2If vehicle is being raised, follow procedure appropriate to the equipment being used. If vehicle is to be jacked up refer to vehicle service manual for placement of jack and safety stands. If a hoist is being used refer to manual for proper instruction for that type of vehicle.Vehicle may fall or slide causing crushing injury or deathRefer to appropriate JHA for jacking and blocking a vehicle, and or the appropriate JHA for hydraulic car lift or drive on ramp hoist. Always refer to vehicle service manual and hoist manual. If you are not sure ask the teacher before you begin and check again before you lower vehicle onto safety stands. Do not work around or under a vehicle that is not secure.

3Loosen but do not remove drain plug. Place waste oil recovery tank or container as close as possible to oil drain and then remove plug. When you remove the filter, there will also be oil draining or dripping from that location. If there is a large oil spill, clean it up while oil is draining.Oil can be hot causing burns. Exposure to waste oil/petrol products may have toxic effects. Slipping on an oil spill causing injury to head and or body.Wear your safety glasses/goggles, protective gloves, coveralls. Do not get hot engine oil on your skin or clothing, if this happens remove clothing and wash skin immediately. Clean up any spills to avoid slipping and causing injury.

4Replace drain plug and new oil filter following the manufacture's instructions/recommendations. (Remember to always hand tighten the oil filter. DO NOT USE ANY TOOLS TO TIGHTEN THE OIL FILTER). Install new oil into vehicle per vehicle service manual. Check under vehicle to make sure oil is not leaking out. Clean area of spills and recycle old oil and oil filter in appropriate storage area.Exposure to waste oil/petrol products may have toxic effects. --Improper disposal of waste oil and filter will have environmental impact--Do not get engine oil on your skin or clothing - remove clothing and wash skin immediately.--Practice good housekeeping, clean up any spills.--Follow government guidelines for the recycling of waste oil and filter.--
