick walls• Better surface finish• When tight tolerances are required• Large diameter components

Injection Moulding • Less excess flash• Good for complex & delicate components• Cost effective• Consistency among dimensions• Ability to hold tight tolerances• Quick production time• Material and colour flexibility

• High volumes• All rubber durometers• Small components• Good for intricate components

Cast Moulding • Economical tooling costs• Easy to manipulate material properties• Quick production times

• Loose tolerances• Cellular materials

Extrusion Moulding • Least complex molds• Low mold & die costs• Low cost, per pound, of material• Typically, lower unit cost• Quick production time

• High volumes• Simple shapes• Uniform cross-sections shapes• Tube shape products

Oilfield Product GuideSeal Analysis Lab

Hi-Tech Seals’ Seal Analysis Lab can perform a variety of additional tests and general analysis using our state‒of‒the‒art equipment including;

• Tensile Strength• Tensile Modulus• Specific Gravity• Face Flatness

Hi-Tech Seals’ Seal Analysis Lab plays an important role in the engineering services we offer. It is a step forward in the continual advancements of Hi-Tech Seals’ quality control program and unique services. The Lab contains a variety of state‒of‒the‒art equipment that allows our engineers, draftsmen, and quality control staff to perform various analysis and tests.

Detailed Inspection Report

Our Seal Analysis Lab employs both a Micro‒Vu Matrix and Micro‒Vu Excel. They allow Hi-Tech Seals to measure components quickly and reliably to an accuracy of multiple decimal places. Our engineering, drafting, and quality control staff use both devices to inspect newly arrived parts against supplied drawings and to confirm the tolerance of machined parts. Upon request, this information can be placed in a report format for customer's knowledge and use.

Failure Analysis Report

Hi-Tech Seals’ failure analysis report (FAR) examines and analyzes seals or gaskets and the environment in which it failed. This allows us to determine the most likely cause(s) of the failure. Once the cause(s) has been determined, suitable recommendations that will optimize future performance are presented.

Our engineering and quality departments require a failed part sample and application information to perform the analysis. If a sample cannot be provided, a picture and a detailed description of the part, application, and environment is needed.

Positive Material Identification

We perform positive material identification (PMI) on elastomeric, plastic, and metal materials. To identify elastomer and plastic materials we utilize a mid‒infrared FT‒IR spectrometer. The FT‒IR spectrometer analyzes the molecular structure of a material to determine the base polymer type.

To identify metal alloys, we use a Bruker S1 Sorter (XRF Spectrometer). The XRF spectrometer is able to complete its analysis in a rapid and non‒destructive manner.

Oilfield Product Guide Cast Urethane

Hi-Tech Seals Cast Urethane Division is centrally located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Cast urethane components can be designed for new or existing applications, as well as for replacements of previously used plastic, rubber, or metal components. This versatile material can allow for lighter, quieter, and longer lasting products. Polyurethane’s excellent physical characteristics can save money by increasing wear resistance, providing less downtime, and by having less product breakage.

Hi-Tech Seals Cast Urethane Division utilizes a 3D printer to create scale models of components. The process allows us to have full control of our mould development and allows us to reduce expensive tooling charges.

Mould Making

Polyether:

• More flexibility over polyesters• Better hydrolysis resistance

Customize Your UrethaneWhen creating a customized urethane product, we provide two main types of polyurethane. These products can have a base of either Polyether and Polyester. Hi-Tech Seals can maintain a urethane's toughness and resilience while producing a polyurethane as soft as 30 Shore A to as hard as 87 D.

Polyester:

• Oil and fuel resistance• Wear resistance• Dynamic properties

Black, red, yellow, orange, green, blue, white or a custom corporate colour.

Custom Colours

Hi-Tech Seals can add a company logo or part number to most urethane components. These identification markings can help create brand awareness and identify proprietary parts.

Rapid Gasket Oilfield Product Guide

LaserQC®Hi-Tech Seals Gasket Division employs a Virtek LaserQC® 1200 machine. The LaserQC® assists in reverse engineering, quality inspection and control, and statistical process control. It captures over 500 data points per second, while maintaining a tolerance within ± 0.05mm (0.002"). Our drafting department makes adjustments to the scanned data to optimize the tolerance levels. The file can then be exported directly to our flashcutters or water jet for rapid gasket production.

Rapid GasketOilfield Product Guide

FlashcutterOur two Atom Flashcutters utilize CAD renderings to quickly produce gaskets from rubber, plastic, and composite materials. Each flashcutter’s surface area can accommodate material up to 60" × 120". We are capable of cutting rubber materials up to 1" thick and plastic and composite materials up to a 1/2" thick.

The flashcutters use a rapid vertical reciprocating motion to cut the gaskets. The cutting motion produces a cleaner finished part, avoiding compression marks found on die‒cut gaskets. The flashcutters' vacuum surfaces hold sheet material in place preventing the movement of parts during production. This enables the flashcutter to maintain exceptional tolerances.

Equipment

Waterjet

Die Cut

The Omax waterjet further expands our manufacturing capabilities. The waterjet cuts the standard composite and rubber materials, but also allows us to manufacture metal gaskets up to 6" thick. The waterjet working surface area is 60" × 135".

Hi-Tech Seals Gasket Division utilizes a clicker press to produce die cut gaskets. Dies are manufactured locally and stored in house. Our die cutting capabilities include all soft gasket materials in various shapes.

Hand CutFor cost effective small runs, our Gasket Division produces hand cut gaskets. Hand cut gaskets are excellent for prototype applications or for one of a kind parts.
